I can't fathom how a not stay-at-home dad would have so much time to dedicate to "shitposting IRL" with his wife, becoming one the worst moderators by a long stretch in the history of FP and KO by overmoderating on every single post within minutes of those posts being posted, becoming friends with the inner circle troons on discord by constantly replying to their drivel 24/7, and actively dealing with a growing kid without bags of cash to make it someone else's problem... Plus, I would expect him trying to get sympathy points the minute he became a father by attention whoring, but there's no brag posts about it 2021-2022 on any platform where he posted. Truth be told, he nuked his previous account's content using special access that no normal users have access to, as well as twitters and reddits, which makes it a bit hard to figure out, which is something with his caliber of lunacy would do with a baby on the way, but the timeline is all wrong. I don't buy it.

You're absolutely onto something. Dude is terminally online 24/7. Half of the drama from this site comes from him. There's no way he's a Dad, or more likely, a good Dad. I can imagine a perpetually stressed out working mother, deeply regretting her life choices as she forces a weary smile at whatever hot furry meme her husband is showing her. She nods in agreement that it was a great 'IRL shitpost' as she turns back to change the kids diaper for the third time that day (waut3r has unresolved cpstd from feces due to an extended goon sesh that brought him to scat so he doesn't change the diapers). Later that night they lay in bed and as she tries to get to sleep, she's forced to listen to waut3r recount the bigoted argument he saw on the forums. They share in their gratefulness that he isn't a mod anymore (the additional emotional labour required forced waut3r to reduce his hours at work and he hasn't taken them back up yet) but he still messages the inner circle to make sure the bigot is banned. She finally falls asleep for the day, but knows that she'll be up at 6 in the morning, as waut3r will be too tired from talking down the robotic transgender mouse otherkin from suicide again to tend to the child.

Late as shit but: I can empathize with that, I felt much of the same back when I was active around 2010-2016. It seemed most of the active users had a superiority complex solely because they posted on Facepunch.

ps: i think facepunch was super vile and there was something wrong with the mods, they honestly scared me and they acted like a bunch of psychos, i think everyone on this forum is collectively traumatized so thats why they do this whole "we are actually nice now guys ok" bullshit, but they took it too far and everyone just looks kinda insane because they are overly protective over the most innocuous things, but if you say bad things about them you obviously must hate them all

I am not sure if I would call mods vile (except maybe Maxof2sd, fuck that cunt) they were assholes for sure, I can't recall if it was OIFY or Gold Member Forum regulars but those did go too far at times (and didn't find out till years later). I say you're right in that they're traumatized, in this very same thread we discussed how some of the people who would harass people or conduct raids have been hit super hard by trolls remorse.

I think you're about right. I came on FP as a foreigner who hardly understood English very well, only because I liked Source games and Source modding. And I found FP was very unattractive to post in other sections other than specific threads that had to do with games and modding because the atmosphere was very tense. Also, personally, it was the first place online where I encountered people, like, really going at the news. My previous experience with gaming sites on the Russian web never had that sort of thing at all, we'd just mostly treat world news as some evil clown act that we have to find ways to ignore and endure, but on FP people were having a hard on just chiming in and voicing their dismissal or support of this or that news item. I'm sure it has more to do with the cognitive level of a Russian net user being a little higher because availability of the internet access was lagging behind, but nevertheless. Looking back, I think that FP was run a bit like an English private school, where they rode a thin line of appearing respectable, civil, and sophisticated yet having lots of asinine bullying happening inside also, so it probably left a lot of unaccomplished guys getting additionally habituated to feeling traumatized.
