Fallout series

I discussed with a friend of mine where I say (and I quote)

"The Vault Dweller doesnt defeat the master by giving a hopeful speech about human nature and the good of mankind and yada yada yada. The fact of the matter is that the master is right, as long humanity has any sort of differences, we will just make up reasons to kill each other. The setting itself is evidence of that. What you can do is prove to him that there is truly no hope and his plan to save the wasteland isnt going to work. You dont win by convincing him wrong, you win by proving that things are that bleak and he already failed. You break this...creature...with your own words of hopelessness. The Master doesnt refuse to listen to your arguments if you give him proof, showing he is reasonable enough to accept ideological defeat. Its such a perfect final boss battle to end this already bleak game. This, coupled with the ending right after it, just reminds me why F1 is still a masterpiece to this day"
War never changes.

Now I have the image of some big tittied tik tokker running through the sandy shores with her knockers bouncing up and down and the quote "War...war never changes" along with the dramatic music.
Sounds like the start of a documentary.

Am I the only one who finds sneak completely broken in NV, and not in a good way? I never figured out how to remain undetected in all these years. In my current playthrough I have sneak ~80 and I make sure to walk when sneaking and enemies still just "sense" me from 200 yards away. Does anyone know how to reliably remain undetected?

100 sneak and silent running.

Also, silenced weapons so you don't have to get close.

The Sniper Rifle is a good choice, and if you have OWB you can snag Christine's COS Silencer Rifle. Integral suppressor, light weight, best damage-per-shot of all .308 weapons, and fairly durable.

You know, I know this is entering some fanfiction-y territory but after replaying Dead Money, I began to imagine.

How would each faction deal with the cloud if it ever truly came to the Mojave?

The Dust has some elements of that with the NCR ending so I wont touch it much.

We also have Ceasar's Legion, Yes Man and Mr House (this is the one that intrigues me the most).

How would they react and how would they try to stop it ? (if they would manage to or not is up to you).

Mr. House & Yes Man have robots as a army. I'm sure there can't be a problem. I don't remember if the cloud can destroy robots IMO.
Caesar Legion probably gonna reach the same fate as the NCR.
Every living species gonna be dead or mentally enslaved as the Ghost People. Mr. House probably gonna create a plan to how control those type of people. Yes Man probably can give you the option.

Am I the only one that thinks The Master was the best Fallout villain from the whole series?
You're not alone.

I do find it pretty amusing how there's just no getting through Frank Horrigan at all. If you try, he just instantly shuts you down and preps to take down a few more muties. I do wish got more voiced lines, though, I love how his voice sounds.
I feel like it was smart to not have Horrigan willing to talk to you, it made him a strong contrast to the Master. Frank's there because at the end of the day he just really, really loves killing muties and doing his job. You can already talk down the president and also Rock's squad so they've not made speech useless. It shows that the Master was a horrifying amalgamation of flesh and tech but in a twisted way more human than Horrigan has ever been.

Also I just find Michael Dorn's lines as Horrigan great so I'm biased.

You're aware that the weight of your weapons and armor directly affect your sneaking? The heavier your equipment, the higher your "detection" range. Some enemies also have absurdly high perception, making it near impossible to sneak around them. (like the Blind Deathclaw variant)

Before someone gives that the "wait, what?" treatment, the answer is that setting a SPECIAL stat, in this case Perception, to 0 causes it to overflow to 10. The same bug applies to the Ghost People in Dead Money, which is why sneaking past them is so hard despite Elijah and Dean saying it's the only way to survive out there.

I was. Silent Running made a huge difference. At least for most enemies, which brings me to...

Huh. I was just about to make a post complaining about how my maxed-out stealth character can't sneak past them. Surprised YUP hasn't fixed this, tbh. They've made more intrusive changes than this trying to second-guess the devs' intentions.

Speaking of Dead Money, I never understood the timing of the events leading up to the Great War. Dean says in conversation that he introduced Keyes to Sinclair, and he built the whole place for her. Fine so far, but Sinclair's note to Vera at the end says "When Dean revealed his plans inadvertently through our introduction, I realized what had happened, and how I had been tricked." So did Sinclair know right from the start that Keyes and Domino planned to betray him, and built the entire place just to trap them? Because that seems rather petty. Especially since he bankrupted himself in the process.

Even the Wiki page on Sinclair directly contradicts itself in two consecutive paragraphs (emphasis mine):
Fallout Wiki said:
Sinclair was a wealthy businessman with a boastful and egotistical disposition who suffered many crippling financial losses in the 2070s. Nonetheless, he managed to hold on to the remainder of his fortune and expand it. He then remained obsessed with security for years to come.[1] Sinclair was friends with Dean Domino, who introduced Vera Keyes to him. From that moment, he fell in love with the starlet.[2][3]

The Sierra Madre Casino & Resort was to be his ultimate gift to her, a shelter from the inevitable nuclear war with China that he predicted was to come, its vault serving as a bunker. But events did not pan out the way he had hoped. Dean Domino introduced Sinclair to Vera Keyes, with whom Domino once had a torrid affair if the tabloid press was to be believed. Sinclair was suspicious, and rightly so.

Just a nitpick, but it just always bugged me.
