Fallout: The Frontier - Done, and it's a hilarious shitshow

I can imagine they'd justify Halo/Mass Effect style tech in a 50's retro future because of something like FALLOUT 2 REFEREBCES which were easter eggs that justify Wild Wasteland in New Vegas and modern guns of which there's only a handful in the series. And anyone using Tactics fail to realize it's a spin-off that Bethesda would only make as "broadstrokes canon" in that they'd likely just acknowledge a couple thungs but then stay quiet on it.

Which made sense with Honest Hearts because we were in a state that was the home for the Mormons. Meanwhile this mod takes place in Portland where I can assume Mormons didn't have a big presence. Made me wonder if they even give any reason for some BoS members to be Mormons since last I recall, they all had a cult-like mindset on following a codex that told them to hoard technology.

Putting aside that the Paladin who founded the Crusaders had lived in New Canaan after surviving the NCR sacking Helios One before moving West, there are LDS (Mormon) members all over the world. Even before the Divergence between our history and Fallout's history, the Western US owes a lot of it's settlement to the Latter Day Saints pioneers. They didn't just stop in Utah, but branched out North, West, and South. So it's absolutely conceivable that there may have been a community of "Mormons" in post-apocalyptic Oregon much like New Canaan that the former BoS could have run in to.

There's enough obscure stuff in the lore that it could really go either way.

Clearly, the lead writer(s) didn't know that the Enclave would be, at best, able to staff a small fort with its remaining staff and loyalists.

Yeah, the largest concentration of Enclave were in California, chiefly Control Station Enclave on the Poseidon Energy oil rig and Camp Navarro. There were/are small outposts dotted around the country, but the bulk of the Enclave's population were located in California and destroyed by the Chosen One. The survivors moved East towards the Capital Wasteland picking up members from these outposts, or they left to live new lives like the Remnants in New Vegas, but they never would have the numbers they did before the destruction of Control Station Enclave.

Has anyone heard about a 'Wierd ghoul fetish fanfic' created by Legion dev Nazo?

I want to send that to Rogue Internet Man for livestream reading!

I'm certain that it was called "Kate and Charon", pretty sure that it was hosted on fanfiction.net, and know for sure that a link was posted at one point. My gut says that it was in the main Fallout thread, somewhere after page 190.

It was also like 50 chapters. This weirdo actually wrote the War and peace of ghoul sex.

Here you go, soldier, Don't let President Sneeden catch you with this kind of filth.

Kate and Charon [NSFW OBVIOUSLY]

Also it was written by the Crusaders dev, not the Legion dev.

50? If only.

IIRC with Kojima, he had another writer on his team or at least someone that helped keep him in check with all the story shit that was going on for the games. Once that guy left, Kojima went off the rails with shit like vocal cord parasites and "WORDS THAT KILL!!!111"

Bad dream or dying dream would of made it fit well. Especially with Doc Mitchell poking around your brain to remove the bullet and the Courier being in bed for two days. With the "war never changes" tagline the game is supposed to be known for, another way to make this mod better is if they looked back at the script and focus on making it "war is hell" without stuff like the deathclaw sex and the lizard snake people and redoing their Enclave space station where one could get the Enclave to be fascist beyond just having the player be told "they're fascist." Just show more of that fascism via logs and the like that helps one piece two and two together. More so if they could do that without copying COD or mimicking a scene from Wolfenstein where "you have to choose" or Spec-Ops where it goes on some diatribe of "do you feel like a hero?"

I can imagine one bringing up Legion assassin's using guns as a counter to justify full-auto guns and tanks and the like but on the other hand, those guys have guns because you managed to piss them off well enough that they go fuck it and decide to just kill you. Even the one dedicated to melee though will use a thermic lance or a super sledge.

Can you imagine being Kojima's tard wrangler? It's bound to be really stressful. "No, Kojima-san, we can't have vocal cord parasites, that's silly." "WELL FUCK YOU TOO."

I hope the guy was paid well at least.
The name you're looking for is Tomokazu Fukushima, who also wrote all of the codec conversations in 1-3, for better or worse. He just kinda vanished for a while, during the time that Konami got in trouble with the Yakuza in the mid-2000's. In fact, many people thought he'd been murdered by the Yakuza because he vanished and had no recorded industry credits for 8 years, from 2005 to 2013. Oddly enough, every game I could find that he's been credited on since has been with Sony, and only in their Shanghai and America branches. Never the Japanese. So he may have actually fled the goddamn country.

MacArthur never should have let the yakuza help rebuild Japan.

Check the reviews, it's just wall-to-wall sneedposting.

Also, note the profile page, which has six stories listed as favorites, all of which are Lone Wanderer x Charon romances.

Since being introduced to the Fallout series, I became a fangirl extraordinaire. Having a penchant for characters with dark pasts that are generally misunderstood by others (hence the user name), you can imagine how fast I tried to free Charon and how disappointed I was when I couldn't.

She also states the above, which I can only describe as "trying to spin the most basic bitch 'you just don't understand him, dad ' attitude as a unique personality quirk".

Today, in "shit that popped up on youtube"

Ah fuck, I also saw that earlier today and wanted to post it, guess I got long-term Ninja'd.
This clanky4 guy is great, he's been doing little Fallout memes for years, but Frontier has sent him into overdrive in the last two weeks.

