Nickelodeon has released the trailer and key art for “The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish.” The 20-episode series will premiere Monday, May 20 at 4:30 p.m. ET on Nickelodeon and will stream on Netflix internationally later this year.

According to an official logline, “The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish” follows “ten-year-old Hazel Wells [who] has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job. On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors…they’re Cosmo and Wanda, Fairy Godparents! And they’re coming out of retirement to make all of Hazel’s wishes come true.”

As previously reported by Variety, Ashleigh Crystal Hairston will voice Hazel while “Fairly OddParents” alums Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee will reprise their roles as Cosmo and Wanda, respectively.

The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation and co-executive produced by David Stone, Lindsay Katai, Hairston and Daniel Abramovici. Fred Seibert and Butch Hartman serve as executive producers. Production is overseen by Claudia Spinelli, senior vice president of TV series animation at Nickelodeon, and Kelley Gardner, vice president of current series animation at Nickelodeon. The series is overseen by Neil Wade.

The original “Fairly OddParents” ran on Nickelodeon for 10 seasons with 172 episodes between 2001-2017. The series also spawned three live-action films starring Drake Bell as a 23-year-old Timmy Turner. In 2022, Paramount+ released a live-action sequel series “Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder,” which saw Timmy gift Cosmo and Wanda to his cousin Viv (Audrey Grace Marshall) before he left for college.

Trying to merge 2d and 3d in the most jarring, unpleasant way possible, yuck. And the chick's hair legitimately looks like a pile of mealworms or something from a horror movie.

I know they're trying to emphasize her hair because the usual suspects practically orgasm about Animated Natural Hair TM, but for chrissakes. This looks like something you'd get yelled at for not trigger warning over on Tumblr.

Why are they always skateboarders? Why? Every fucking time? And of course, everyone loves this character and he can do no wrong, very interesting and well developed personality, just excellent writing.
We need a word for Mary Sue but for tranny characters. Lilith Stu. I dunno.

Didn't they already do a failed sequel?
Yes and it was scrubbed from the streaming service and internet as a whole by the IP holders after it ended.

Original the character TOTALLY NOT TIMMY THE HAIRS PURPLE AND THE HATS NOT STYLIZED LIKE THE HATS IN THE SHOW WERE AT THE START!
I genuinely enjoyed this cartoon when it first came out when I was younger. The jokes were cleverer that most cartoon shit.
It was fucking peak joke wise and I forgot for a bit due to the slop it became in the later seasons till YT autoplay randomly brought up a bootleg 24/7 livestream of the first few seasons on loop a few years ago, like right before the pandemic hit IIRC.

Thread relevant joke, by the way.
EDIT: I HATE THE YOUTUBE VIDEO COPYRIGHT BLOCK FEATURE I HATE THE YOUTUBE COPYRGHT BLOCK FEATURE

Wow. Went straight for those DEI bonus points.

Black, female main character with an rats nest of "Natural Black Person hair"

Dangerhair "Non-Binary 10-year old" best friend.

Hideous CGI art style that looks like a cheap AI shat it out.

This is probably going to be terrible but constantly pushed like that Velma shitshow.
It's probably going to be worse than velma. Velma was shit but in a different way that was an attempt at being "self aware" about the self inserting of the people behind it and then having most of the jokes just be "uuuh white people have too much money! also SEEEEEX!". As much of a fucking trashfire as Velma was it had more passion than this. That show just made me groan. This? I can't fucking even stand like 2 seconds of the trailer before I want to tab out lmao.

In the live action film adult Timmy gets to use Cosmo and Wanda's magic to help people as part of a new rule in the book named after him. So either he lent Cosmo and Wanda to Hazel as a good deed or one of these is non-canon.
What, they couldn't retire Cosmo and Wanda and make up some other fairies? Who is this even FOR?
