Time for some Transformers sperging.

The figures Chris is sperging about come from the Generations line, and believe it or not, they are actually aimed at people his age, just as much as they are for kids. That's why this year's line is riddled with more obscure characters from the 1986 line instead of just another ten Optimus Primes and another forty Bumblebees. While they are selling to kids, they're also selling to adult collectors with nostalgia boners for things they bought as kids.

Adult-oriented Transformers have been a thing for over a decade now. It's where you get things like the absurdly-expensive Masterpiece line, which are riddled with overcomplicated transformations and weird extras to try and justify the fact that they're at least twice as expensive as the often-times bigger Leader Class figures. There is also a highly-popular third party market that makes Masterpiece-quality figures for characters that don't have them/won't get them, comic or cartoon-accurate figures for characters that did not receive one, and a host of other things.

The Generations line is kinda like that but less insanely expensive. You aren't going to get much new out of Generations, it's 90% remakes of figures that already existed in the 80s, and they're sold to sperging fanboys based on that merit. Kids will buy them too, of course, but they'll buy it because it's a Transformer.

The figures for six year olds are smaller, simpler, and cheaper. They're the ones attached to the current cartoon, whereas the toys Chris is sperging about are more directly tied to the decidedly-more adult comics produced by IDW.

Now, I await your Autistic ratings.
