Favourite "Old Internet" stuff - Let's reminisce about the Wild West days

I love Dream Jelly, does anyone else find her channel comforting to watch? Her videos have actual effort put into them compared to the other channels talking about nostalgia and her theming was very clever.

Another good channel that gives me cozy vibes talking about nostalgia would be PatMac, though lately he hasn't been that active and his videos don't feel as lively nor consistent as before. With the last two videos, the thumbnails don't match the theme as the others either.

I don't know if this was a widely known site, but I used to go on AndkonArcade.com like everyday in school cuz it was one of the only flash game sites I knew of that wasn't blocked on the school computers

A lot of people mentioned how they miss the decentralized and sincere communities of the past - this is exactly why I love Kiwi Farms.

I might not be a veteran user like many here, but lurking the forums reminds me so much of my experiences with Internet communities a good decade or so ago. Even though there's many of us here, some with widely incompatible worldviews, there's still a sense of comradery that you can't easily find elsewhere anymore; the common sentiment that keeps us coming back despite the outside stigma this place receives.

I appreciate every single fellow Kiwi, regardless whether they might like me or not, and I hope this little bastion of the old Internet will persevere for many more years/decades. :)

The orange haired chick Connie, the AOL mascot who would teach you about the internet and also provide good times for just 1p a minute.

i miss being able to google something and getting results besides advertisements or reddit
Use duckduckgo.

Better privacy aside, duckduckgo provides more results. Google, being the biggest and most well known and most scrutinized, has to block a tonne of results for various reasons.

these aren't the specific ones i wanted to show but it was some of the things i liked when i was young. mad i can't filter 10+ year old videos
Old post, but I am hopefully going to make some of you very happy. You can't using the site itself. Their settings don't allow that.

But I recently discovered a trick. Let's say I wanna go back and watch the "Illuminati Freemason in Hollywood part 56" shit I used to watch as a kid in like 2007.

If you were to type that in, even if it was the exact name of the video, it would never find it. You'd get three modern videos that roughly matched, before it gave up and gave you random shit.

However, if I instead were to type "lluminati Freemason in Hollywood part 56 before:2013" into the search bar, it is only ever pulling videos that are made in 2013 or before that.

Using that and a browser extension to return YT to it's 2007 layout and function, I have been having a great time reliving some of my old classic YT haunts and falling down some rabbitholes again.

I think you just called me old there. But still was HILARIOUS. And everything I wanted to do when working as an admin back then.
I was just a uni student at the time but the BOFH was every helpdesk geek I ever had the misfortune of poking

"How do I change my password?"
"Just type rm -rf /"
There goes that assignment.

If you don't mind me asking, what extension in particular do you use for restoring the old layout?

I was obsessed with all the virtual world games. Tamatown, Stardoll, Habbo (and its various finnish copies), Barbiegirls, Line Play, Littlest Pet shop Online and old Moviestarplanet. I loved how with Tamatown you could connect your Tamagotchi toy to the website and send items to the device!

I also really, REALLY, miss Windows Live Messenger.

flash games and animations.
i played just about all of them but my favorites were, madness: project nexus, the uphill rush games, the infectonator games, the stickman sniper games, the boxhead games, and the thing thing arena games. there was also this one isometric rpg called feudalism, where you roamed this map with cities and you could do tasks for them like clearing bandit camps or repelling pirates off a ship, but you could also try to usurp the ruler of the city and the goal, i think, was to conquer the entire map. the combat is hard to describe but it was really fun once you got really powerful and you could one-shot your enemies and watch their head fly off comically as they made a funny sound. i enjoyed the adult swim flash games too, even if i was too young to really understand them completely. the five minutes to kill yourself games had some brutal little cutscenes that were enticing to kid me and the amateur surgeon games were challenging in a fun way and similiarly violent.
there was this one website i visited a lot called stickpage, and its how i discovered the madness combat series but it hosted a lot of other cool animations. my favorites were the animator vs animation series and this silly one where a bunch of stick figures peed into a pool and dived into it. the sites still up which is cool but obviously its very broken now.
there was also this one racing game i remember my friend showing me after school called need for madness and the soundtrack was really good, i still listen to it today, very catchy midi tunes. unfortunately, while the base game was free, the multiplayer wasnt, and i remember being bummed by that but alleviating it through watching videos about it on youtube.
but i think the thing that is the most sad for me to reminesce about is roblox. i spent a lot of time on it back in the day, it was the first ever website i signed up for im pretty sure. its depressing looking at what it is now, how it went from this knockoff lego sandbox game with janky physics and cute, blocky characters, to this weird e-dating, child scamming, furry and creep containment slop. i miss how innocent things used to be. also, hi kiwifarms.
edit: does anyone else remember those old mcdonalds and burger king branded club penguin-lites? mcworld and club bk were the names. not a lot of stuff out there about them but i remember asking my parents to eat there just so i could get stuff in the games.

I missed audition online. I used to hop on my pc and play it after school as a kid but now the server is dead in my location.
