Just ignore me, I'm sorta drunk. And I don't have slightest fucking clue about MLP, so there.

I think the post just speaks volumes about his preferences in fiction. He wants things to stay exactly the way they were, or just make subtle changes (as in Sonic - Sonic himself stays the same, just add bazillion different characters to pander to other demographics. The only way to piss off fans is by *ahem* changing voice actors.)

But as soon as someone makes a dramatic change to his preferred bunch of fiction, Chris has to state that this change is obviously not TRUE and HONEST and it's unfair to the LOYAL FANDASE.

I dunno, I think Marvin once said here that CWC's reactions towards this kinda things are a bit selective. Meaning, he can sometimes totally ignore major changes on some TV show he likes, and other times he'll go full tard rage about some spergy change (like when he got mad because The Cleveland Show switched the voice actor of some minor character).

so say changing a character (like simonchu) from a male to female character (like simonla) would be unfair?

huh.

Firstly, thank god that show got cancelled.

Secondly, I think there was a video out there where Chris got upset about some Family Guy character (I think it was Megan) getting a different VA as the series went on? If I remember correctly, it was the same VA, as well, they had just changed the voice slightly.

Just wanted to put that out there.
It's amazing how Chris still thinks that everyone has to do what he wants and when he wants it, even though he holds no power whatsoever.

To be fair, I think he's referring to Barb.

Honestly a lot of fans are like this though. I mean it becomes a bit more ridiculous with Chris but tons of fan bases are like this.

As somebody who enjoys MLP:FiM and who regularly follows news about the show on various "brony" websites, I can confirm that Chris's reaction to the trailer for Equestria Girls is disturbingly similar to that of maybe 65-75% of the "brony" community, reactions typified by, "OMFG!!!1! PONIES AS HUMANS?!!?!!!11! END OF TEH FANDOM AND FRANCHISE!!!11!!one!!1!" Despite what other bronies may say to deny it, his reaction is depressingly representative of the fandom writ-large.

they like it because embracing a talking horse in a made-up fantasy world takes them completely out of their miserable realities. It's escapism at its finest.

So Gabe Newell needs to escape from his miserable money bathtub reality as well? Arm chair psychology at it's finest.

Turning the pony characters into humans? Is he trying to make this sound bad because I personally think its a great idea! I may not be an MLP fan but seeing the ponies in their human forms sounds like a cool idea!

Gabe Newell is super morbidly obese. His millions can't make him any happier when he has to waddle around like a tub of shit. Also, I'm pretty sure that's just a joke.

Sorry to step on your hooves toes.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Having a lot of vidya money doesn't much matter when you hate yourself. Escapism like these childish pony shows probably helps these kind of people pretend they aren't powerless. Especially since a big reason I hear a lot of bronies give for their fandom is that the show promotes simple lessons like sharing and being nice to friends, stuff that any adult (even a sperglord) can intellectually grasp easily - allowing them to tell themselves they're so smart and special. Like a college student who is having trouble with calculus, who then goes home and practices adding a few fractions and tells himself he's great at math.

Doesn't explain why shows like Babar and Dora the Explorer never developed a similar obsession, but I digress.

Dora makes you work for it. MLP sound like a bunch of enabling little horses.

Yeah thats what i was thinking, and chris jumped on the bandwagon, cause he added the trailer to his playlist suggesting he liked it initially

Three things:

1. Tara Strong and the rest of the MLP: FiM cast have little to no creative control. Also, Lauren Faust left the show two years ago.
2. I'm pretty sure MTV's Undressed was not a high school drama.
3. Like the Hub would ever air Daria.

Does it make me an A-logging sadist to suddenly wish this MLP-Girls show gets seven seasons and becomes 10x more popular than the original My Little Plastic Landfill Detritus: Friendship is a Empty Buzzword ever did; just to watch OPL blow several new gaskets? :ween:

We know he says he can't stand the Ponies as Girls....but he is probably mass debating to those character models as we speak.

If you don't like the anthropomorphic aspects of MLP, and you don't like horses, why would you watch MLP in the first place?

Question: Is having a bunch of bronies jerk off to cartoon teenagers better or worse than having them jerk off to cartoon horses? :?

Whenever you think you can use "common sense" with something Chris proves there is no such thing when it involves him.

My guess is that this stems from Chris's hatred of cheap ripoffs. And yes, that is ironic on an almost biblical scale.
