I usually use this. Not my blueprint but exact same design. If you need 4-way junctions, plop it, rotate and overlay 3 times and you're done.

Aye this is the basic 4 way junction. Reasonably easy to construct and requires minimal signalling so long your outbound track is always free. Only prone to gridlock once your railway gets busy but at that point you got plenty of option.

Second this, one-way rails chained through junctions works the best for simplicity and understanding (the concept is a great way to learn about signals, stations, and train schedules/interrupts), and will only encounter throughput problems once you get the megabase itch. Can add a cul-de-sac onto one side of the junction as well if you want an quick station blueprint for loading/unloading. Added benefit is how nicely it meshes with city-block designs since it naturally encourages you to run your power and bot net alongside the rails.

I tried for the last week to find a game comparable to Factorio, but was unsuccessful because it's all nigslop trash and Factorio is the only in game in history that is actually worth 70 dollars. I am in awe of white excellence, but also disappointed. I guess I'll just mod the game more instead.

The closest games are Shapez, Dyson Sphere Program, and Satisfactory. With the exception of maybe Shapez 2 none come close to the amount of QoL and polish Factorio offers, I wish every game company was as good as Wube.

Sandustry is a pretty neat "pixel physics" game (Factorio x Noita) but still in a rough Early Access.
Widget Inc is indie slop that leans more on the incremental aspect, could be worth it for a day or two.
BELTFED goes all-in on the factory fighting aspect but still years away, demo to come soon-ish.

I guess there are Minecraft mods (the original inspiration of Factorio), but the one time I tried Greg Tech: New Horizon I spent 50% of my play time alternating between scratching my head and banging it against a wall because the mods that constitute the modpack are extremely arcane to a new comer. I never managed to get either of the two pipe mods to get my fluid from machine A to B.

I don't know if it's just autism but I can't play any of those games where you're just a floating godhead in the sky magically dropping shit out of your ass, instead of running around doing shit yourself. It's much more satisfying to work up to that point in Factorio with bots and remote view, you really get the sense of progression. Even the top recommended games like Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Program I just did not like (especially DSP).

I have played a lot of modded Minecraft, Create would be an awesome analog to Factorio if it was less jank to control. Gregtech packs (basically just GTNH) are my go to nowadays. You probably fucked something simple up, if you were using the starter fluid pipes like wood or copper. There have also been many, many updates that have smoothed out the experience a lot over the years. GT pipes visually change when you use a wrench on them, only certain machines auto output, and only certain sides of them. You can draw from any side of a Railcraft water tank, and build the pipe over to a boiler to get a feel for the system. Shift/ctrl rightclicking the pipes also disallow flow in one direction, indicated by arrows. Pipes have a temperature limit, wooden pipes cannot transport steam.

Sandustry is dogshit and it's unlikely to improve because it's pretty evident the dev isn't really a gameplay guy. I don't really understand why it made a splash, I guess the publisher is doing their job.

The completely unknown Atomcraft is the true falling sand game to satisfy Factorio player tisms. Your goal is to fix a rocket by collecting (nearly) the entire periodic table. You do this by eventually engineering dozens of little (or big) per-pixel chemical reactors for distilling, smelting, and reacting/reducing/whatever shit you dig up into what you want (or supplying sustainable fuels/reactants for your machines), as well as spending the products to unlock gear for your mining trips and tech to build more advanced little factories.

You spend most of your time in Sandustry suffering because it tries to prop up the poorly-thought-out factory-flavoured stuff by crippling the fuck out of the player so the molasses-ass conveyor belts and shit (which I guess have to be slow as shit because the "belting everything into a central factory" premise doesn't really work in a 2D game of this sort so they'd run empty immediately otherwise) actually seem worthwhile--only for that all to run empty and be ignored by the midgame anyway when you have more ingredients/cash than you need and are working on other shit... while your movement speed and tools remain gimped as fuck forever.
In Atomcraft you spend pretty much the whole time doing the actually fun part of planning out, troubleshooting and improving the little contraptions you've built.
Or just admiring your solutions as they run. Which is an aspect Sandustry also lacks, since most shit can be accomplished exactly one way and it gives it to you in a tooltip video, while any obvious interactions that seem like they should work simply don't if they aren't in the gifs.

NB: there's a comprehensive lookup system in-game so you don't need to be a chemistry nerd, except maybe for endgame decay products, which can be bypassed by just fucking nuking the planet's mantle or whatever and filling your pockets. I can't into chem shit but I had a blast and learned some things.

I think a lot about factorio 2, or just more expansions. But I know Wube have said before that they consider it finished with space age. I really hope it isn't, factorio is a masterpiece - I NEED MORE.

That's what the overhaul mods are for. Unless you've already beaten Space Exploration, Seablock, Nullius, and Pyanadons to name a few.

I hope you are wrong, but I fear you are right. It looks cool but I will not put a dime in it until 1.0.

Satisfactory will scratch the itch. But they can make more, they just have to make more content. More materials and enemies and stuff. Let us live on the hope.

Hello chat, Can't you put OR in brackets? I want the train to wait TIME then leave if (Station is more than X full or Cargo empty. )

The Above seem to work anyway.

IMO a lot of them are problematic (albeit subjectively) in that they break with the game's aesthetics. A lot of these mods have very jarring (and often competing) sprite design which hurts the overall feel of the game and how zoned in you get. It's why I think the best total overall from a visual perspective was Industrial Revolution, which really sucks because the mod creator is an utter fag.

Plus there's a lot of over-complexity in production chains for these mods that doesn't yield fun as much as frustration. It goes to show just how fine-tuned and tested the base game is in terms of game progression, especially in terms of new stuff like recycling and spoilage.

Some mods are slowly providing options at least. There's a few planet mods like Panglia and Moshine that feel like natural additions, and some mechanics expansions like Quality++ that give you a reason to megabase. Not specifically new content in most cases, but difference enough that shocks you after dumping another few hundred hours into a playthrough

No you can't. Technically the current way does not prevent implementing the same logic, but it's sure annoying to repeat the conditions. If you're doing a space platform's schedule you can fit a bunch of conditions in a Decider Combinator and have the schedule use the resulting circuit signal instead, to reduce the duplication. Make sure to check the 'Read Circuits Signals' box in the Hub if you do so.