Oh, shit, I didn't even notice that all the New Vegas memes I've seen over the last month were the same guy. Dude has talent.

Wait what?
Sorry, went back to revise the paragraph after looking up some of the (limited) info I could find in English about it, and autismed up some redundant word usage.

But yeah, Konami, like many Japanese game companies, has had dealings with the yaks in the past. Doubly so with their pachinko business. Apparently, things got a bit fucky between the two back in about 2005.

Take Fukushima's abrupt departure from all of his professional projects, several of which he was speaking quite passionately on the future of, his lack of social media, and the fact that he dropped off in the middle of a yakuza dispute with the company, and the rumors of his death make more sense. Some official publications even listed him as deceased, and weren't corrected until he popped back up in 2013. Still, there's the fact he dropped off the radar in the middle of a gang war and reappeared eight years later working overseas.

Apparently, writing convoluted Metal Gear Solid plots weren't enough for him. Man had to live one.

The part that makes me laugh most is the repeated claim of "we didn't know". Really? You didn't know, despite this thing being worked on for up to 7 years? Did nobody, not the original members, or the new contributors, ever take a moment to look at the assets of the mod they were involved with and what was being added to it or already there? They really never noticed the fetish content? The noncery?

You're telling me they didn't once google search Nyaalich and see if they had any previous work? Not once did anyone at all get curious about a username like "ZuTheSkunk" and search it? I can't believe that for a second. Not only is that level of non-interest bullshit, that level of compartmentalization is completely fictitious.

They absolutely knew, they were absolutely okay with it, and they're absolutely getting what they deserve.
That is what I find odd. This may be a small team but I find it hard to believe that nobody, at any point - even if it was just to ensure everything was compatible with the prereq mods, went through and ensured everything was on the level with everything that went into the codebase. I certainly would have, and i'm saying that as a programmer and game developer myself. Not doing so invites all kinds of potential problems. How do they know one of the programmers wasn't some sketchy pos who slipped something invasive into the codebase? For all they know one of them could have gotten involved just so he could slip in some code to plant a homemade keylogger onto the systems of everybody who installs the mod and steal their passwords/account info/etc... Hell for all they know pedo dev could have added in some kiddie porn easter eggs rooms involving textures of the actual stuff. Congrats dev team, you're now guilty of felony distribution of child pornography and don't even know it, and 'well we didn't bother to check to see what had actually been added to our own project before we distributed it.....' isn't going to fly with the feds. They are lucky it only ended up as bad of a situation as it did. It could have been far, far worse for everyone involved

There is a reason every dev studio keeps close track of the codebase submissions to every project they're working on and goes through them before anything goes live. Certain standards for dev work should always be in place in every team for every project, no matter if its a 200 person microsoft programming team working on a new version of windows or some 5 man indie modding team

So yeah, either these people have zero common sense and are total idiots or they knew. and the fact that people are coming forward stating they told them and got banned for it years ago speaks for itself

LORD IMPERATOR said:
Except again, Eden's sapient because of a computer glitch. Meanwhile, Lanius comes from a culture that executes people for failing. He should know, he's killed people just for that.

Lanius: "The Courier convinced me that Hoover Dam can't be taken. But next time, I will kill him/her!"
Caesar/Other Centurions: "You failed. PRAETORIANS! COVER THIS MAN IN PITCH AND THROW HIM IN THE GRAND CANYON!"
The legion is ruthless not stupid. The same applies to lanius. Such a move is not failure when its been made clear to him in an indisputable manner that even if he were to win the battle it would mean the inevitable destruction of the legion

Whats that the klingons say? Destroying an empire to win a battle is no victory, and ending a battle to save an empire is no defeat? Neither caesar nor lanius got as far as they did by being idiots who can't understand the realities of the situation

They're lucky Zu the Skunk didn't put any MLP Hentai in the mod. Considering how lackluster they were in keeping track of things, that could have happened, and their asses would be in jail for peddling CP to a global audience.

Tell that to Joshua Graham after Boulder City. Tell that to Centurions and Legates who have done well to get promoted that far, only to get Lanius' fist in their faces for screwing up ONCE.

Current hot shit on the Nexus: the Frontier Unofficial Patch, all of the bugfixes, none of the censorship. Slightly convoluted installation, so RTFM.
Someone start a playthrough of it right now! Let's catalogue it and dissect it piece by piece.

Ah fuck, I also saw that earlier today and wanted to post it, guess I got long-term Ninja'd.
This clanky4 guy is great, he's been doing little Fallout memes for years, but Frontier has sent him into overdrive in the last two weeks.

I discovered him when he made that Caesar/Dagoth Ur joke. Now that the Frontier is out, he's more funnier than usual. He has a lot more to work with.

The most ironic thing about the Frontier Legion is their heavy reliance on tech such as fully-automatic firearms, tanks, energy weapons, etc. When Lucius, the commander of the Praetorians, tells the player that Caesar taught them not to rely on firearms as they can jam or weaken them in the battle. They use melee combat more than long distance, with the exception of a submachine gun, a lever action, or a revolver. Usually the use of firearms are from Recruits or at the most the Decanus.
Literally not true, in my current normal difficulty playthrough almost all legionaries including assassins use guns against me.
