Fallout 4 mods

Has anyone here used any mods for Fallout 4? I'm definitely going to use a few that'll help the game run more smoothly on my laptop. I'm also considering a mod that lets you play the whole game as Dogmeat, and a mod that puts in more green grass a foliage.

I haven't but I do want to use the unofficial patch. Hopefully, that deals with both loading and a Cabot House bug. I also can't wait for some mods that add in new games for the pip-boy.

One of Fallout 4 modders who made a reletively well used mod had a chimpout over console modding, and basically called for paid mods.
"no

Basically I mod for PC for free because I'm giving back to the community that I have received so much from. It's a symbiotic relationship.

I won't mod for consoles for free because console gaming is a bane on PC gaming. Just because there is so many console gamers, your very existence makes game developers not value PC gamers. And you contribute nothing to the modding community. I won't enter into a parasitic relationship with console gamers. I'm against weakening the position of PC gaming by giving away one of our greatest strengths, the modding experience, and getting nothing in return. So unless a system is set up which will allow you to contribute to the modding community in the form of payment for our time, effort, and creativity, I suggest you switch to PC gaming.

Gratitude doesn't pay for food, and donations don't buy enough of it to not starve. I work pretty much full time job hours on mods, and it would be really nice to make a living instead of slowly draining my savings living in poverty on an extremely austere budget."
Really, suprised there isnt a thread for modding communities and their chimpouts.

As much as how one could sperg in how PC gaming is better than console gaming, this chimpout just reeks of being pathetic. The bane console gaming could have on PC gaming at best would be something like exclusive titles or making the PC version have the same graphics as console so as to "not compete" or something like that. Asking for paid mods will only make more backdraft. As much as modding is one of PC gaming's greatest strengths, does this guy really think an unofficial patch and UI overhaul will be the most famous? Not really if it competes with banal mods such as nude bodies and any generic Star-Wars .

Many PC gamers despised paid mods and for good reason. For every good mod out there, there are a lot of bad mods and if one wanted to make a full time job in making mods, why not just make your own game or something like that. Hell, do what Obsidian did and make your own game with Bethesda's construction kit if that is allowed. Apologies for whatever autism I showed but damn that is some fine salt the guy showed. As for modding community chimp-outs, one that could be brought up is some patch/mod drama over Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. To sum that up, two guys make their own patch and one of them acts like a drama queen to the point that he has his own forum of asspatters thinking the other guy is shit.

if i recall correctly, he wanted paid mods to be a console only thing.

We need a community thread for tech war spergs who constantly act as if Apple or Microsoft aren't equally terrible for their own reasons.

As for Fallout 4 mods, I am currently envisioning a Fallout 4 DUST overhaul.

It will still apply bits and pieces of the new Survival Mode but even more difficult, may contain some :autism:

I have a lot of mods, 201 .esp's, and for the first time with a Bethesda game I don't have to live in fear of a game update or a mod conflict ruining everything for me. Maybe Nexus deserves all the credit, but I've only had 2 or 3 mods that caused problems or didn't work. I highly recommend mods that increase damage done to enemies and the player, Arbitration is one good example. I can't stand the bullet sponge enemies in the vanilla game, it shouldn't take 20 .50 cal rounds to kill someone. Also, mods that add new guns and ammunition are essential.

there is this one cyborg limb mod i like to use. if
kellog can have all those institute augments (to lazily explain away why he's 100+ years old but still looks young and then never be mentioned again)
then why cant you? especually when you own the institute? also the mod is kind of balanced in that you need a bunch of high-level INT perks and rare mats to make the add-ons for the limbs to do anything cool and possibly game breaking like to be able to explode heads by punching them

there is one mod i also use that adds a bunch of new gun attachments too. one of them is a pistol grip for the combat rifle which i always kind of wanted since the game game out. also you can make pistol and revolver carbines.

oh, dont forget armorsmith and that armor crafting mod with the ammo workbenches. weaponcrafting mod too. and the MGS V scarf/eyepatch mod

also this isnt a mod but playing on the new survival mode is THE way to play the game now. its basically a built-in special needs mod with a simulated immune system and sleep quality system, and you can only save by sleeping in beds which ups the difficulty a lot. all drugs (INCLUDING STIMPACKS) dry your mouth out, and all healing done to you is much slower. also it doubles the damage done by everybody, including you. except you only do 150% until you kill enough guys, then you charge up to and stay at 200% until you go to sleep again which puts you back to 150% after you wake up. think of it like your character is waking/warming up for the first few fights

Will you tell me about some of these, please?

The only three I know of currently are the ones that reskin Nick as a newer synth model or enhances the details of his original in-game skin. Oh and the better texture pack but that's sort one that's probably on everyone's radar at this point.

Ad victorium, and beyond.
(Gonna need to start survival on my ps4)

Will you tell me about some of these, please?

Sure thing. Not sure how much experience you have with it, but if you want to get to modding fast and simple, the easiest way to do this is Nexus Mods. Click on "install mod manager" at the top, possibly make an account, and run the mod manager. Now, whenever you click on a mod, you can go to the "install NMM" button on the Nexus and it will download into the manager where you can install it with a simple double click. There are some text files that need a line or two changed in your Fallout folder, but I think Nexus Mod Manager might do this automatically now.

