My take is that the ncr making actual power armor with all the gizmos working was a pet project by a few engineers who realized the ncr had more to gain with proper PA but the fall of shady shands shelved the whole thing after a single suit. The way people in freeside reacted to the suit implies the ncr had more and wore them pretty often tho.
I don't see it that way, I just see it as a one off some guy made. It hasn't been seen outside this singular suit, and it's alone in a supply depot left behind by whatever remnants of the NCR remain. I don't think there is anything as of now to imply it was anything more than that, a one off. If it's intended to have been made by the NCR as some sort of post-war production suit they will/would show us, instead it just appears in a shed.
Of course, episode 8 or season 3 could just show every NCR battalion packing around a suit of this shit and I'd be SOL, but for now I think the most reasonable answer is bespoke custom made power armor.

Why the hell is everyone treating this show as canon when it absolutely isn't and shouldn't be?

Why else would freesiders react to the suit if there wasn't more or worn often enough to establish it in memory?

You know thats a good theory, I'll split my bets on my idea and that

Cause it is, you don't have to accept it but it is
Because it is, our Lord and Savior Todd Howard said it's canon and you can't do anything about it. Interplay lost, Todd won, millions must buy Creation Club Credits.
Trillions must buy the good fight creation and have it softlock on then

I do think in the end the show will exist in a limbo similar to Tactics where nothing it says or does will get solidly confirmed in "canon" since Bethesda will probably continue to stay away from the West Coast. Like, they can say it's canon, but if nothing in a future game confirmed any of the events of the show, then it may as not exist. There some nudging to Tactics in 4, and there might be some similar nudging in 5 to the show, but I don't expect to hear anything from the West Coast mentioned in Fallout 5 (coming out in 2034 - screencap this)

So, it just was for destroying any F:NV continuity?
What's the point.

From a very cynical point of view, it simply doesn't matter. Bethesda's strategy with their sequels is more or less to keep it in-name only. Is Fallout 3 a true sequel to 2? Is Fallout 4 even a true sequel to 3? Maxon isn't Maxon from 3, Li isn't Li from 3, the BoS isn't the BoS from 3, the purified water from D.C. doesn't even make a cameo appearance in 4. Fallouts 1 through 4 are inconsequential since they're unnecessary to the development of the next game's story.

It won't matter if the tv show is canon because how will it actually affect the games? Precedent says it won't, because Bethesda uses distance + time to render the events of a something older on the chronology non-relevant. They do it with Elder Scrolls too.

Everything is canon and nothing is canon.
The show could impact fallout 5 and the wider franchise heavily or it could just be the ghoul exists in 76 and maybe the events get referenced in 5.
Who knows, we just gotta wait and see while actual fan projects do the heavy lifting Bethesda refuses
Speaking of fan projects, finished Fallout 1 Et Tu, and now going through Fallout Nevada. It's amazing how much better the characters are in this compared to later games considering it's all just crudely translated from the writings of a Russian

I think it doesn't help that Neeson doesn't ever add any emotion into his performances, that works great for a reserved character like Qui-Gon, but man James just comes off as emotionless in the game
now that you mentioned it, he sucked as hannibal. honestly outside of the south african no one was good in the A-team film.
I've been to DC multiple times, Fallout 3 was a pretty accurate depiction of what it is like to live/commute there.
you could get to dupont circle from annadale and back in under an hour at 5pm?
He's arguably a worser father to the Fallout 3 protag than Shaun was a bad son to the Fallout 4 protag. They were both anal on their fixation (Project Purity/The Institute) but at least Shaun tried to get you involved beyond the role of lackey lmao. Liam Neeson's last day with the player (considering how fast the tasks take) are:
if you don't fast travel you can travel with him across the wasteland sort of like a companion, its sort of neat.
Fallout 1 takes like two days to finish, less than a week max to 100% everything
what if i want to 200% everything?
Shady Sands got nuked (and then the collapse of the NCR) not too long after FNV.
so does that mean the lonesome road "nuke the bull and bear" ending is canon to the tv show along with yes man?

Man, the canon is whatever you want it to be. For me its just 1, 2, & FNV. Tactics gets an honorable mention but everything else is near-parodic fanfiction made for consumers.
We are not beholden to Todd or Emil to tell us what happens in a fictional world they don't care about
Same with Halo, Master Chief is still in cryo. 343 suffers from the same faggotry Bethesda does
