People get pets without thinking about the vet bills. Animals get sick, things wear down quicker, it becomes more expensive to ensure their quality of life keeps up. Chris and Barb don't have the money for that. I'm just glad it's a smaller animal that tends to be more independent so it has a better chance. Although part of me wonders what they'd do if they adopted a large adult dog who could easily just do and take whatever it wanted while ignoring the loud "NO! NO! NO!"s.

Any able bodied person who lives under the same roof as their elderly father and let's pop be eaten alive by insects until he dies is totally capable of caring for cats and dogs.

I think that's the most fucked up part about Bob's passing. Normally insect bites are such a small thing, even if you get a lot of them, but these were big enough to be included in his health report, what the fuck, what kind of insects were they attracting? Roaches are nasty, but they don't bite.

This makes me crazy. WHAT severed half of this kitten's paw and he couldn't round him up until now?! I've never even SEEN an injury like that! They feed their dogs cans of chicken noodle soup, straight out of the can (Catherine debriefing about visiting the rental house, don't know the link, sorry). I've worked with animals my entire life and this makes me ill. His comment about "two others are elsewhere" scares the fuck out of me. Local animal rescues will generally spay and neuter free or at a very low cost. And now he's keeping a wounded, largely feral, kitten in his room with a dominant adult cat "for company". They should never have been allowed to have pets. Sorry for rant.

Those little fucking German roaches do. If those get into your house and establish a breeding population, God help you, because they're almost impossible to get rid of - they breed explosively and are resistant to a lot of insecticides (and quickly build up resistances to new ones), and all they need to keep going is moisture and a little bit of food. One of the quickest ways to get them is to leave pet food out overnight - and I'd bet cash money that Chris just keeps the bowls topped up every so often whether the food's being eaten or not.

Their bites are just a bit painful and rarely even leave a mark, but to someone with limited mobility and advanced age (and likely a compromised immune system), I could see them being very nasty indeed.

But once he started begging, I think he opened the door wide open for discussions of his spending and finances. If someone is considering tossing him a few bucks, they have the right to ask what he will spend it on. I guess Chris has the right to say "that's none of your business", but if he does, he has to accept that a lot of people's legitimate reactions will be to tell him to fuck off with his begging.

Chris is simply too dumb to understand that "nosey Trolls" (original spelling) who track every penny he spends and "fans who give him donations" are the same people.

Aaand of course he named his new cat after a desert treat!

Seriously though, I doubt any trolls would have a problem with Chris spending their limited funds on food and medical aid for a crippled kitten, instead of blowing it on Legos and vidya.

Especially since turning into a crazy Trans-cat lady in his middle age is at this point one of the more hopeful scenarios for Chris.

So how long until the cat becomes overweight due to neglect?

I bet it isn't housetrained either if the dogs are any indication.

Unless something has changed, Chris isn't exactly known for being housetrained--nevermind the animals he's roped into his area.

Remember that he makes sense of the world, and was taught his moral compass, through comics and TV shows.

He has a need to sharply divide people between "good people" and "bad people".

The realization that good people sometimes do bad things, or that bad people can be kind and do good, would probably break the tenuous grasp he still has on reality, and would most likely put him in a catatonic state/make him move permanently to his inner Cwcville.

Why do they always have to be so cute? :(

Animals are too innocent to be subjected to that house.

Jesus this thread is full of salt and dumb shit

I love cats and I know how the Chandlers handle the dogs is shitty, but cats are pretty independent animals. You just have to give them food and water, and Chris does that. Not everyone gets thousands and thousands of dollars worth of shots for their pets. They feed them and give them a place to shit, so that's good enough in my book. (I say that as a cat dad.) The Chandler cats probably love having all that hoard to climb on, so there's that. Sure, Chris has another pet he gives half a shit about, it isn't like the cat is in danger

I would be more worried about the Slaton sisters owning pets, honestly
