the game was made by sega in collaboration with nintendo. the game is considered to be one of the best selling gamecube games and also considered one of the most difficult games to handle

the game had a killer soundtrack

also. listen to this song.

the games brings back captain falcon and all the characters from f zero x for the n64 with addition to some new characters.

the story is good and i like the song at the end, and i do enjoy the stages.

also, the game has an arcade version called F-Zero AX

its in alot of arcades. i was able to play it a year ago when i went to the Galloping Ghost Arcade (i'll have a thread on the place in the future)

the story is meh.
I disagree. It's not groundbreaking storytelling but you can't deny the unlovable corniness of the cutscenes in this game.

My personal favorite being when Captain Falcon is attacked by the three ghosts of racing past that haunts his F-Zero trophy.

This game does have one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a video game. F-Zero already had good music, but Sega's history with outstanding music in their games knocked it out of the park with this.

>when you can only clear half the story missions on very hard
>when you can't clear diamond cup on master

So close to 100% at this game as a kid.
Half of the reason why the game is so hard is because the AI cheats.

Well, not "cheat," it's entirely possible within the game to do them. But the AI does things a human cannot physically do.

The other half of why the game is so hard is because you need to be near perfect to do anything without dying in this game.

Most racing games have genuinely cheating AI. It's pretty common for CPU racers to reach speeds which would be physically impossible for a player.

That is also true. At the very least, F-Zero GX doesn't just rubber band the AI...blatantly.

I love F-Zero GX. I worked hard and practiced a fuckton but sadly I still lacked the skills required to unlock the AX-exclusive (sort of) characters. But that's because they really wanted you to feed your dollars to the arcade machine since it's otherwise much easier.

The anime that came out right after GX can go fuck itself though. Yes I know it wasn't a GX anime, but it still sucked.

The dub is worse, and not just because it was 4kids. It decided to not focus on Captain Falcon.

Nintendo keeps making the excuse that there's no way to innovate the gameplay, so that's why there's no sequel. Yet they keep on making Mario kart.
That's funny, considering they have no problem with making a "new" Star Fox game that's just a rehash of Star Fox 64, but in HD and awful motion controls.

GX is the fastest racing game ever made because of the snaking glitch. It doesn't take long to get good at it since there's so many tutorials online. Basically you alternate turning left and right while also leaning left and right while on max acceleration setting. This lets you go paint-shearing speed, basically going 2-3 times faster at ALL TIMES over the fastest you ever go during boost speed. You will curbstomp everything the game has to offer which is why people shit on it but you are basically competing against other people online, you can also trade ghosts since GX works so well on Dolphin emulator.

The story is incredibly hard but it's a great challenge. Again, you can destroy the story with snaking. We are never gonna see another F-Zero game ever, GX was the last, some basedboi spent $40K to get Nintendo stock to ask them in a meeting he was entitled to get, they said they don't care. They only care about Mario Kart, literally the closest you're gonna get to an F-Zero game is a track and a few vehicles in the Mario Kart universe themed to look like F-Zero tracks and vehicles, which doesn't matter because it is still slow. In less than a year it will literally be two decades since an F-Zero game, the shitty GBA anime-tie in game that nobody cared about doesn't count. The feeling of speed that you get when snaking in GX will not ever be matched.

X is also great but doesn't have easily abusable glitches. They both have out-of-this-world soundtrack and GX has tons of hilarious, shitpost-y character profile cutscenes.

So there are two different AI in F-Zero GX that throws people off:
1. Story mode AI Racing
2. General AI Racing in the cups.

In the Story Mode its almost like a puzzle. Black Bull (for example) will 100% cheat since the whole point of the story mission was to be in second place to Black Bull and then boost ahead at the VERY last second clutching the win (like a hero in a anime would). In the general racing cups the AI generally will not cheat/rubber band. I played GX so much at one point that I could win the race and the have to wait like a good 5 - 10 seconds for every one else to actually cross the finish line.

God I loved this game.

Holy shit, a GX thread. Best arcade racer ever, not even a competition. Fastest game to ever exist.

Sadly my wii remote died so I cant navigate the menu to turn on this game. I was really craving to play this the other day. It's really fucking dumb that I cant navigate the wii menu with my gamecube controller. I will never forgive Nintendo for this.

I haven't learned how to snake yet, but just from learning how to throttle the accelerator after a boost to keep speed for way longer, as well as that turning technique where you engage a drift state then disengage it to instantly regain grip(I'm sorry I dont know the terms), I was amazed at how my trial times came down. I really gotta get another wii remote so i can make more progress towards getting fat shark and the AX tracks. I also miss chaining mini turbos in Double Dash.
