I can't even really find out what Uncle Bob did aside from being a fucking white male and I assume wealthy also - it's been a long time since I heard that name but the Agile manifesto was a very welcome alternative to developing software, which used to be done in a very top-down fashion with little collaboration between programmers and the people they were programming for.
Some companies were working in this way already but this gave the practice a name and a set of documentation to go along with it. Some software necessarily must be done in a top-down way (landing gear firmware for example) but most line of business software can be done in this way.
He made some jokes about female programmers (apologised for) and also made a few highly controversial statements that I shall repeat (please stop reading if you are of a sensitive disposition)

You can't really apply any rule to every imaginable situation. For instance, I probably would if someone had talked some shit about America, but if someone said they were donating every penny in earnings to ISIS to kill Americans, no.
