Fallout series

Just came across this article from bethesda. Apparently fallout 76 is getting a map expansion to the south, into the shenandoah valley

Probably a desperate attempt to cash in on that shit tier tv show coming out in april. Seeing how bad every previous update has been so far I can't see this one being any different. They should concentrate on using the parts of the existing world they haven't done anything with, like the entire north western part of the map across the river, instead of expanding the size of the world itself

But it wouldn't be fallout 76 if they didn't make shit design decisions
Looking at the concept art image they posted, two things immediately stand out to me. The giant rock wedged in between two mountains looks suspiciously like Natural Bridge in Virginia, and the river running through the town on the left, reminds me a lot of Buchanan, VA. Makes sense, since Shenandoah National Park (broken sign in the lower right corner) is near both.

I would not be surprised in the slighest if they pull some "Second Institute" bullshit with the Virginia Tech campus...

I rewatched the Fallout trailer and by God, it hasnt gotten any better.

I did watch a video that explained this series probably isnt for the fans, but the normies who dont know/care about the first thing about Fallout. They most likely dont even know its based on a video game unless its constantly told to them. Now, you could say the paradoxical thing is why make a Fallout series if you wont appeal to the fans at all but we are dealing with corporate execs, their priority is the highest amount of short term profit as possible, even if its suicidal in the long term (they will probably have moved to other company by then and it wont be their problem anymore).

And you know, fine, you can just mentally shut yourself out from this and just call it for the fanfiction that it is but here is the problem...this is suppose to be canon, the "Fallout 5". This decision makes sure you CANT mentally separate the source material from this as we are to assume this will be referenced in any further entries. With that said, you would assume they would be more careful with how the lore is handled but this is Bethesda AND Amazon we are talking about.

Why set this in California? Feels like it causes more problems than it solves them. Just set it in NY or some other location, because otherwise you are dealing with baggage of the source material. It just blows my mind how many bad decisions you can see and the show hasnt even come out yet. I wont even rant about the NCR, BOS being back or Ghoul led looking handsome because it all speaks for itself and it does confirm this series isnt for people that grew up on this brand but for normies who dont care and just want something to shut their brains off to for a while (and possibly even hate video games).

A lot of people have speculated that this is Bethesda's attempt at officially writing New Vegas out and declaring it non canon.

The shots of the Enclave fighting the BOS at Hoover Dam instead of the Legion and NCR seems to support this.

Fallout fans are going to get the "stop giving a shit about new stuff/canon" talk I've been preaching to Star Wars fags for the better part of a decade now, huh?

Is Bethesda REALLY that ass mad about FNV? I know there's the whole thing about them not giving obsidian a bonus the game got a 84 instead of a 85 thing*, but is there any real evidence of Bethesda hating FNV outside just speculation?

*People from obsidian have came out in recent years and talked about how the bonus wasn't something they were mad about, no one had hard feelings over it.

Apparently Bethesda doesn't like merchandising New Vegas stuff.

And I guess Chris Avalone asked if he could make a New Vegas sequel or an Elder Scrolls sequel spinoff and they said no.

That's all I've ever heard as far as evidence they're assmad about New Vegas

To play devils advocate, I can see the merchandising stuff being a case of Bethesda not wanting to touch Obsidian's game. (ignore the NCR Ranger armor in Fallout 76.) And Fallout New Vegas is technically a Spin Off of the series.

Oh, I agree. I think that Bethesda just doesn't give a shit more than being actively angry about New Vegas.

New Vegas fanatics are kind of delusional about its place in the Fallout fandom tbqh

I like New Vegas, I think its the best Fallout game, but holy shit is it overrated. People act like its the second coming of Christ when its not, its just a pretty good RPG with a ton of flaws and issues. And that's before we touch on the fanbase proper.

The Hoover Dam was in the trailer? I don't recall seeing it.
There was an extended version of the trailer shown at some award show with the BOS and what looked like Enclave fighting at Hoover Dam. Nothing is confirmed but it's so retarded it's easy to believe that Bethesda would do it.

Even putting aside the dumb Hoover Dam retcon, if Bethesda actually had the Enclave on the west coast again after their shit was nuked, they were hunted down by the NCR and they were driven east as explained in Bethesda's own games, that would be retarded beyond belief.
