I found a mod that adds more compact power armor. I originally gave it to Curie, because she looks cute as fuck in it.

But then I realized something.... I can now wear power armor inside my power armor! I'm a power armored matryoshka!

Be careful; it’s a solid guide but it can make the game run worse depending on the age of your PC. Vanilla New Vegas runs better than Viva New Vegas and my PC is 6-7 years old. IIRC, it was specifically an ambiance mod that fucks it up massively. Anything that dicks with the dust effect is going to cause slowdowns (even base game it causes slow down). I never looked for one, but I recommend finding a mod that removes them entirely.

Got a minimalist FNV load order going last week to try out that New Vegas Multiplayer mod but apparently you have to sit in their faggy discord voice chat to play. Something to do with roles. Guess I'll just wait until it's finished...

I'm gonna sound like a fucking mark for saying this, but even 76 did this correctly.

Finding power armor in Appalachia is pain in the ass, because the war *just* happened. It's only been 25 years, and any working armor that was out in the open is useless. Instead, you either need to craft it, or find pieces that spawn in certain locations, usually hidden or out of the way of normal travel. You have to collect it yourself. It makes for when you have a full suit of power armor, whether a complete model or slapped together all the more gratifying.

Instead, Bethesda put their entire cock and balls into the first hour, making it as cinematic and as flashy as possible. Big raider battle! Get pointed towards a suit of powerful armor! Fight a deathclaw! Kaboom! Minigun! The only thing that entire sequence did correctly was having the armor appear rusted as fuck and broken down in some places.

the armor is also just standing in the room. Not lodged in some vertibird plating or needing assembly.

Tried the project Valkirye mod, but didn't get very far before I dropped it out of boredom, the conversations tend to drag on too long for my liking. Something funny is that Valkirye (the main character of the mod) can get an armor called Fortaleza suit, equiping her with it just breaks her body textures, this happens because I don't the Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Enchanced mod installed, the funny part is that Project Valkirye doesn't list CBBE as a mod requirment yet all female characters added by the mod need it, the mod author just assumes you have CBBE installed.

I'm trying to remember which NV mod replaces all the "9mm pistol added... Cowboy Repeater added etc." messages when you leave a casino with "Your weapons have been returned." That isn't the only thing the mod does - it's just one of many things - but I can never remember which one it is. I know it's one of the more popular ones. Anyone know what I mean?

You are absolutely right. Turns out it was a "Convenient Map Marker" mod that was screwing things up. Oh well, at least I discovered a couple of UI mods I like while trying to fix it.

YUP's ammo and component box scripting breaks for whatever reason in my game (so I get an ammo box in my inventory and no ammo), so I have to delete it from the .esm every time there's an update. No idea how or why but hey, at least its a relatively quick fix in xEdit.

I know this isn't a support forum and I swear to God this is the last time I'll ask for it. Has anyone else got F:NV's sound to work properly in WINE? Certain tracks go a ways in then cut out awkwardly and play the same 5 second loop over and over. it's irritating. I've tried installing different sound components through Winetricks and using the upgraded vorbis libraries fron Nexus. No dice.

Just so I'm adding to the discussion: Am I the only one who always found it impossible to hit things without VATS? The enemies twitch from side to side unnaturally (no inertia, so it's like they're sliding) and they always know where your crosshairs are. Combine this with OWB's tendency to give regular enemies enough hit points that they take multiple shots from hunting rifles/shotguns to go down and it just turns any shooting confrontation into a chore. Maybe it's just me but I've never been any good at the shooting in this game.

Debian and it's the GOG version. Tbf I'm running it through ModOrganizer so I'm amazed it works at all. Running it vanilla doesn't seem to make a difference, though.

Try running it through Lutris with Proton, if only to figure out what’s causing the audio issues. It’s been a long while since I’ve had it, but I do remember having to fuck around a bit to get the audio functioning. I think I ended up inserting a launch script that disabled DVX and forced it D3D but that may have been another game. Lutris should support MO as well.

My god did I forget that Minecraft/tower defense mission in Far Harbor. And how annoying it is to be one component short to build ANYTHING. It just doesn't have the pull of FNV. or even (as hard as it it at first) Fallout 3.

So I get to Nuka World because I'd heard about the Gatorclaws and thought "Hey, sounds like a fun fight!"
It wasn't. Thing went down in 5 seconds.
Why the fuck would the idiot who made these bother making these? They're weaker than actual Deathclaws, for fucks sake! Clone those instead, retard!

I mean, in real life alligators are longer than Deathclaws are tall and heavily armored as hell. My dad once ran one over and all it did was piss off the gator and fuck up his transmission. These things should make regular Deathclaws look like puppies, but instead they make them look like absolute fucking beasts by comparison.

Makes me wonder if the person who programmed them knew a damn thing about gators.

Helps that 1 and 2 focus more on the... y'know, the roleplaying portion of the roleplaying game. Focusing on character interaction and weapon choice as the big mainstays of stuff you gotta get done lets you soak in the soundtrack and art direction.

Pro tip: Don't fucking sell the chemistry books you can get in The Hub. There's a dude in the Boneyard (i think? it's been a hot minute since I've played Fallout 1) that can upgrade your suit of power armor to be nigh invincible into the Hardened Power Armor. I made the mistake of selling the chemistry books for quick cash and ended up having a s lightly harder time at Mariposa.

Probably not, especially when you know that a deathclaw is just a mutated Jackson Chameleon. A mutated alligator? That'd be like a mini-godzilla in this case, but they're just massive letdowns.
