listen, it's FARGOTH IN 8K, 8 fucking K.
as a bonus there will also be caius in all of his shirtless glory with the eventual oiled mod because you just know.
If you’re not meming about wanting a MW remaster then I’d seriously urge you to just go download one of those ‘modernised’ modpacks for OpenMW, like Path of the Incarnate. They run fine on modern PCs (courtesy of OpenMW, not the modpacks themselves) and will feel more authentic than whatever outsourced UE5 jeetslop Bethesda would try to sell you

I thought the general consensus is that 4 is a decent enough game, but a terrible RPG.
The big selling point of Fallout is that the writing is great. Otherwise it's just a mediocre FPS stumbling over its RPG shoe laces.

BoS might be a worse game overall, but it's also one of the least relevant, to the point it's not even considered canon by Bethesda. Fallout 4 is a mainstream numbered title, not some licensed side project. The only Fallout game that competes with 4 for terrible writing is 3 (is it ethical to nuke a town for no reason?), and Fallout 76 has no plot so whatever.
The game was popular and introduced a lot of younger players to fallout, I think that's nice.
I could say the same thing about the TV show, yet everyone here seems to hate it in spite of that fact.

People forget this but the synths have been a thing since 3. In fallout 3 there's a quest to help a runaway synth escape the institute (or turn him in) Does that make it better? Worse? Idunno. I just think people should know that.

Even more truth now since OpenMW hit the 0.50 milestone, the engine has never been so powerful, scripting wise

As for visuals, OpenMW always beat MGE XE, with ease

yeah and i thought it was stupid back then, but i hoped it was one of the other retarded things that fallout 3 did and then forgot about
like vampire larpers

>4 has by far the most "well thts fucking retarded"
>names some of the cooler things in the game

Ok I'll give you the kid in the fridge but most of the other stuff was handled pretty well.
Name me the Institute's goal and motive for replacing normies with synths.

Securing direct access to wasteland resources for experimentation, whilst also mitigating potential resistance against their work. I sided with those fuckers when I played through on release because they’re the only faction that is meaningfully capable of making any progress in the wasteland, their ending puts you directly in charge as your son’s successor and you can still tell the Minutemen to stop fucking around and listen to you without conflict.

Unfortunately for every sensible decision a Bethesda faction makes, they have to do something nonsensically retarded so most players don’t end up seeing the appeal of the Institute. Most notable with your own son doing absolutely nothing to intervene on your behalf before you meet him other than waking you up and letting you kill Kellogg, yet at the same time he actively wants you to succeed him and encourages you to take the Institute in any direction that you want if you do so.

You're already allowing your own internal logic to make that the objective.
The Institute does not give any reason whatsoever. You can intuit on some level they replace select individuals for purpose of reconnaissance/spying, which does make sense. It also makes a degree of sense to put synths in positions of leadership if you want to avoid people putting eyes on you. Though Mayor McDougal not doing more to get rid of Piper, who spends most of her paper putting the spotlight on the institute + making it obvious you're replacing people by continuing to do so with a spy/leader already in place for some reason are both dumb.

What doesn't make sense is why they're making hyper-advanced, self-aware synths just to sweep their fucking floors, and then making even more advanced ones just to track down the ones who get escape... only to put them back in the role of sweeping floors sans memories, instead of just making replacements which they're shown to be well-capable of doing since they make them by the bucket load. We're not told if creating more advanced synths is more resource intensive or not so we can assume all that's different is software-related and casing (skin - basic models have eyes and teeth to, so it's mostly just skin that differs) but even still, they make shit tons of dummy synths as soldiers so why those same synths can't be used for basic labour is a fucking mystery.

I said it a while back, but forcing this dumb slavery analogy is basically the major thing that makes Fallout 4's story so retarded. Without it the Institute being this isolationist group who then get encouraged to take over the Wasteland due to the protagonist's meddling would be an improvement over what we got. I think the initial motive for kidnapping Shaun was retarded (as I typed before: him being "pure" means fuck all in how he acts or decides shit) but the protag getting into the Institute and that being what breaks their isolation and prompt their more overt conquest of the Commonwealth is good enough by itself.

