The legion are bad people
The Legion is in the same camp as The Enclave for me, where they are objectively awful people who do awful things, but you can justify these bad things in the context of the wasteland and the world post Great-War.

I know It's not nice to gun down mountains of Wastelanders, but the President told me to so dammit, I'm going to.

Current copium on plebbit is that the Bos(s) Nigger is gonna keep the NCR Ranger Power Armor and rebuild the NCR, lol

People are coping so hard. It was like watching die hard Assad supporters coping that in the next few days SECRET PARATROOPERS will descend down into Damascus any minute now and kill al-Jolani! Lol
I don't think it's coping. Narratively, everything about Maximus points towards him rebuilding the NCR. His whole life is shaped by the philosophy of his dad's final words, that he needs to leave the world a better place than he found it. In season one he thought the Brotherhood of Steel would let him do that, but as per usual, that's not their thing. They're more interested in hoarding technology than actually helping people. So all throughout season two, he was looking for a good person to follow. From Xander to Lucy to even the Ghoul, he wanted someone to lead him in the right direction before finally upon donning the NCR Power Armor, realizing that the good leader he's been looking for all this time was actually himself. This is highschool English level shit, it shouldn't fly over your head.

Iirc when Todd was talking about why this show got greenlit after countless pitches for a Fallout show, he said it was because of the characters and their stories. So because of that, I don't think we'll get a fakeout situation where these character arcs get stopped short in unsatisfying ways. That's not to say there won't be twists and turns and struggles since iirc the actors are signed on for six seasons of this shit, so don't expect the NCR to be built in a day, but it's almost certainly going to happen eventually.

Enclave doesn't use crucifixion and just kills people they dont like so i think they are better.
People who moralfag about Fallout factions are the worst imo
People who think moralfagging is when you say the evil faction is evil are the worst imo

i know that is not the point that game made when it comes to legion but nuclear war served as a reset button of sorts for the civilization, would be it that crazy of an idea to create a civilization not imitating the one that caused such an outcome (as NCR was trying to do) but to go further back to try develop something else just with some head start.

The necessary evil
Necessary evil is when you actively burn through tribes and their resources until you reach a point where your empire can crumble due to trying to incorporate too much land. At some point it stops being necessary and starts being self imposed and harmful.

Its not and caesar is onto something with his opinions on ncr history/life compared to the legion but its also just as stupid to recreate rome as it is to recreate pre war society.

The funny thing is, he's deliberately trying to recreate Rome...but he's ended up accidentally with many of the problems which caused the Western Roman Empire to collapse. If he were playing ROMAN CRISIS BINGO the only thing he would be missing would be the part where his praetorians stab him to death.

Gives the Legion an extra mirror to the NCR though which is pretty entertaining.

He brought rome back just to speedrun its fall.

The legion are such an important piece to the overall puzzle to why new vegas is so good yet a lot of fans ignore it because "oh their evil slavers who crucify people, they're the bad guys and its actually problematic to join them or like them."
These aren't the one dimensional slavers in 3 who are just evil because 3 wants to tie everything to karma for some reason they are given actual history, they are given reasons and experiences that shaped their actions and they serve as ramifications from the ncrs actions if you agree with Caesars take that the ncr only worked with Tandi as president/glorious leader and corruption genuinely didn't happen before her death.
