I'm astounded by the hundreds of replies jerking off Bethesda as if making some bags they won't even get fixes everything. Did they just forget that the game the bags were for is still a steaming pile of shit?
Fanboys are too blindly loyal nowadays. Some fucking handbags? That's seriously enough to make those boobs forget everything Bethesda's done in the last few weeks and all the outright lies? This modern state of company/brand worship is going too far.

Corporations will become nations and their blindly loyal consumers their soldiers. I'm hoping my corponation goes up against McDonald's Farm.

I half-jokingly called this in chat earlier, I didn't think it would really happen, I didn't think the bags would really distract people from the state of the actual game this effectively.
hashtag kill all gamers

It's not like this is even their first slip-up, it's not like their games haven't been declining in quality ever since Oblivion, it's not like the warning signs haven't been there all along.

I knew they were going to be lazy, I just wasn't prepared for how "I don't give a flying fuck anymore, see if we can hire some people fresh out of college, put em to work, and tell them it's free internships with Bethesda"

And yet there are people still, STILL, who will go "oh you are just attacking poor Bethesda" like Jesus, it's not some sick old man who can't work well anymore, it's a corporation who thinks a few ads, a few calls to some gaming sites, and you'll eat dog shit out of their hand.

Hey, maybe they are right, if this is what we are still seeing.

Well they just got away with it completely courtesy of exceptional fanboys. Expect Starfield and TESVI to be Fallout 76 quality or lower because they have absolutely no incentive to make a good product.

Fuck everything.
More than one release in a row of this quality will still sink them. The consumer can only lie to themselves so hard about their feelings.

Iv'e been around since people were shitting on Fallout 4, and honestly, having seen this trashfire, I have to say I think Fallout 4 deserves better.

Fallout 4, while simplified to an insulting degree and loaded down with asinine coding decisions, at least, in most general particulars, it worked, was moddable for free, and modders were able to make it a far better game than what we got at launch.

After seeing this trash fire, Fallout 76 makes me want to go back in time to everyone who took a shit on Fallout 4 and show them what would come after.

I'm pretty sure at least a third would concede maybe they were a bit too harsh.

Fallout 4 is... okay. My main beef with it is that removing wear on equipment and the Obsidian enhancements like custom ammo types and a richer food system really killed the gritty survival vibe. And the balance is so utterly fucked that you can't tweak NPC damage to make humans into a valid threat without also making robots able to one-shot you in power armor. I've been replaying New Vegas recently because you can make that into a legitimately challenging game by just modding it to make ammo and healing items rarer.

It doesn't. Everything that's wrong with F:76 was also present in Fallout 4. The only major difference was that Fallout 4 had a single player campaign in addition to all the bullshit MMO grind mechanics. I would even argue that F:76 is better because its a multiplayer game, so you don't end up grinding bear asses by yourself for hours on end like you were expected to in F:4.

Fuck Fallout 4 and fuck game companies who insert MMO mechanics into single player games to pad out play times.

Fair point, but I still contend Fallout 4 had the redeeming virtue that most of the suck could be modded out and with some work, the game could be enjoyable enough you at least didn't mind buying it while it was on sale.

Fallout 76 could be sold for a massive markdown or even made free and you could still feel ripped off.

I don't deny Fallout 4 was a harbinger of worse things to come, but compared to F76, I'm not ashamed to admit I bought Fallout 4 around launch and I still felt it was ultimately enough fun (albeit modded, but that's standard for Bethseda games) it was worth it in the long run.

At the same time, it was a dire enough warning I waited until I heard F76 was a confirmed MMO (or a bastardized parody of such) before I said "nope, fuck this, Fallout 4 was bad enough, not getting anywhere near this shit".

Yeah, only the biggest haters shill out 200 dollars, so they can then whine about a miniscule detail. It's not like there was an ongoing, deliberate campaign of false advertisement going with Bethesda hoping noone would notice. It's not like this whole ordeal was just a big fucking mess that is one giant metaphore for how Bethesda has been running things for a decade now.

If anything, that is an aknowledgement of the capabilities of the modding community and absolutely no feat pertaining to FO4 itself.
Bethesda's biggest contribution is not interfering with this, which is something they attempted with Oblivion, where they burned their hands severely and thus learned their lesson.
We shouldn't be happy with Bethesda for "allowing" people to fix their shitty products, we should expect them to deliver a non-shitty product when it is released. Anything less should make us mad, we should not go "Oh, but the community will fix it eventually". Bethesda's job, the thing they get our money for, is to deliver that on day 1, not just standing by the sidelines, idly watching while fans fix the mess for free afterwards.

There's a great German word for this kind of thing: Armutszeugnis, the "evidence of poverty", usually meant to indicate incapacity or incompetence. Bethesda is a multi-billion dollar company, yet they are dependent on fans to fix their stuff and make it work.
That's just shameful beyond words.

Spending 200 bucks on a bag and helmet makes somebody retarded to begin with.

Don't lower your standards. Capitalism breaks when consumers do that.