Remember the Institute quest where they have you kill and replace a farmer so they can plant their genetically modified Gourds or whatever the fuck to see how the seeds do, and once they get the data they wipe out the farmstead and move on? These people are more retarded than the minutemen.

They could purify every source of drinking water in the area. Their robots could sweep through Boston culling every mutated freak I'm the commonwealth with an efficiency that'd make the Brotherhood coom if it wasn't being done by fucking synths. They could he curing diseases and bringing back extinct species of livestock to give people clean meats.

But no. They're wiping out entire families to grow a handful of gourds, making gorillas(how they handles nests isnt addressed), and playing God so they can make someone scrub the toilet for them.

Nuke these fucking smooth brained cunts.

The only way the Institute makes sense is if they're pajeets. Or if they're written by pajeets.

I like the idea that you can control a squad of synths to clear out shitpits of mutants, but you control them through a viewport that's designed like the original isometric Fallout games.

Considering the aethestics of the series, the thing that pissed me off with the Bethesda games wasn't just the guns, but also the vehicles. The fucking Boston museum has proof that America in the Fallout universe had access to Patton tanks at some point, and futuristic aircraft to fight in space. But most of the vehicle designs look like shitty overengineered 1950s prototypes (Looking at you, double barreled heavy tank). Never mind other games showing stuff from the 1980s like humvees and 1960s stuff like Hueys (At least those being replaced by vertibirds made sense).

A good aesthetic choice would have been M60 type tanks, and futuristic M113 inspired IFVs. Throw in some early M1 Abrams and Bradley-expy for the Enclave. As for cars, they should have stuck to Fallout 1's style and used muscle cars and other stuff from the 70s. Backpedaling from the 1980s to the 1930s-1950s was one of the worst decisions Bethesda made. Quests referencing those periods would have been fine, if the whole game atmosphere wasn't inspired by those decades.

the fact that it went over your head how morrowind combat would filter "bethesda fans" even on a remake is astounding :sighduck:

their safest bet is FO3 but even then it's still finicky as it's not action-y like FO4, i member people complaining about the entire shooting-rpg of both FO3 and NV when replaying them.

the problem with the institute is them not elaborating why replacing shit with synths, it's just kept as a story blackhole.

An ‘intelligent’ faction can only be as smart as the writers, and this is mid-2010s Bethesda. They had to make the faction that’s more advanced than the Enclave act so utterly retarded and pointlessly antagonistic that they wouldn’t be the immediate obvious choice for every player.

The Institute also suffers from having to be written as the vehicle for including most of the unnecessary nostalgiabait like Super Mutants and the BoS. Bethesda wrote a Star Trek-esque faction that could introduce nearly anything they wanted to include in FO4, then had to poorly explain why said faction chooses not to trivially solve any of the problems they caused.

> Be me, Fallout Amazon show
> Be a supposedly gritty show about a post apocalypse about the struggles of humanity and how war never changes
> Unironically have female sassy millennial coded main character in the year of our lord 2025
> Said female character proceeds to womansplain in front of male dominated Legionaires how they are apparently saying their leader's name wrong (spoilers, they actually arent) and how she isnt a virgin, thus not matching their "requirements"
> Said female character doesnt proceed to get either decapitated, gang raped, fed to hungry mongrels, properly cruxified, having her tongue cut off and thrown among the other slaves, just plain out shot or a combination of all of the above....somehow
> You're racist/antisemitic/not a real fan if you dont like this.

If FO4 decided to move the series culturally to the 70-80's from Fallout 3's 50's-60's, it could've worked wonders.

Had this been a non apocalyptic setting or a proper post-post apocalypse setting like Bethesda seems to hate, I could see the "times" moving up to make things more interest when the 50-60's stuff felt explored to its fullest.

the problem with the institute is them not elaborating why replacing shit with synths, it's just kept as a story blackhole.

Remember this meme?

Thats your explanation. There aint one and they just want to replace everyone just so they can have a slave/infiltrator population for surrounding areas or some self sabotaging nonsense like that

Thats it. Emil and Todd never thought that far and they simply didnt think their fans would either.
