Fauci ‘not sure’ why Texas doesn’t have COVID uptick after nixing masks - Who could have predicted this?

It’s been some five weeks since Texas lifted its mask mandate, and there has yet to be an explosion of COVID-19 cases.
It’s something Dr. Anthony Fauci can’t quite explain.
“I’m not really quite sure,” he told MSNBC this week. “It could be they’re doing things outdoors.”
Daily cases in Texas hovered above 7,000 in early March, when Gov. Greg Abbott lifted the state’s mask rules, leaving it up to individuals and organizations to make their own decisions.
Now, according to the Centers for Disease Control, new cases of COVID-19 are under 4,000.
Fauci noted there can be a delay in how and when cases manifest.
“Often you have to wait a few weeks before you see the effect of what you’re doing right now,” he said.
“I hope they continue to tick down. If they do, that would be great but there’s always the concern when you pull back on methods — particularly on things like indoor dining and bars that are crowded — you could see a delay and then all of a sudden tick right back up,” he said.
“We’ve been fooled before by situations where people begin to open back up. Nothing happens and then all of a sudden several weeks later things explode on you, so we’ve got to be careful we don’t prematurely judge that,” he added.
President Biden had slammed the decision to ease the state’s mask mandate as “neanderthal thinking.”

That's the article. Can't wait to see him change his statement in a week.

I'm going to be real, I can't take any of this shit seriously when these dumb fucks said shutting the border down was racist (odd that oh so sensitive NZ managed it then) because ORANNGTAUN MANE BADE, and you're telling me to french kiss and go balls deep in chinatown like there's a fucking Chinatown in every city in the country, and then tell me I need to stay inside because BUT BUT GRANDMA.

My grandma died years ago and I really don't give a fuck about yours tbqh.

People in Texas are still mostly wearing masks inside public areas and almost all stores are still requiring them. There are just less paranoid people wearing em outside. It's good to be businesses operating like normal.
It depends on the area. In Californian DFW, people still have their panties in a twist. Out where I live South of Abiliene, people never started wearing masks unless they were at work, and then generally under their chins.

Masks have always been a "we gotta do SOMEthing" measure with little real world benefit.

Population density. These proverbial city slickers, fauci included, don't seem to realize that places like Texas aren't comprised entirely of shoulder to shoulder commutes and dick to ass workplaces.

Fauci had to visit bathhouses to figure out how HIV was transmitted. I'm surprised he even believes in the germ theory of disease.

I'm surprised he even believes in the germ theory of disease.
Germ Theory of Disease is when the disease gets you if you aren't following the rules.
Just like how Herd Immunity is when you protect people from the virus, not expose them.
Just like how Darwinian Natural Selection is when the fit lose out on resources and reproductive success to ensure the unfit prosper.

These are the The Science, do you dare question them, Q-Tard?

Pretty much any graph comparing places with masks and without mask shows similar curves, and almost universally the harder an era locked down, the worse their numbers got. I posted tons of links in the Happening thread last year, I could probably dig them up. Seriously, the Farms has one of the best repositories of actual real information on COVID on the internet, if you're willing to dig through it.

Surgeons wear masks to prevent the transfer of blood-borne pathogens from the person they're performing surgery on to themselves from fluid spatter. There's a peer-reviewed study that showed no difference in post-surgery infection rate between masked and non-masked surgeon. Same with masks and Influenza. Unless your wearing a properly fitted N95 or better, the virus particles and what have you are just going to be redirected to the gaps between the mask and your face. This is basic physics and how gases work. Also, just in case you haven't figured it out, Asians wear masks out of politeness, not because they're effective. They still get and pass colds and flus at the same rate everyone else does.

Masks don't do shit, but they make you feel like you're doing shit and give you an excuse not to wash your filthy hands or do the things that would actual help. Because feeling like we're doing something is more important than actually doing something. Because most people are idiotic, virtue signaling bootlickers who have to shove their fingers in their ears so they can imagine they're right instead of doing research that would show them to have been wrong. Their egos can't take the hit. That's why they wear masks when they're alone in cars and screech like howler monkeys when given real research that shows they're wrong.
I also remember finding a study on viruses with similiar sizes to coronachan and similar spiky shapes and posting it on the megathread since it showed that cloth masks are useless, surgical masks were 20% effective, and N95 was 70% effective in preventing the virus.

I'd look for it harder, but the current "gotcha" is that it's not to prevent airborne pathogens but prevent waterborne pathogens.

So I've been wearing masks in my high infection rate city and have been getting rather sick this past year. No Covid. Test was negative and so was the antibodies test. I'm wondering if having to breathe in my own germy exhaled air is making it harder for my body to stay healthy. I have a chronic cough due to scar tissue. The mask makes my nose run.

Forget grandma. Masks are making me sick. And yes I wash them.

Well I agree that wearing masks outside is retarded and mask Karens can fuck off but in a non-ventilated indoor room, masks actually prevent transmission. Why do you think surgeons wear them?

I think a lot of people wear them wrong though, and if that actually translates into less deaths and cases is contentious. I see it as a minor inconvenience that is likely to help.

Mask mandates and lockdowns only slowed the spread by .5-2%. Preventive measures either don't work or no one actually did them properly which makes them useless.
