Favorite Youtubers?

ZEUS2117 has pretty hilarious public freakout compilations.

MassiveG is my favorite gaming channel. He has a nice voice to listen to. Does mostly Overwatch // Star Wars Battlefront // Titanfall 2 at the moment.

ricesnot: Bones and Therapist series is hilarious and only takes a little over and hour and a half to watch.
LENNOZ: Makes ytpmvs, their most recent one is really good
SuperMega and OneyPlays are let's play channels that I haven't gotten bored of yet.
WalkingWithGiants: Crazy miniature cooking the tiny dough even rises, though not a big fan of the music in the background.
MowtenDoo: makes ytpmvs too
ImAPerson: ytps
These are youtubers with very small sub counts which always surprises me.

I used to watch a lot more let's player channels but now I only really watch one or two series from certain channels.

Stuff I think other Kiwis would like:
  • Gonna put in another vote for Oddity Archive. He's got a great mix of weird stuff and fun stuff, and the Record Ripoffs and Laser Karaoke episodes are consistently hilarious.
  • Midnight's Edge is a great look at Hollywood politics and the controversies behind some blockbusters and TV shows. I got on board with them during their coverage of the Josh Trank Fant4stic debacle and they had great miniseries on Fembusters, the storied history of SpiderMan on screen, and they've been doing a deep dive on Star Trek Discovery recently.
  • Georg Rockhall-Schmidt also does some really good movie analyses. He does a lot of stuff and I don't follow all of his stuff but the Film Vlogs are really good.
  • Terrible Writing Advice is a witty show that does a really good job of both dishing out real advice and also being really funny.
  • AustinMcConnell - I wish he would do more stuff like his review of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but I find myself tuning in to pretty much everything he does.
  • Down the Rabbit Hole has some good histories of lolcows and other weird stuff, it'd honestly be a good starting ground for people looking to get into the stuff we talk about here.
  • Debating as to whether I should put this in the guilty pleasures, but Internet Historian.
  • And, of course, RLM is my religion.
Guilty pleasures/other niche things:
  • I really like Overly Sarcastic Productions though they lean a bit onto the SJW side at times. They do some fun and informative stuff, especially the myths and literature stuff and the Trope Talks. I tend to stay away from the history side of the channel, but when it stays in ancient Greece and Rome it's pretty safe.
  • I feel like I shouldn't like Phelous because he was on TGWTG for a while, but I still do like a lot of his stuff (I think he was never a good fit for TGWTG and since he's left it he's had room to come into himself on his own.)
  • Musical Hell can get a little preachy at times but over all I quite enjoy it. It's also pretty niche but it's fun.

  • Cayleigh Elise (true crime without sensationalism, covering a lot of cases which aren't so well-known in a very respectful manner)
  • CallMeKevin (gaming shitposting with quirky characters used across different games, like "Dear Leader" Jim Pickens and Grognak The Destroyer, Attorney at Law)
  • Ladybeard (Japan-based Aussie crossdressing prowrestler and heavy metal singer who makes all sorts of silly videos)
  • Dartigan (like CinemaSins, but for games)
  • CinemaSins
  • Alien Theory (all about the "Alien" franchise)
  • Klayton Fioritti (all about the "Jurassic Park" franchise)
  • Markiplier
  • badassgamez (let's plays of custom Tomb Raider levels made with the engine of the PS1 games)
  • Mister Metokur (which I found about thanks to the Farms, and while his politics often don't align with mine, I enjoy his sense of humor and wit)
  • John Maclean (the only makeup youtuber I ever watched, I don't care about makeup but I watch him because I love how well-spoken he is)
  • The Jessa Channel (very relaxing and pleasant let's plays of her lovely custom neighborhoods in The Sims 2).

I like The Unusual Suspect tho I can't understand a word he says. Good editing.

I've been a big fan of HC Bailly's Let's Plays for about a decade now. I usually don't like Let's Players but HC Bailly knows his stuff, does very thorough playthroughs and has a decent sense of humor. He also mostly plays JRPGs which is a huge bonus for me.

I guess a second favorite I've known for about as long is NintendoCapriSun, his choice of games are more hit or miss for me but still very enjoyable.

This guy is pretty good. He cites sources and picks apart data and primary works.

  • KZXcellent - A LP channel that mostly does JRPGS with other genres thrown in here and there.
  • Pikasprey Yellow - His channel where he does edited/scripted videos.
  • Pikasprey Blue - His LP channel where he play a bunch of different games.
  • penguinz0 - Mostly does shitposting videos about a bunch of different topics.
  • Sunburned Albino - Does LPs of different games with edited/scripted videos thrown in.
  • Nux Taku - Does informative/joke/sarcastic videos about anime.
  • videogamedunkey - Does comedy videos about video games.
  • Summoning Salt - Does videos about the history of records in speedrunning.

Some of my favorites that I don't remember seeing posted about so far.

There's a guy by the name of Noah Caldwell Gervais who does vidya game reviews that are incredible. A channel full of cerebral, 90-minute essays full of heart & insight and good enough to be taught at a university (one from another timeline where academia hasn't gone to shit). Dude deconstructs things like nobody else can.

Check him out if you've ever wanted to see the living antithesis to garbage game journo cesspits like Kotaku & Polygon.

If I were to condense my picks, my first choice would be the Internet Historiam. His equitabe stance on sophisticated topics based on the anthalogy of events occuring across the Internet seems captivating.
ElectroBoom and Backyard Scientist are another of my personal another favourite because of their safety regulations they regularly and carefully employ within each of their videos.

Futurasound Productions- Despite being a small channel he has very interesting videos on gaming; especially his Metal gear solid retrospective which taught me alot about the real world political connections I didn't know about.
Hikikomori Media- Covers niche Japanese games
Nitro Rad- a bit of a guilty pleasure but he does nice, chill videos on old platformers with a goofy sense of humor.
The Distributist- One of my favorite political youtubers who makes consistently interesting analyses of politics even if I don't agree with some of his opinions.
The Gaming Brit- He goes pretty in depth on games without making reviews too long
ThorHighHeels- Another nice niche gaming channel

Reading through this thread was interesting. Some that aren't mentioned here.

Azzyland - Reaction channel which isn't for everyone but Azzy is super hot and a total sweetheart.
Isaac Butterfield - Aussie comedian rants about PC culture and has a hate boner for vegans and cyclists.
Jaltoid Media - BF/GF Let's Players. The GF, Emi has the cutest little voice but swears like a sailor.
KeepetClassy - Aussie Let's Players featuring Gabe who used to stream with Yahtzee on his channel.
Matt Santoro - I'm a sucker for top 10 lists and the man with the impossibly white teeth delivers.
