I genuinely want to know why Bethesda thinks Fallout is Borderlands.

Haha ass jerky! Flea soup! Fart gun!"

I recently replayed Fallout 3 and it actually has a pretty consistently serious tone. Even Old World Blues isn't as fucking goofy as the TV show.
Adam Adamowicz, that's the name which everything changed at Bethesda after FO3 and his death.
He kept the serious tone FO1 had.

Pic rel is all I need to know his opinion on anything is invalid. All fallout youtubers are bad and should be ignored, Bethesda friendly or not.

Is it even this bad in 4 or 76? I feel like the TV Show turned the shitty Marvel writing up to 11.

I haven't played 76 so I can't speak for it but no, Fallout 4's plot and dialogue were extremely boring and nonsensical but as far as I remember there was no Borderlands esque whacky gross out ass jerky! Fart Gun! Incestuous scat sex with my brother! Humor in it.

The show is just mean spirited, I'm not going to defend Bethesda writing but like there's no "charm" to the TV show writing.

I'm more willing to defend the story of 3, and 4 like 2 was not terrible if you played to it's story's strengths (roadtrip movie vs. father/mother desperately trying to find their son) even if 4 dropped the ball really hard after the end of act 2 (teleporter sequence) but I digress.

Overall, what I mean to say is there is neither that signature endearing retarded Bethesda charm or the actual good storytelling of Interplay/Obsidian.

Whoever is running their merch department needs a raise because a lot of the stuff they have been putting out very recently is very unique and honestly tempting. That said, I am cheap bastard and hate the idea of giving Microsoft money. Now if they put out a collection of the perk magazines for display from Fallout 4... well that might be a different story. Some of that art is really nice.
This isn't from whoever's running Bethesda's merch department, it's from The Wand Company. The Tested guys had the Wand Company guy and his faggot slave on last year when they did the TV show Pip-Boy replica. Bethesda's merch department is responsible for shitting out garbage like the New Vegas anniversary set or the Mini Nuke popcorn bucket.

I do think I might pick up the Pip-Boy. I had their Sonic Screwdriver remote as a kid and bought their Love Ball for my girlfriend's Christmas gift this year (I haven't opened it, but it seems pretty heavy and afaik it's made of metal).

Fallout 4 had the Mass Effect dialogue wheel with the sarcastic option.
Yeah but most of those were in-universe quips, anf felt like they were something someone might actually say in response to the circumstances. Borderlands quips are fundementally for the audience first and foremost.

Well, then whoever had the idea to hire The Wand Company, because it was clearly the correct choice. Also the NV Anniversary set would have been fine it it was just a collection of some interesting things that would have been part of a collector's edition, I love feelies and wish they made a comeback. If it was sold sans the game, and thus cheaper, or split up, would be far less mockworthy. I would in fact buy a Mojave Express patch.

I've played Fallout 4 for quite a long time and not a single moment in it did I get the weird Marvel vibes the show gives me. Bethesda's writing is clumsy but at least tries to be serious when it wants to be. Alot of their game's silliness comes from an NPC glitching out, an enemy spawn being nearby, or some random encounters not making much sense. Even something intentionally silly like Nuka World I can kinda see working in a dark ironic way, if Bethesda had deeper writing chops.

The TV show's humor is so terrible by comparison. The first real quest of the game has you save Preston Garvey at the museum from an army of raiders and while the situation is fairly convenient, the characters at least act as if a deadly situation is occuring. If this was the TV show, the Sole Survivor would be like:

"Hey, you raiders! Stop attacking Preston Garvey, alright? Attacking is rude and bad and we should all work together since this is the apocalypse, right?"
-Raiders stare blankly then draw their guns-
"Oh shit!!"

Honestly, I don't mind Lucy acting like a retard because while I don't think there are any comparable moments that we see, it fits how surface dwellers see vault dwellers. It specifically calls to mind how Piper immediately clocks you as a vault dweller if you take off the jumpsuit because you look retarded and ignorant, so I'd assume a good chunk of former vault dwellers act like retards. That being said, Maximus has absolutely no reason to act like a bumbling tard. When I first saw the show I legitimately thought he was supposed to be autistic or some shit.

Actually, quick addendum. I think the closest to Lucy a character has been is the Vault 21 bitch, down to the casual sex, fondness of Vault Tec, and general awkwardness.
