Fallout series

So, an update with bug fixes, quest extensions and free Creation Club content is coming to Fo4 on the 25th. Said content includes homemade weapons like nailguns, and some Enclave stuff (X-02, new quest, Heavy Flamer and Tesla Canon.).

I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand, seems okay. On the other, I have heard that the new updates Bethesda was working on could prevent most modern mods from working a la Skyrim.
That's like that for every update for almost any game. When something updates, the exe and code are changed. If it's small and basic, it might work fine, maybe might need to update the mod to make sure it reads the new version number correctly. If a bunch of code that said mod relied on is change then the whole mod will need to be fixed. With Bethesda, most mods rely on script extenders, which needs to run on a specific game version and will need to be updated for it to work.
Better set your Fallout 4 appmanifest file to read only while you can
Make sure to do this @SillySherman.

Now that I think about it, Van Buren was going to have NCR be terrorized by Victor Presper and the endgame was him hijacking an old world nuclear orbital platform to send nukes down onto NCR.
They could have had Presper nuke Shady Sands but instead it's fucking Vault Tec, which shouldn't even exist anymore(even in Fallout Tactics the last remains of the company are brains in a jar, rest presumably died or turned ghoul 200 years ago). They didn't even make them villains for a good reason, way I understand it they used them because 1) Capitalism bad 2) China good so they can't be the bad guy 3) both
Even if they wanted to go with the nuclear option, there was a lore friendly way to go about it that many fans would actually welcome(or at least find intriguing). As it stands, this satisfies nobody. Imagine if they just made Van Buren into a TV show, and the finale was NCR actually getting nuked, which would lead into whatever was next(NCR victory in New Vegas but their capitol is gone, for example. What's next for them?). This would actually be worthy of making.

Then again, nobody involved with this project even knows what Van Buren is, so why am I even wasting my time talking about it. Hell, I doubt they even knew about the Divide nukes from Lonesome Road.

I really hope Novus Arizona goes well.

I may think that the NCR are full of cringe libtards but even the way they get smoked in the show is still annoying. They should've collapsed under a civil war that left petty republics in its wake or suffered an economic meltdown and became a rump state.

Getting nuked by some plot armor villain before New Vegas (lolwut?) doesn't feel right at all. They needed to collapse from something related to their hubris and inherent flaws.

Hell, I'm even okay with the Tunnelers headcanon as long they were written well. I could totally see the NCR having the potential to stop them as a threat but bureaucracy and plain ol' corruption totally hamstrings any attempt to contain them as a threat and they fall as a result while NCR Elites fuck off to their fortified bunkers soon after.

You wouldn't even need to canonize a particular NV ending, you could make an argument for NCR eventually falling apart from within, even if they're victorious in Hoover Dam. Hell have separatists in the NCR nuke the capital, would make more sense than a prewar corporation nuking a nation to protect just one of over a hundred vaults

The separatists' idea would have made far more sense than some Vault Tech Man getting access to launch codes. Hell, I might as well move from the 2277 dates to somewhere like 2291. I hope to God that they don't bring up Vault 13, Arroyo, or the Courier in some form.

Easiest way to keep all New Vegas endings canon but also continue the story is to simply erase the Hoover Dam. Have it so that the Hoover Dam was destroyed by terrorists decades after the great battle. Forcing most of New Vegas and the Mojave to be greatly scaled down or abandoned. It would mean that Mr. House had no source of power for Lucky 38 or the Strip. And that the NCR and Legion wouldn't bother devoting massive resources to the area anymore as it loses its strategic and logistic importance. Their empires fade and crumble in the ruins of the Dam.

You could also have Helios One suffer a similar fate. Meaning in the end it didn't matter who won the Hoover Dam. Because the next destructive faction was already on its way to obliterate any progress that humanity had made. And now humanity must find another area to establish civilization or at least attempt to. This was almost the ending of Lonesome Road had it been set after the Battle of the Hoover Dam. Where the player or Ulysses would nuke all of the Mojave and force everyone to scatter into the wasteland.

Wasn't this an actual element that was talked about in New Vegas? Like to the point of being a speech option during the final battle?

NCR was stretched too thin and taking Hoover Damn would ruin them, it was the same thing with Legion IIRC.

And even the fall of New Vegas itself isn't a stretch. House doesn't care about New Vegas and wants to go to space, and why the fuck would the Courier even if he is an ultra bad ass be in a position to keep New Vegas stable?

But it's Fallout so just nuke everything. They just literally go with the worst part of New Vegas (Lonesome Road and gay fuck Ulysses)

It's also just boring as fuck to have yet another pre-war group resurfacing two fucking centuries after the bombs fell to "rebuild the world in our image" when that has already been The Enclave's shtick for two fucking games, and at least The Enclave have a bitchin' aesthetic.

"All important decisions are held to a vote"

Yeah that shit is fucked bro. Trannies gonna stack the votes and you'll get nothing but gay legionnaire butt sex and brown people.

I don't really mind The NCR falling apart canonically, but "We nuked it... Again!" Is just laziness on their part to justify making everything keep the post-nuclear aesthetic that they are obsessed with. Avallone is also one of those people that thinks that the nations became too big and needed to fall. I am more butthurt that they keep reducing the world to BoS vs Enclave over and over and over. Every nation in America crumbled except for the Faggots of Steel, even though their entire shtick changes each time we see them.

