Fallout 76 General Thread - Bethesda does it again!

Bethesda didn't develop ESO they only published it.

ESO was made by Zenimax online using the hero engine. What's weird though is there parent company Zenimax media also owns Bethesda, so you think they would of reach out to them for at least advice.
They weren't trying to make a good game, they were trying to make the quickest cheapest game as service product they could because they had a huge empty period between FO4 and Starfield. The boomers that run Bethesda were worried more about their stock then their reputation because they know their paypigs will just get excited for new product anyway.

Switching engines and porting assets cost money and time, they already have a ton of development tools for their fork of Gamebryo. On paper Gamebryo does MMOs just fine (iirc Rift is Gamebryo) so I can easily imagine a dim business major convincing themselves that FO76 wasn't doomed to hemorage good will and consumer loyalty for fairly small returns.

Unless Zenimax is looking to give Bethesda's top execs (Pete Hines, Todd Howard, etc) enough rope to hang themselves with by suggesting that they're doing a good job.

If I was a Zenimax executive would be very surprised to know that despite Bethesda owning "Fallout" for over a decade, that one people really liked was made by an outside company (Obsidian) and the company has essentially tranished thier IP through a weird mobile game (shelter), a disappointing numbered game (FO4), and then a blatant garbage cash grab (FO76). Not only that, but they aren't doing amazing things with thier other properties either and seem to take a long time to do anything.

I think that Bethesda got a ton of breathing room with Skyrim, but if ES6 is as mediocre as FO4 was - I think some heads are going to roll.

It will. It fucking will. It’s gonna be so underwhelming Crowbcat will make a video on it. It’s gonna be Skyrim but less memorable and with base building shoved down your sphincter.

By the same guy who made that video of the inventory hack.
The comments on that video are amazing. This guy's a fucking legend.

Some whiny Youtube bitch said:
You feel good about yourself making a child cry? Reported for child abuse. Pathetic.

An internet tough guy said:
talk like that to a grown up face to face instead of hiding behind a computer screen. We can meet face to face you pick the state I’ll pay your way back after I’m done.

He (the video's uploader) then doxed himself (with fake dox, kek) in the comments, prompting:

A very confused person said:
Wow, real big of you for posting your information while tucked away in Toronto. Explains a lot about you.

I'm kinda lost on this one, actually ... "tucked away in Toronto?" Isn't Toronto a big city and not some cozy "tucked away" place? And what does this explain about the uploader? Is this some kind of weak-sauce "lol Canada" insult? Is that as rough as they can get towards Canada on Youtube these days?

Joke's on "confused" anyway since the dox were fake.

Everyone getting offended in the comments seems to forget that it’s a fucking video game. They’re acting like they killed this kids entire family.

It's the same mentality that enables all the "words are violence" bullshit we see in modern liberal politics now. These are people who literally can't comprehend the idea of playing a game for the enjoyment of it without being so deeply invested in the outcome that they'll cry, lose sleep or hurt themselves if they lose. It's an online fucking game. You're going to lose sometimes. If the prospect of losing what you've spent hours "earning" causes you distress, play another game. If, on the other hand, you enjoy the grind and don't care so much about the gear at the end, you'll probably be fine.

The offendatrons in the comments are also forgetting what the uploader wrote in the description -- apparently this kid rolled up on him and his friend and attacked them. This wasn't an unprovoked "her derp let's fuk wit da innocent kid" thing (if the uploader is to be believed, anyway). This was a "big fish from a small pond sneaks up on a shark in the ocean and tries to start shit" thing.

Little squeaker had it coming.

People have fucked with kids in Minecraft before and everyone loved it. Would that even be acceptable in current year?

I bet the people complaining now are just the paypigs using SJW tactics because they're angry their retarded decision to play a game is getting them bullied to shit and back.

Because unlike those kids, most of these dumb cunts are full grown adults.

Not just play a game, but pay for the privilege and continue to pay for it even after all these hacks emerged.

I debunked a pyramid scheme a few years ago and you would not believe how angry that video made people who'd already joined the scam. Hundreds of angry comments, false reports, a DMCA complaint, the whole works. Not one of them could ever demonstrate having earned even a penny, much less turned a profit (or just broke even). They just get blindly angry because someone's pointed out they've just been fucked.

It's the same thing here. People absolutely hate admitting they were wrong or that they've been had. And they'd rather lash out at the person who exposes or mocks it than the people who actually ripped them off.

Ya know whats fucked? Even knowing ALL of the above when Fallout 76 pops up in a sale or something for twenty bucks I briefly consider it. SCARY

Bethesda games might've always been buggy but their games never felt like they were actively fighting against the engine until they made it multiplayer
Skyrim was pretty bad. Never before have I seen a developer break so many things patching the game.

At this point, Bethesda needs to retire that engine and start from scratch. Or stop making video games.

And people STILL playing Fallout 76, after all the shit that had happened even remotely related to the game, WHY?! They are masochists at this point. The game isn't just broken, it's unplayable. It's a product that doesn't function properly AND charges you money to fix it.

Any other industry, that'd be a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I remember once seeing a documentary called Atari: Game Over which was about the search for a bunch of E.T. games that were dumped in some New Mexico landfill decades ago. The most surreal part of it was seeing Howard Scott Warshaw having to relive the greatest failure of his life and how it broke him.

To answer your question, it's always going to be worth it to Bethesda. They got their money from the suckers who bought the game and they more or less conned their customers into developing and fixing their game for them, albeit begrudgingly. But 20 years from now, Todd Howard could watch a backhoe dig up a thousand copies of Fallout 76 from the bottom of a garbage dump without batting an eye. His regret will not have been destroying the reputation of a once beloved gaming studio through his blatant disrespect for his customers, but not making enough money through microtransactions in the process.

Yeah, I remember when they updated the PS3 version they broke it in such a way that the game would crash whenever you entered water and the only solution to that bug was to do a fresh install. And don't get me started on the fact that FO:NV is eventually unplayable on the PS3 because it just gets slower and slower with every change you make to the world and by the time you level high enough to do Old World Blues you have minute loading screens every time it has to load new terrain. Which is partially due to the PS3 being a really weird system to develop for (6 core with no dedicated GPU) but mostly Bethesda incompetence.

What the actual fuck???? What kind of slanty eyed sorcery is that?
