ya know I thought that KO couldn't possibly get much worse, that's part of why I haven't visited this thread in a while, but holy shit that mod outright stating that they're gonna be stalking users' posts to make sure they aren't misgendering people is just unbelievable to me. How the hell can anyone still sane remain in that place? It's like a far-right parody of what a far-left space might be like, but it's real.

Do they even talk about anything on this forum any more? Or is 90% of their time spent patting each other on the back and making sure no users dare go against the grain?

This right here. It's the reason one of the most horrifying facts is that when they test SS prison camp officers and guards after World War 2 they found that there was no significant difference in rates of mental illness between them and the normal population. The SS weren't insane pyschopaths with a thirst for blood, they were people just like you and me who got ideologically indoctrinated into believing what they were doing was right. The banality of evil is real and is terrifying to think about imo.

You're dealing with bullies. They're perfectly capable of reasoning; they just love bullying more. And when you bully someone, you can say nonsense as long as it doesn't take your power away. In fact, that shows that you have arbitrary power over somebody that much more clearly. The old gaming megathreads like Valve games are more or less the same; the bar has lowered, of course, and some of this shit leaks through, but people still have valuable subjects to discuss, and nobody is getting banned in them for politics because nobody is there for politics. The chat boards are all about bullying scumbags, transphobes, racists, Russians, "retrograde" users, etc.

They can dish it but not take it, like all bullies. And that's when you see crocodile tears. It's true that KF is a bully site, but the bullshit is this dichotomy where they paint themselves as anti-bullies when in reality they love the act of bullying more than your average KF user. That's why they love seeing KF down, they hate the idea that the site exists and they can do nothing about it.

The "functional death" of kiwifarms where it's still online on its original .net domain? Not sure what part of that is "functionally dead". Are they so mindbroken by losing the battle against the farms that they've taken up pretending they actually won?