If you're going to wipe actually interesting factions, locations, and characters off the face of the earth, then at least replace them with new, cool ones.

Ave, true to Caesar. Wish they were fleshed out more.

The legion and powder gangers were definitely unfinished factions in the game and it's part of the reason I hate the lie that NV is some "objective masterpiece". It's just a fine and interesting but also flawed and unfinished game. It's a shame that much of the modding effort goes to fixing the game to run on Windows 10/11 and have fancy call of duty gun inspect animations rather than finishing the game and fleshing out the mojave.

I figured, was just being polite so I don't have to go through the hassle of making a new account to go around another ban. Would be the third time within 6 months. On the 1% chance it's actually good, lore friendly, not filled with tranny shit I'll be shocked and will shill it here.

Agreed. It's easily one of the best Fallout games but I won't pretend it's the greatest RPG since Planescape Torment and BG3...and Age of Decadence, shit that game was good. It is flawed, the dlcs are flawed, it's still buggy (far less than launch), the gunplay gives me cancer sometimes, but it's acceptable, I could go on. The people who jerk it off usually ignore anything that isn't the roleplaying and narrative, aka the best parts. I do have to disagree with your last sentence, there's quite a number of QOL, immersive, lore friendly mods. And even then most of the mods that help flesh out the game have already been made. Now-a-days it's smaller stuff but 10-20 smaller things can amount to quite a bit.

Finished the show about a hour ago, up until the last episode I though it ranged from meh to fine, hated the power armor jet thrusters and shit but other wise thought it was ok.
The Last Episode is actual trash, holy fuck, they drop the "War Never Changes" line twice, both in situations where it has no impact. That entire fight with the Brotherhood and the NCR(?) was awful, They spent the entire season hyping up the Enclave just to only show them once in the entire show.
Hell the entire Shady Sands nuke stuff is basically the big end game of The Frontier. At the end of the NCR Exile storyline, Sac-Town is nuked and creates a massive crater just like in the Fallout TV Show. The Fallout TV Show ripped off the Frontier and somehow did it worse?

I may have missed someone else saying this, but according to Emil's Timeline he posted on twitter, Shady Sands was nuked in 2285 or so, after FNV but before FO4.

Jeez, if only they had that date on the chalkboard. Even then; Eh... Still feels wrong tbh.
Like okay, sure whatever the faggy NCR can die for all I care after the events of FNV. But I really did wish they went with Tunnelers or something more natural like the NCR collapsing from the weight of its own problems rather than inventing a mustache twirling original villain who just kills them off-screen.

And how did he even Nuke Shady Sands? The Crater implies to me that the nuke was either underground or on ground level, so did they use a tunnel or something to move it? And who moved it anyways? Is the Enclave seriously still active on the West Coast or is there a super secret Vault-Tec Paramilitary that was also in Cryo-Sleep.
Jeez, if only they had that date on the chalkboard.
I am almost 100% sure its a retcon of the retcon, I don't not think Bethesda has the Balls to Retcon FNV, but if they did I don't think they'd have the balls to keep it that way.

Legion supremacy.
i can't help it: their only issues are succession and unawareness of their true goal

The NCR is just too inefficient and already repeating the mistake of pre-war America. People who compare the Legion to the real life Rome miss the point by a mile: it's supposed to be a unifying identity for the worst of the worst backwater peoples that sprang from the rest of the wasteland shitholes. It's the only actual post-apocalyptic major faction in Fallout I can believe would form in event of a nuclear holocaust.

Being against them because of brutality or muh fascism more than anything else has to be the stupidest complaint I hear most. We get plenty enough real-time warcrimes going on to realize all the hocus pocus of fighting clean in a conflict is nonsense. The world was set back a few hundred years, and there are bandits everywhere. Did you expect everyone to abide by the ideas of freedoms and rights that are already being encroached when we have no such problems?

And I guess the cherry on top of it all is winning is the worst thing that can happen for the NCR because they learn nothing. Moore, who puts personal interests over the republic, gets promoted to general. Lee stays in power despite fucking up the NCR's position in the Mojave to begin with. Kimball likely runs for a few consecutive terms.
The Van Graffs, Crimson Caravan, and Gun Runners all getting up to shady corpo shit from what you see could be worth its own topic, and I've rambled enough as is.
Age of Decadence
I only wish the third act was a bit more fleshed out. For all the things you can do, the overworld feels like it has little reactivity, although it has more than most games these days.
i prefer colony ship but that has its own issues

New Vegas is built on an unfinished game engine, based on an unfinished build of a game (Van Buren), and itself was not even finished as Bethesda gave them zero time to complete basically any aspect of the game. Yet it's still probably the peak of the Fallout franchise. And one of the best RPGs and probably over video games of all time.

Imagine if they had been given an extra year or two to finish the Legion and Powder Ganger storylines and implement the DLC content properly. Plus survival mode and who knows how many side quests and other pieces of content. Probably the biggest "what if?" in the history of games or even modern entertainment.
