Fallout: The Frontier - Done, and it's a hilarious shitshow

Which FNV uniques are worth getting?
For doing a build around? If you're running off of Cowboy, Medicine Stick and Mysterious Magnum. If you like your ARs, Survivalist's Rifle or All-American, depending on if you prefer per-shot or DPS. Dinner Bell and Shotgun Surgeon are a hell of a combination, and there's always This Machine if you like your rifles old-school. Snipers have Cristine's COS Silencer Rifle and the Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle, though I'd argue that they still don't match up to the Anti-Materiel Rifle. A Light Shining in Darkness, Lil' Devil and That Gun are good backups if you don't feel like ooperating out a 1911. For melee, Nephi's Golf Driver is the undisputed king, though that's at least in part due to meme value. Unarmed is frankly spoiled for choice: Golden Gloves are a must-have for a pacifist run, but there's also Two-Step Goodbye, Greased Lightning, Fist of Rawr, Love and Hate, and more. In the energy category, the YCS/186 is the king of long range, and both Pew Pew and Elijah's Advanced LAER can be nasty if you're willing to put up with their operating costs. For explosives, go with Thump-Thump, Mercy or Esther, depending on exactly how hard you want to ruin someone's day.

If you use WMX, there's a mod called Not So Loud Please that lets you get a suppressed Paciencia/Hunting Rifle and Battle Rifle/This Machine on top of the prior mods. Needless to say you can wreck face with Paciencia and This Machine in that case since they're suppressed, so chain sneak attack crits with them. Snag Boone/EDE and you're golden for long range work.

Also, A Light Shining in Darkness is a 1911, but loosely based off of the officer's version.

The uniques in 4 are pretty bad. They feel like something you would see in Borderlands which is probably where the idea for them came from. In New Vegas the unique weapons did bonus critical damage, more overall damage, had a unique appearance and had unique effects to them like the Cleansing Flame which is a flamer that shoots out blue flames instead of orange flames. Even the uniques in Fallout 3 felt a little more grounded.
Also terrible is that they don't even get unique models. Bethesda is so fucking lazy all they do is slap a name and a +3% damage to synths on a gun and consider it finished. Like Kellog's pistol should have something unique going on, imagine killing Benny and he's just been using a regular ass 9MM this whole time. That's lame as fuck.

I played Fallout New California a long time ago and quite liked it, never finished it though and as especially the beginning is very linear do not feel like going back to it.

Now Fallout the Frontier seems to have been made by a bunch of leftoid trannies from Reddit if you go by some of their interests and what they do (and do not) object to..

But I watched this video:
And frankly I end up agreeing with most of it.

Is there more to the story than some pedo being involved and some inappropriate stuff being part of a post apocaylptic universe?

The writing is supposedly bad, how bad exactly?

Like for example, is it full of completely out of touch, moronic lines like this?

Is this a pass or not? If compared to FNC that as mentioned I liked it.

I'd summarize the writing with an honest to God scene.

You rescue a sex slave from the legion and she's super depressed and can't bring herself to go on. One of your options is to quote the "Why are we still here, just to suffer?" meme at her. Judge that for whatever its worth to you.

The pedo did some of the art assets that got removed. The writers were definitely writing one handed.

Tbh I thought the video kind of made some retarded takes. The dude basically condensed all criticisms of the game down to just being autistic screeching and then autistically screeched about questionable things the past official games had in them. The issue is that the things in those games were spread out over multiple games that were released over many years, and the devs didn't act like they were feverishly cooming over those things the entire time while saying a particular faction in the game was so morally reprehensible that they wouldn't let the player side with them.

On its own that could make sense if you just met her and you're a pure sociopath.

But then why the fuck have you just rescued her, probably risking life and lim.

Thats really fucking dumb.

Yeah I agree, the video was primarily strawmen or misrepresentations of the outrage. Most of the points about sexuality and slavery in previous games are pretty pointless. Sexuality isn't new in Fallout, I don't really recall seeing anyone say that. Why FISTO is remembered is that it was intentionally weird as hell, the entirety of that quest line is really.

The Death Claw fucking is just wall-to-wall stale memes on top of someone shunting in their coomer fantasy. It wasn't because people clutched their pearls over sex in a Fallout game. Hell in 4 you literally get a buff from fucking your love interests.

I'm not even sure what they think the comments about the atomic wrangler shouter is proving. A child said 'horny' so no holds should be barred, I guess.

There are core issues with the writing that go beyond skunk pedo art assets and stinky feet. America is creepy as fuck, there's used condoms placed around the environment, you can fuck a deathclaw, a teenage girl wants to draw porn and promises you her virginity, it's full of that shit. The problem with the main quest is that it's a bad Kojima fanfiction wrapped in a Fallout skin. Some faggot made his Phantom Pain fanfiction and we all rightfully laughed at it.

I played the entirety of the NCR questline for my channel as well as the Crusaders of Steel questline and probably 50% or so of the side quests. The mod is bad really bad, but it's not bad because of the sex stuff. It's bad because large segments of it are an on rails third person shooter that does not work in New Vegas's engine and the plot is almost entirely plagiarized from Call of Duty, Dead Space, war movies, and Metal Gear Solid.

It probably took me 40 or so hours to clear and in that time I saw maybe less than ten creepy dialogue choices and a few condoms on the ground in one of the NCR tents. It's bad mod made by idiots but hack Youtubers are acting like it's a porno mod for clickbait purposes and it's really not.

Man everything is plagiaraized from everything nowdays.

It's also hilarious that the mod claimed to be "canon compliant" when the entire mod focuses on the NCR having a huge army of deserters threatening to end democracy, Caeser apparently having a social progressive as a Legate (who threatens the central tenants of the Legion without anyone rasing an objection), and the Brotherhood being infiltrated by Mormons and making use of prostitutes to carry messages.

Im actually not 100% sure if it played out that way, but iirc some hyper autists or "/v/ users" (dev codeword for anyone who didnt like the mod) actually got the nexus tag for "lore friendly" removed, and i think the frontier devs bitched about it on their discord lmao

Is this the same "canon compliant" mod that lets you play in a space station?

Don't use WMX honestly it conflicts with loads of other better mods and most of them are poorly designed balance wise with a lot of them being literally just arbitrary damage upgrades

Now the frontier is worse yes but let's not pretend new California is some innocent mod by comparison the writing is still aggressively bad especially that fucking end twist that seems to act like it's explaining some plot hole that was never there to begin with

Unless you know of another weapon mod err... mod, I'm going to stick with it. I know there's WME, but I don't think that's any better in terms of balance or compatibility?

From what I remember, most of them make sense, like carbon fiber parts to reduce weight, extended mags, and improved durability by replacing the slide or such. The fact that they actually show up on the gun is pretty cool, too.

From viva new Vegas mods to avoid:
Overwrites Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod's mesh fixes and requires conflict resoluton with any mods that edit weapon records
I'll generally take functional iron sights and better looking weapon models generally speaking
