Factorio Thread

Here's the full text of the Factorio Discord announcement banning talk of this issue:

I appreciate how they didn't mention transphobia, as most places do, in their list of things they don't condone. Very nice.

The fact that Olivia is an anime avatar tr00n is not so nice, but w/e.
Transphobia is common sense. I mean, they are either clinically insane or virtue signaling. Either way they need to be destroyed.

Not that it really matters that much because Wube's successful enough to be a pretty hard target, but Kovarex should quit while he's ahead. The Uncle Bob thing was weak AF, but anything he actually says will be much easier to turn against him. He needs to remember that there's a double standard here. They get to say "go shove X up your ass", for their enemies that's a ban-worthy "personal attack", at least on Reddit. In five years he may find he has a "long history of personal attacks on queer trans nonbinary women of color" if he ever finds himself in more bullshit.

These fuckers are still hoping TotalBiscuit dies of ass cancer and they got what they wanted there -- they have a long memory.

I feel kinda bad for him here because to someone from his part of the world, the connection between cancel culture and Communism, and between communism and mass murder, is plain as day, but many Americans are completely ignorant of the history there for (((some reason))). I feel a bit bad singling out Communism when the Nazis did that shit too, but I like triggering tankies more than I care about being historically accurate.

In fairness, Notch self-identifies as a sad loser. The guy's clearly not well, but I'd rather be mentally ill with billions in the bank than mentally ill in my mother's basement.

The fight has to start somewhere. You give them a Sudetenland and they take a mile. The very fact that you don't have to pander to such a mob is already a revelation for many.

The HEARTBEAT and Factorio scandals demonstrate that people will support games that stand up to this in enormous numbers.

Tight knit group of unironic tranny jannies

They did it for free
"we had to spend 20 hours deleting peoples messages and banning wrongthinkers in order to keep our tranny echo chamber intact!"
incredible how they try to spin a massive power trip into woe is me pity bait

yes and this one is much bigger than the last
heartbeat was a tiny indie freelance thing if i recall correctly, i think it's a one man project (or rather, one woman project) and barely anybody knew about them
factorio on the other hand is pretty large and well known, so this drama got much more exposure and reach overall

I agree, and I'll take any whitepill I can get right now no matter how tiny, even if I have to pretend video games matter to do it.

But this works best when you give them the finger once and move on, rather than going full EVS. He never has to mention this again to make the statement, as long as he doesn't back down either.

picked the game up yesterday, god damn what a time sink. around 10 hours of my life spent on outrageous conveyor belt autism already. haven't figured out much beyond automating the red/green science properly yet but it's been fun. when can i start powering my factory with reddit loser tears?
Get one of those mods that makes the biters drop bone ash which you can then use as boiler fuel in your steam power plant. The more you burn, the more you pollute. The more you pollute, the more biters attack. The more biters attack, the more salty, salty bone ash you get. Etc.

hang on a minute i just need to finish the design document...

do they have automation mods? as much as ONI is retardedly broken they do have some interesting automation mods and a mod which i love it very much that is teleportating stuff between planets since resource fuckery is annoying in that game. factorio seems to round more about with optimizing resource usage rather than gayass micromanagement like ONI.

I don't know anything about factorio mods but the whole game is automation. Most of the goals are automating increasingly complex things or improving previously built processes.
That's something that annoyed me about Factorio's endgame. You spend the entire game improving your belt-fu and using trains, and at the end flying robots become the most efficient way to do shit. Lame.

I completely agree, which is why I use the LTN and Deadlock Stacking mods. Trains and belts become significantly better than bots for large-scale endgame autism.

the whole game is about building an automated factory. you dont need mos for automation
i know about that, i should clear that if there are automation optimizers without needing to build 20 structures and such just to make a simple resource funnel, as in:

They're really not. They're the best way to move around parts to build the items you don't need in large quantities. You're not going to want to use them to move ore to furnaces en mass. They're good for short distances and small amounts of items, or quick patches. They also used to be the best way to load/unload trains but the stack inserters fixed that imbalance.

On defaults it's not that hard to "win" the game but if you want to build a bigger factory or play on other settings, you'll generally not make extensive use of logistics bots unless power is much cheaper than space (deathworld, some mods, etc).

Automation: LTN is the only one I'd really recommend over the base game. You want to get really big, you're going to make extensive use of trains, and the built in system, while impressive, can be frustrating to coordinate hundreds of trains. (There was a patch since I've played that the devs said was intended to improve this). Other than that, blueprints, copy/paste should be all you need.

I came for CWC^H^H^H the drama but I guess I can sperg about the game as much as I want without going offtopic lol.

There are mods that better automate processes like oil extraction, though.

Generally speaking, here's how Factorio works from the very beginning until the very end:
Learn how to do something new -> Do it the hard way once -> Research new tech that lets you automate the SHIT out of it -> copy-paste your design into a gigantic roiling autistic mass -> move onto the next problem

Compared to Factorio, automation in ONI is a fucking joke. They're not even comparable.

download P.U.M.P. and never look back
