Fallout series

Mika world needed a more fleshed out story and raider setup to be really more memorable. Other than that I have mixed feelings because it’s good for combat.
Nuka World's only saving graces were the handmade rifles and some decent sidequests.

Past that, I never completed a quest for any of the raider gangs because none of them were likable or memorable in any good ways. Edgelords obsessed with knives and shitty armor, quirky tumblr bloggers obsessed with money, or just flat out furries. The fact I can remember some obscure side character in New Vegas in vivid detail but not a main character or faction from a DLC in a much more recent Fallout game says a lot about Bethesda. Nuka World was especially bitterly disappointing after finishing Far Harbor.

Like why couldn’t they all had Gage’s type of style and have some that were just killers, looters, and scavengers? I don’t even mean the edgy stuff just raiders with real specific jobs to do.

It really felt like Bethesda split the team in half and all the shitty people who made the main game got shunted to Nuka World, while everyone else with some talent got to work on Far Harbor.

Nuka world would’ve been fun if it also crossed into the other dlcs too. I mean like people mentioning it and referencing raiders took over.

Nuka World's raiders had potential, but typical Bethesda could not be arsed to put effort into it.
You have the edgy killers, the brawns of the group.
The money-focused weasels, the brainiest of the bunch yet also the most likely to betray you once the operation generates moolah since they find little interest in raiding for fun.
And finally you have the brain-addled raiders with furry tendencies who value strength above all. They kinda make the least sense.
There is something that can be made here if they had a writer that was worth a damn. It wouldn't be mind-blowing but you could've come up with a "Beyond Thunderdome" level of product if anyone in Beth was inspired.

But no, instead it feels like this DLC was only made thematically to appease the internet autists who wanted to larp as Raiders.
But it doesn't feel like you're a raider or that raiders become a valid faction to ally with. It feels like a disconnected post-credits bonus mission that may as well have starred a new character for all the relevance it has with anything else.

Sure, Far Harbor doesn't exactly shake up the Commonwealth either, but at least it's tied to a supporting character and mingles more on the synths and their role in the wasteland.

They could’ve tied Preston as a reformed raider which will support why they have all those fucking useless settlement missions.

While I always want to like Nuka-world, since the theme park asthetic is a great idea, it always comes off as disappointing. While I legitimately like Gage more than all but one of the base game companions, it doesn't matter, since no one but the edgiest autists are going to side with the raiders, so, it's the fireing line for him as soon as you get his perk and the Aeternus.

Without the handmade, I wouldn't even bother installing it.

But then we'd lose his sad-boy 'I was going to kill myself because I'm such a fucking failure' bullshit. And that'd be such a loss.

What is it with Bethesda wanting black characters to kill themeselves? Is it a call for help or a “sensitive” side for male characters?

I think it was JustSomeFaggot who pointed out that media is fucking desperate to make black men into purse puppies.

If I had to guess, it's a hilariously late response to the 90's and 00's depictions of blacks as 'badass thug real niggaz', which, predictably, blew up in their faces, where everyone assumes niggers are niggers. So, now, we have to depict every single black man into the most unthreatening, sensitive teddy bear imaginable.

Reminds me of the 80's, where they were trying to push black folks as harmless, totally lovable father figures (Mostly around Bill Cosby and Pre-Slap Will Smith.). So, it looks like we're in a 40 year time loop. Edit to correct my fucking retarded math.

It makes sense for Preston to be depressed. He idolized the Minutemen only to see his beliefs be shattered at Quincy. Not only was the town attacked by Gunners led by a former Minuteman, but none of the other Minutemen came to help Preston and his group. He went from protecting 20 survivors of the Quincy Massacre to 5 in a month. Preston probably would have killed himself if he didn’t have anyone to protect.

Oh, it makes total sense. But it's still not implemented well. Like, you don't hear anything about it until your max affinity conversation with him. So, it's not a damaged man coping with the mistakes and problems he's lived through, it's just thrown in to try to give him depth at the last second.

Funny you mentioned that; just finished Open Season using the "Minuteman Takeover" mod in conjunction with "Replace Minutemen with Enclave". Only a couple of minutes for a mob of X-01's to conquer it. I never even got a shot in on the three leaders. Didn't even bother with any gang turf allocation, I straight up got Open Season, called em in, did some settlement shit for a couple of days, then Liberated The Shit out of them.

I really hope we see more stuff done with tribals in the future. I know some people find them silly but I love it as a post apocalyptic trope.
Silly nothing, they honestly make sense. People get weird when they're trying to fill certain cultural voids that something like an apocalypse would bring.

The only time I felt tribals were silly was when Arrayo tried to tell me that after traveling further than anyone in California ever had or ever would, the Lone Wanderer founded a town that fell to bone in nose savagry inside of a generation.

I love tribals, but that, like everything else in FO2, was retarded.

I always found it strange that former Vault residents never bothered to bring along 10mm pistols for protection.

Or maybe I'm just salty that the beginning of FO2 forced Unarmed and Melee Weapons on you regardless of Tag Skills...

Yeah they really should have made the gap between FO and FO2 bigger to excuse the Wanderer's tribe falling into total savagery.

I think two or three generations would do it. Though I suppose some savageness makes sense when you live in an unpopulated desolate area.

It's just good fun, and has been as far back as Road Warrior and Thunderdome. But nowdays most fallout fans seem to think it's not grimdark enough.

Guess Low-int FO1 protagonist is canon. He lead by example, and his example was retarded.

Even then, would a settlement formed by an educated vault dweller be Luddites? I guess isolated communities can get more and more retarded over time, but still.

It's also stupid that the Arroyo tribals live in their shitty huts and tents instead of the fully intact temple complex that would be loads better to survive and live in once you get rid of the traps.

Also who started the stupid chosen one myth that prevents most of the tribe from getting off their asses and actually helping?
