G'evening. Since it's soon going to be Christmas Holidays where I live, I find myself contemplating a vast, terrifying wasteland of free time that I have absolutely no idea what to do with. While I was desperately contemplating potential activities, I suddenly remembered that Fallout 4 recently came out. Then I remembered that A) I never buy Triple-A video games until they've dropped a minimum of two price categories, and B) I never buy Bethesda games before they've had at least six months worth of patches applied to them first.

However, I also remembered that I have the complete Fallout collection installed on my hard drive, up to and including New Vegas. Since I've played every single one of those games roughly six times each, I thought it might be fun to try things a little differently this time. Enter this LP idea, wherein I propose taking a character through Fallout 2, which in my opinion is the best game in the series. Full disclosure; I've never done an LP before, but I am a creative writer, and I've always wanted to take a stab at doing an LP of a narrative-driven game like Fallout 2 before.

This LP would be screenshot-based, with a fair amount of audience participation. You get to choose my character build, as well as how my character makes certain major decisions that'll affect the fate of settlements in the wasteland. I will do my best to be informative for those who haven't played the game, and you can expect to see just about everything it can offer; I'm a pretty determined completionist. I will also be using the Restoration Project mod for the game, which adds a massive amount of previously dummied-out content, all of it playable and relatively bug-free.

So what do you think? Is this worth a try? Ideally, I'd want about four to five interested people before I commit to this project. Updates ought to be decently frequent, as well. As I said above; I'll have an absurd amount of free time, so editing and putting together a decent LP won't be that difficult to keep on schedule.

Quick Edit: This would be a screenshot LP.

Yes please, good God yes please. I for one would love to see a FO2 LP. For traits, go for gifted. You may get skills lowered a bit but the SPECIAL's all get a 1 point boost. Any other trait, avoiding fast shot since that takes away the ability to do eye and crotch shots. Invest in unarmed since 1) you can beat things with your fist and 2) it won't take long to get some brass knuckles or spiked knuckles if you don't mind stealing. For SPECIAL, have agility at 10 to maximize AP use and have some perception around 6-9 maybe. Don't forget intelligence as well.

Gifted is basically like being allowed a Shotgun option in a game of rock-paper-scissors. I'm totally fine with taking it, but if other people feel like it's a little on the powerful side (FYI: It isn't a gamebreaker, but it is certainly a minmaxer's dream), I don't mind skipping it either.

I'd like to see LP's take off here so this definitely gets my vote.

Don't forget to have the character befall misfortunes like stepping in radioactive puddles too much and getting that extra toe.

Considering misfortunes, can we have the jinxed trait used for this character? Be nice to have critical failures.

There's very few games in which I can grow an extra toe, cut if off and eat it, and that saddens me.

INT 1 LUCK 10.

Alternatively: max out charisma, go through with the shotgun wedding in Modoc, and see how long you can keep your worthless spouse alive before he or she is eaten alive by wolves.

A low INT build might be amusing for comedy value, but I much prefer being able to actually build a narrative beyond 'dumb guy hilariously stumbles everywhere'. Plus, I think that anybody who wants such an LP would be better served by reading this one.

Good point. In that case, how about full tribal build? Melee/throwing and only tag low-tech tribal skills, no guns/doctor/repair/science etc allowed.

Throwing in my experience is literally useless (grenades are horribly rare, and most ineffectual anyway). Everything else sounds perfectly plausible. However, I'd note that the tribals generally aren't totally uncivilized. They still have agriculture, after all, and there's no reason somebody couldn't have a basic knowledge of certain skills from books or other sources.