As for mods themselves, I'll go into detail on the ones I consider essential:

Gameplay:
Arbitration- This mod is a collection of tweaks that change gameplay and AI behaviors. Enemies are better at spotting and engage from longer distances, they use cover more, use grenades more intelligently, etc. Every change is optional, you choose what changes you want through a menu when you install it in the mod manager. I mainly use this for the increased damage options, which I turn to max. I like high lethality shooters and at the highest damage settings players and AI will die in only a few hits or less.

Homemaker
- This adds a lot more settlement building options, like planters for crops and a lot more of every type of furniture.

Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource(AWKCR)- this is essential if you want to use any weapon mods. It ensures that they all work together and don't create conflicts, and integrating many weapon mods into the world requires this mod and a patch for your mod of choice. Also adds a "weaponsmith workbench" where you can craft modded-in guns for a reasonably balanced amount of resources.

Armorsmith Extended- This requires AWKCR to use. It adds many more clothing slots so if you want to layer your clothing, you can wear a shirt under armor and a jacket over it, sunglasses and a bandana at the same time, etc. Whereas in the vanilla game you can't wear armor and a coat or two different face accessories at the same time. Pretty much essential in my opinion. Also adds an armorsmith workbench where you can craft armor, though in my game it doesn't work very well.

Legendary Modification
- Allows you to add legendary effects (explosive, two-shot, plasma, etc.) to your weapon at the workbench. The mod gives options as to what you want the cost of such a powerful option to be. You can make it cheap, very expensive in resources, or make it only possible by scrapping other legendary weapons, which is the one I go with.

Guns:
You'll need AWKCR to get most gun mods. Many will be incorporated into the item lists of gunners and raiders and merchants, but if you have a lot of gun mods they'll overwrite eachother here. In order to get multiple gun mods to work together, you'll need to search for a "leveled list" mod on the Nexus, and you have to have every mod featured in it for it to work. The Leveled Lists mod I use has been taken down by the author, and I don't know which one is the best right now.

I have dozens of gun mods, but the ones I like the most are: M2216(M16), AK47, R91(FN FAL/FNC), Glock 20

To find more gun mods, go to Nexusmods.com>fallout4>files>categories>weapons> and search "standalone"

Also lightsabers, because why the fuck not?

So I downloaded the Nexus mod manager and put in several moda. How do I check to see if they are active and working?

Have they made mods for bigger testicles, and a mod to add gratuitous cock and ball talk to the dialogue yet?
If such a thing were to exist, one would only wonder what floodgates are opened with Fallout 4 modding.

Necroing thread cause the mods thought it was too of topic for the Fallout 76 thread.

Decided to play through 4 again, going to play the DLCs for the first time, but also want to add mods. Just looking for recommendations for mods. I'm adding a Warhammer weapons mod, bit just curious is there are others that add to the depth of the game.

I plan on largely ignoring the main storyline, as I thought it was shit, and focusing on the DLCs. I'm not that interested in the settlement, and love exploring locations and looting them.

Gun mods bro. Service Rifle, M1A, Hunting Shotgun (for an actual pump instead of double-barreled and an abomination), Anti-material Rifle, FN FAL SA58, DKS 501, etc. It goes a long way to improving Fallout 4's abysmal weapons selection. Laser weapons are particularly bad, so be sure to get the LAER and Wattz mods. Maybe a plasma caster mod, too, if you can find one. Of course, there's other gun mods too, but too many might unbalance the game. 9mm pistol, Grease Gun, MP7, M1 Garand, Caravan Shotgun and the .45 Auto Pistol are all options.

Something like Vivid Weathers is always a plus when it comes to general tone of the game, and I've been using Boston Natural Surroundings to make the game look less dead and more like 76. I also user Darker Nights and an NVG mod to compensate (it also lowers enemy detection range iirc), but your mileage may vary on that.

I don't have too many armor mods, but some essential ones that bring in armor from other games include the X-02 and X-03 mods, the Chinese stealth suit and NV stealth suit mods, the NCR veteran ranger mod (plus the Desert ranger variant), and for a modern tacticool armor set, Private Military Company and the Extended add-on.

Finally, there's the "other" mods that are just useful. The Unofficial patches of course, but also Achievements, Companion Infinite Ammo, Armorsmith Extended (which requires AWKCR), PAMAP, and Consistent Power Armor Overhaul.

That's pretty much every mod I use to make the game not suck. If you're going CBBE, you're going to need BodySlide for all the armor mods I gave.

In addition here's a few that unfuck some of Fallout 4's fuckier design choices:

Extended Dialogue Interface so you actually fucking know what you're saying to people.

Unlimited Companion Framework because Bethesda decided even having one person and a dog following you is too much.

Survival Options because Bethesda's survival mode sucks dick.

Another Life: Alternate Start so you can more effectively ignore the buttfuck of a main storyline.

Yes, I have a very love-hate relationship with this game.
