Fallout series

Imagine being unironically MATI over a show you never cared about, by a company you don't care about, that everyone knew was going to be dogshit from the jump instead of just playing the games and mods you actually like. Very reddit tier behavior.
For real. I don't know if I'm just getting old or what, but like...I feel the rage at this should have been out of everyones system by now. This isn't some big surprise like The Last Jedi was. It isn't like Bethesda just acquired the IP, or that Fallout 3, 4 and 76 haven't been released in the past 15 years or so.

It was pointed out in the multimedia thread and I commented on how funny it was, but the people that hated this show the most and despised its very existence were the ones who stayed up all night watching it the second it released. They didn't even wait to pirate it.

It really is reddit like behavior. The actions are the same. The obsessiveness is the same. The only difference are the words.

I'm going to politely disagree. I had no expectations for this show -- if anything I expected it to be shit -- but at the end of the day it was fun, definitely grokked the Fallout vibe, and featured a stellar performance by Walton Goggins. The lead chick ain't half bad either. The Brotherhood guy is the least of the three mains, but I'm not sure if it's because of the actor or because the character is so fucking stupid I'd believe you if you told me he was supposed to be a INT<4 character.

Also, I think there is a ton of misreading when it comes to New Vegas. Robert House shows up as a character and is implied to be in opposition to Vault Tec. The final shot of New Vegas is clearly intended to gin up excitement for season 2. There's even a couple of shoutouts to Dead Money, of all things -- Vera Keyes's name shows up on a movie poster and Frederick Sinclair appears in the same meeting with House. They may or may not be decanonizing the events of the game, but they're clearly going to try capitalizing on certain elements of it.

It's got a better story than Fallout 4, at least.

Aren't you the guy that regularly has spastic episodes because people like Outer Worlds and New Vegas?
No?

IIRC, you're the autist that has spastic episodes about The Outer Worlds being the greatest thing ever, and then I just reply "lol no it isn't it sucks" and you lose your shit.

Just like you are about to start losing your shit at my meme because it forces you to look at yourself for the consuming whore that you are.

Also, it's hilarious seeing you of all people accuse anyone of spastic episodes. You've been up all night malding over a shitty amazon TV show FFS.

Aren't you the guy that regularly has spastic episodes because people like Outer Worlds and New Vegas? Like unironically seething ones?
You're not even a bethesda drone, you're like 3 rungs beneath them, more of a redditor if your "meme"(and your avatar) is of any indication. Keep baiting tho, I'm sure someone will bite eventually.

At any rate, I am having a blast. /tv/ and /fog/ threads are really popping off, now I await the NMA thread to finally finish watching this slop. I very much enjoyed their Frontier thread, same with the one on RPG Codex.

I heavily disagree. Plot of Fallout 4 is simple, perhaps too much so. It's basically a plot about finding your son(and not really caring about him because you do a billion sidequests inbetween), then doing the stupid song and dance with Kellog/Vergil and getting into the Institute(easily weakest part of the game). After that, all of act 2 is basically just a shittier version of New Vegas main plot where you choose your faction and try to win a war, seemingly the entire intrigue of finding your son lost.

This plot? The one in the TV show is extremely retarded, and I am going easy on it by judging it as if it were it's own thing, independent of the IP it's based off. It should go without saying that it misunderstands(or doesn't care about the setting) completely, but even then it doesn't do anything INTERESTING with it. Worse, the plot is stupid and makes zero sense, action scenes and those that try to "flesh out" the setting are awful and don't get me started on the humor. Since it ruins the lore and clearly doesn't care about it, little cameos here and there don't even matter, the only good thing about it would be the ghoul cowboy scenes.

If you want to watch a live-action Fallout TV show, it's been made already. It's called Nuka Break and it's free on Youtube. This shit is meant to appeal to only the lowliest of redditors and Fallout 76 players, as well as attract outsiders who never heard or cared about the franchise before. So, standard fare for live action game adaptations these days.
I can't tell which is worse right now, this or the Halo show, but I am laughing at both equally. With Fallout being more universally liked these days than Halo, this has the potential to be the new Buck Breaking until the next helping of slop is served along.

Ok, well, you can mald, but I had a nice time.

Okay i understand how new vegas is now noncanon, but what's changed from 1 and 2?
Shady sands still existed and the enclave DID do all the shit on the oil rig in 2 and that's been established since 3 so what exactly changed?

Shady Sands was nuked by Vault Tec to cover up...something 200 years later, 4 years before New Vegas making that game non-canon now. It should be assumed that up until this point everything has happened normally between Fallout 2 and 3, but you never know.
It is not stated clearly, but Brotherhood might have won in the Commonwealth during Fallout 4. Except they are not really the Brotherhood and are more like some sort of actual fanatical cult with brandings and clergy and everything now, so you can hardly call them that anymore. If you took away their power armor, it would be an entirely different faction all together.
The plot seems all over the place and it's probably Todd's way to wipe out West Coast from canon so he can make the entire wasteland ruined, irradiated and full of skeletons just like the East Coast. People are still getting around all the retcons, there are so many.
Anon on 8/v/ seems to have written a good summary(or as good as one can write), seems about right from what I've seen

I only came to light of this from seeing /v/ this morning and a few people in some steam group chats bring it up. The reality is; the moment Bethesda outbid the creators and former devs at Interplay the rights to the Fallout IP is the moment that the franchise died.
And yes, this show is canon in the Toddoverse. Straight from the horse's mouth:
https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2023/11/fallout-first-look
We view what’s happening in the show as canon,” says Howard. “That’s what’s great, when someone else looks at your work and then translates it in some fashion.” He admits to being envious of some of the TV show’s interpretations and additions: “I sort of looked at it like, ‘Ah, why didn’t we do that?’"
I'm not sure how much of last sentence is him being petty and vindictive either.

This is a Q/A that occurred in 2009 but specifically his comment at 51:32. It perfectly represents Todd Howard and his design philosophy. Primarily his inability to gander why people skipped the "brilliant" (lol) writing of Fallout 3.

So, uh, don't let the awful TV show(which is awful, and you have shitty taste if you like it) distract you from the fact that Bethesda finally decided to tease their new Fallout 4 Next Gen updates!

Yeah, it's a whole lot of nothing. Reminder, people waited 2 years for this, and all the content they are offering for "free" existed for years already on Nexus.

This frog girl keeps talking about sex and breeding. They might have written Fallout 1/2/New Vegas out of canon but they're going to write in Lover's Lab mods into it in their place. God help us.
Lucy(and the ghoul) might be pretty much the only thing this series is going to be known for in a couple of weeks, since they splurged out everything at once instead of releasing it episode by episode like a normal show. Well, that and memeing on Todd on how much New Vegas makes him seethe.

Greaaat. I JUST got my load order sorted too.

When it comes to Fallout 1/2, only changing the location of Shady Sands to L.A. and seemingly retconning the Boneyard which is retardedly annoying but nothing surprising for nu-fallout.
