Factorio Thread

ok, which one of you are pirating this shit?

Do thumbs down even do something?
considering that Valve has a system in place to negate review bombing at large scale, it wouldn't be surprising if thumbs down does nothing. funny on the other hand...
Visually nothing since Valve once upon a time displayed the dislikes but they're now hidden. Funnies are effectively dislikes depending on the tone, but dislike still exists; it either does literally nothing like elevator door close or it tells the algorithm "this is shit" in the right ratios. Follow your heart, and if that fails your genitals.

elevator doors usually close after three seconds and at maximum 5 seconds.
some manufacturers do have a functional elevator close door but depends on the model, some modern OTIS elevators have a functional close doors button.
also the dislike system is similar to youtube's comment dislike system: only works on shit they want it to.
in general disliking will push the comment to the lowest display priority but there is no way to know if valve made it work or not.
It really is heartwarming to see their lunacy being rejected and backfiring so hard, even.

The level of entitlement and narcissism these twitter/reddit shitheads display still baffles me. 'I will not recommend purchasing this game to a friend until the team at Wube produces some sort of solution... the community is not happy. Do something about it.' 'Kovarex has gone and jeopardized the work of himself and his colleagues'
The sheer denial, it's like a tantrum. Laughed at and outnumbered the whole time and still thinks it can make a threat.
"the community is not happy"
proceeds to ignore the other 600 upboat reviews.
the delusion of a nigger...

The ratings for the Steam reviews show how much of a minority they really are. :story:

Editing to point out the bit about 'keeping his mouth shut and his opinions in check' which I somehow glanced over. At least they're coming clean and just admitting their issue is that anyone would dare resist them but fucking WOW. I fucking despise these people and love when reality hits them like a truck. An actual truck would be fine, too.

The fucked thing is that the playbook works on so many targets. Here it's comical -- the humor comes from the inability to comprehend why it works where it does and why it's not going to here. They are script kiddies blindly following a playbook they don't understand. I'm laughing right now, but underneath I'm seething hard at the absolute state of this shit.

Putting aside actual significant violations of social norms and focusing only on this sort of hamfisted attempt to move the Overton window, it works when the person is dependent on power structures that can themselves be pressured by some combination of fearing the mob and not caring enough to dig through the autism to figure out how long the chain of guilt by association is. Target selection is crucial, and high profile self owns like this significantly hurt the entire movement's power, which is why they tend to double down so often.

A big part of that is shutting up and not taking the rope they give you to hang yourself. You don't have to apologize or back down, but you can't interact with an anonymous mob of nobodies the way you can with a person with skin in the game and a real reputation on the line. You need it to end, or at least become one sided as soon as possible. Kovarex really did not handle this well, even though I think he'll be fine regardless. There is a lot there for them to quote mine that could hurt him far more than the original link ever did, and if he'd just stuck to his original post he'd be untouchable and they'd still be dilating just as hard. You want to juxtapose their seething against a blameless target, and you need to account for the double standards they enjoy.

When you smack them down once and then ignore them as if they're beneath you, you win. Letting them pull you down into the crab bucket with them is playing by their rules, as Alinsky would say. In this case, that was an unforced error. The best example of this is how they put him in the position of defending Uncle Bob by asking him whether he thinks women can't be senior software engineers. He says that's bs, but they can use the very fact that this exchange occurred against him -- it strengthens the (initially) incredibly tenuous link between them. The correct action was to refuse to engage on any of that shit -- as he says in his initial response, he neither knows nor cares.

Wube has it made at this point. To take them down, either Steam and the financial system would have to cancel them (which takes much more than this) or you manage to make their name so toxic that they can't hire employees (a long shot if they were in Silicon Valley but definitely not happening in Eastern Europe, which is full of skilled, based coders who work for peanuts).

I'm enjoying this victory no matter how small, but there were times in the game's development where (in current year political climate) an incident like this could really have closed some doors, even if it's hard to imagine it sinking a game this good entirely.

I know this is a double post, but I think it warrants it:

Would people be interested in doing a Community Succession game for Factorio, a la Dwarf Fortress? It seems like it could be a great game for that sort of play. The only thing would be how to define turn limits...

Why do autistics like this factory/building/railroad shit its so boring. And why are are trannies autistic. There has to be some correlation, internet academics plz respond.
Factorio is one of the best games I've ever played and I have wondered this as well. There is definitely something to games like this that attract retards. What's weird is I'd lump Kerbal Space Program into the same "targeted demographic" bucket of nerds but as far as I know it doesn't have this issue. Though I don't get involved with the community at all and maybe since it's single player only it's just less apparent.

I'd say they're autistic but these people are probably just a bunch of idiots who have so much time on their hands that they learned the game and just got caught in the feedback loop it offers.

I'm not aware if OpenTTD has this same mentally ill reddit-mindset hive buzzing around its community but I wouldn't be surprised. I think this is worth a look into as it's something people tend to be aware of but just ignore.

Are they all on disability/have no friends? Why do these autistics have so much time on their hands, look at CWC
