Fallout 4 mods

There was also a mod for FO4 that let you wear a suit of power armor more in line with how they were presented in 3 and New Vegas. I forgot its name.

Well, damn. A bunch of the QoL mods I was going to mention are already in here, so I guess I'll tackle alternative storyline options.

Even if you hate the MC having such a pre-defined backstory, America Rising is actually a pretty nice fit for the SS, being from pre-war America. Basically adds in rebuilding the Enclave in your image, and making the Minutemen a branch of the Enclave. This is my personal recommendation of the two story overhauls I'm familiar with, and make sure to grab Atlas Summit for an Enclave player home with some pretty neat stuff, like a series of short simulations (including defending the Poseidon Oil Rig from a BoS attack) that unlock vaults of goodies alá Operation Anchorage. Best part is the main mod will detect and interact with both Atlas Summit and many other common Enclave mods like X-02/3 power armor, implementing them into the Enclave faction.

Outcasts and Remnants offers an alternate main quest route with the ability to invade and start a revolution in the Institute, which is a pretty nice way to take over that faction and makes being the Director of the Institute feel like being a leader, rather than "oh, you're the boss now but you don't get to change anything lol". Where it starts to fray is that some of the factions, places, and things that it adds are... Kind of lore-rapey to varying degrees. There's a gang of pimps from the Mojave, which is pretty arguable, but the EDM/techno jazz remixes playing in their club is horseshit in my eyes. There's a new group of brotherhood outcasts who want to go back to Lyon's way of doing things. Preston Garvey is outed as a conman and infiltrator by the Enclave (who are also backing the Gunners) and you can gun him down. Oh, and worst of all, there's a party city buried under the Glowing Sea that is working on their own teleportation technology. So YMMV on whether it's worth it or not. I found myself growing increasingly disgruntled at the bullshit factions, but the payoff of actually taking over the institute was nice.

Yeah, as perhaps the only person who likes Preston I did not dig the plot twist in Outcasts and Remnants.

50 ways to die at Dr. nick's is a fun one. Kind of goofy and silly but enjoyable if you're looking for something like that. If you are looking for a more lore-friendly mod then give this one a pass.

Tales from the Commonwealth is a more lore-friendly mod that adds content. Fits seamlessly into the game.

Sim Settlements streamlines the whole settlement process. Now you can assign plots to be residential, commercial, farming, or security and your settlers will construct it themselves. Has two official expansions and myriad unofficial ones as the mod author plays well with others. I feel more like a general when I can delegate tasks for others to complete.

I hate Preston, and I thought that shit was retarded. Character assassinating an already bad (imo) character like that doesn't make the mod great, it makes the authors look like a 15 year old (or allah forgive me, a redditor) fishing for praise. Badly.

50 ways is actually by the same people who did Outcasts and Remnants, and doesn't offer the stuff that made the bullshit in O&R worth playing through, at least in my opinion.

Tales and Sim Settlements are both great. I actually can't believe SS hadn't been mentioned til you brought it up.

I care so little about settlements I haven't even used a mod to make it easier is the reason I didn't mention it. I probably should have remembered it, though, I have heard it makes settlements more tolerable for people who like the idea but hate the implementation.

@Polyboros2 I forgot to mention a couple things. Companions Go Home allows you to dismiss companions to their home instead of them being stuck at one of your settlements once you dismiss them there once. Better Dials for Power Armor really makes the Power Armor UI look less drab.

And finally, if you (god forbid) want some of the Creation Club shit, this link has every single one. Just install the files you choose with your mod manager.

Not sure about most of the others but Tunnel Snakes Rule is pretty neat if just for the "Classic 10mm"/Colt 6520. The Anti-Materiel Rifle and Hellfire power armor are far shittier than the free mods that add the same items on Nexus Mods, though.

Pretty much. The Chinese Stealth Armor is the same way, less features than the mod. It's sad when modders take advantage of the armor/weapon customization system that has potential but Bethesda can't. I mostly installed the paint jobs and item packs for player home customization. Captain Cosmos is worth it, and the Heavy Incinerator and Tesla Cannon make up for the lack of heavy weapons. Too bad you have to pay for them instead of them being included in the damn game.

Oh, shit, I failed to notice the Heavy Incinerator and Tesla Cannon happened! Definitely grabbing those.

Heavy weapons reminded me, the Laser Cannon is a pretty cool heavy weapon. I wish the design was more in line with other military laser weapons, but it isn't terrible, and a fuckoff huge laser is a great addition to any playthrough. Be aware, this bastard eats fusion cores in about 5 shots.

For the plasma caster, The Winchester P94 has what you need, at least now that the mod author apparently finally fixed the broken fucking mod crafting for it.

My personal favorite mods introduce ww2-vietnam era weapons into the game.

Mods that give you raider decor (turned the red rocket truckstop into the frigging Texas Chainsaw massacre house with that one)

The MOD that makes the pack in Nuka world have black outfits without the outlandish colors so they look less like wasteland furries

And the imperial brotherhood of steel MOD that turns them into nazis (minus the symbols and all because console and all that) basically showing their true colors

It'd be nice to have some variety in heavy weapons. It's basically gatling laser, rocket launcher, fat man for heavy weapons that are worthwhile to use (minigun is kind of weak, junk jet has less range than my piss stream and has less force, cryolator might be good I've never used it, same goes for the flamer)

Idk if people still play fallout 4 but I enjoy from time to time. I only play a bit because I don’t really like the story but it has mods on consoles. Another issue I have from playing console is that it does a what I’ll call a super crash, basically the game freezes boots me to the menu and any game that I try playing (wether it’s fallout or others) it won’t start.

I was happy recently because someone finally added a 1920s variant of the Thompson smg as a mod. It’s a pretty neat one and I’d recommend checking it out if you don’t like 4s smg. I also like modding the game with more ww2 weapons if it’s not obvious.

I can't think of many specifics but I always need something to fix the dialogue system. I get the mute PC mod, the extended dialogue interface, darker nights, survival mode options (seriously, limited saving in a Bethesda game? Fuck that.) And weapon additions/replacements of your choice.
