Fallout series

Really I think your enjoyment comes down, like with a lot of games these days, to how much you paid attention to the pre release hype. I'm damn sure it broke a ton of promises along the way, was hyped to hell and back, and those who bought in feel like they were left with a pile of crap, but for those of us who just sorta went "Oh right, Fallout 4 happened" becuase we were watching other games (Firaxis please do not fuck up X-Com 2, I loved X-Com 1 to hell and back), it's quite pleasant with the expectations you have of other Bethesda games.

Is it me or is the AI actually worse than it was in FO3 and NV?
If you ask me, yes.

It's weird, but it seems like every time I attack or encounter an enemy there's this awkward pause. I don't why that happens, but it really bugs me. It even happens in the Big Leagues Perk video, and if you look closely at that video you can see that they spliced the footage so that the pause seems shorter.

Y'all giving up and requesting refunds are whack. Have you ever played a Bethesda game before? They start up real slow and then pick the fuck up when you get about 10 hours into it. I'm having a blast. Didn't sleep last night and I've been playing it at work all day long. I'm the alt+tab wizard!

I gave my dude a haircut and now he's Lemmy. Game rocks.

I noticed that the very first time I saw that video. At the end, the player smacks the head off some raider and the other ones in the video take a good 2 seconds to react.

And it even fades in if you look closely at the bat, so it's clearly edited footage.

Something is rotten in the state of Bethesda.

I cannot believe the dialogue system is worse than Mass Effect , holy hell.

The character creator is pretty cool, thought.
People like to rip on the Mass Effect dialogue system, but i feel there was very little wrong with aside from how select options were worded. It was a provided a clear way for players to build their Paragon or Renegade Shepard and they had a lot of room for extra dialogue options with the investigate button on the middle left and the sometimes charm/intimidate option on the top and bottom left. So I guess what I'm trying to say is while it did limit players and is more casual than choosing absolutely clear dialogue options, it still allowed for the player to choose a lot to say and the only real issues with it were how certain dialogue options were worded.

Oh yes, I agree that is way better than people give credit for. Thats why it blows my mind that Bethesda did an awful dumbed down copy of that system when it has a decade since introduced.

I'll have to echo this.
Sometimes, in Mass Effect and even in Dragon Age 2, the dialogue system wasn't very clear on what you would say or what action would ensue. It isn't that it's totally terrible; it's that the vagueness gave you little idea at times of what exactly would happen. What sounded reasonable or innocent when choosing that option sometimes had the nasty surprise of being the opposite of what you were trying to achieve because of the way it was worded. (Inquisition tried to remedy this somewhat, at least.)

There's also the whole factor, for both Dragon Age and Fallout, of it being very different from past games where dialogue went unvoiced but it was also very specific in what you were saying. (And if someone could tell me if low intelligence does anything anymore in FO4, that'd be fantastic.)

I'm having a blast with Fallout 4, it's actually quite awesome so far, but I've got to say... this dialog system is easily the worst thing that's ever happened to the series, at least in my opinion. I've never played Mass Effect, so I don't know how it compares to those games, but this just sucks so much of the fun out of it for me. The other two fallout games were fine because while there wasn't always an option that had what you wanted to say, you at least knew which one would be closest, and if you didn't want to say any of them, you could probably back out. This time, it's a crapshoot where you have to just pray that the option you choose is the one that's going to say what you want.

For example, I'm on my way to Diamond City, and I get a distress call on my radio from a bunch of Brotherhood of Steel guys who are holed up nearby and need some help. So I go over and help them out with some ghouls who were attacking their little base, and after they're done the Paladin guy asks me what my business is there. I have several choices, but the one I'm looking for is the one where I'm saying "I came because I heard your obnoxious little distress signal". The closest one I saw to that was an option labelled "My Business", which seemed vague, but I thought for some reason that I would actually be telling him why I'm there. Instead I say something standoffish like "That's my business, not yours", and then he gets all huffy with me about it.

Turns out the only other option I had was that I'm "just trying to survive", which is absolutely untrue, both in the short term and long term. I'm not just aimlessly scavenging, I'm trying to find my kid, this is supposed to be the big motivation for my character. And don't get me started on that landmine of a "Sarcastic" option, I never touch it. You have no idea if you're going to be saying something that's just a bit of harmless dry humor, or you're going to say something that cuts right to the bone of the person you're talking to.

To those people requesting refunds...

Y'all niggas know that you're going to be buying and downloading it again once the modding community starts to pick up speed, right? :P
