I don't know if anyone brought this up but bringing in a new pet might mess with the others.
Anyone who adopted animals at different times know there's an introduction process. With cats, the trick I've heard about it rubbing a sock on the new cat and let the old pets sniff the sock so they can get the scent of the cat. During this you keep the new cat sequestered for a bit so the other pets can start to identify the smell and it's not just shoving a new cat in their faces. Just putting the new cat and Lucy into the same room is a bad idea, Chris.

Not all pets get along with new pets. If you introduce a pet that causes trouble (either being the aggressor or being aggressed again) you can have a real issue. Fights would be the worst case scenario, but if your other pets are constantly scared that's just as scared. In this scenario you can either return the new pet to the shelter (which is :heart-empty:), let the situation be and hope it gets better, or be a completely piece of shit and let the animal out in the world to fend for itself.

I'm more worried about the dogs. I know the dogs are lazy, but they're all ill-mannered and I wouldn't be surprised if they might not get along with the cats. And with a bum paw the new cat might not be as nimble as the other.

What's the likelihood, do you think, that Chris and Barb have obtained the toxoplasma gondii parasite from the animals? It has some pretty interesting effects on the human psyche, usually absentmindedness, loss of judgement, and usually HIV shit.

They might have, wouldn't surprise me due to the environment they are in

Just before this thread gets locked, want to tell everyone to DONATE to their local Humane Society!

Instead of giving money to a grown man perfectly capable of getting it himself, give it instead to cute kitties and sweet puppies!

Why are you so eager to talk about that? Would it really be some kind of big revelation if a pet owner used a pet store gift card?

If I gave Chris money I'd STFU about it.

I have no illusions that any of the gifts I sent Chris are really going to help Chris become a productive member of society.

The point of sending stuff to 14BC is just to watch Chris's reactions. Chris losing gift cards, blowing the money on junk food, and trying to return/exchange nutritious food are just examples of Chris being hilariously stupid, as usual.

Nice excuse pal

Chris's reactions don't cost 500 dollars

The Chandlers are the kind of people who would rather take in strays or buy pets from private puppy/kitten mills because it's usually cheaper than adopting pets from shelters and they don't have to deal with all those "meddlesome hassles" like home visits, paying/neutering fees, and paying for v*accinations.

Poor kitties.
You wonder if he has enough money to spend on cat food, because it would go into his Lego and Barb's hoard fund. Anyone who lives near him, maybe you could sneak into his yard at night and put out some cat food and water.

That's another thing, they already contracted scabies and god knows what was biting Bob before his death. Human beings were never meant to live in doors like their animal friends, so just imagine what disgusting things lurk in the Chandler home with all that crap piled to the roofs. I bet Chris also puts down a list of his good qualities for a girlfriend as "good housekeeper".

Adorable cat but I genuinely fear for its safety. Not that Chris is going to intentionally hurt it but just that he'll be a fuckup who decides to give his cat leftover McDonald's instead of actual cat food and otherwise be lazy about it.

I think that sending pictures of the inside of chris' house could help send animal control over, the bare minimum animal control has is not met by chris or barb due to their atrocious living conditions, chris feeds them and supplies water, but he does nothing to reign in snorlax's hoarding and the entire area is infested with mites (scabies) and probably bedbugs still if not fleas and other such vermin.

Ok, but that is how pets work.

I don't doubt that most of the people who are really upset about this are much "better" pet owners than Chris and Barb, and spend more time, money, and care on their animals. That's great. But that is way above the minimum standard that animal control agencies for pet care. Basically you need to not abuse them badly and not do things which puts their lives at risk.

There is a reason for that. Enforcing any standard which the Chandler's would have to involve really getting up into the business of anyone with a pet. If every dog owner faced random inspections and risked losing their pet if the fence on their pen was shoddy, they fed them a little too much, or they missed a couple walks, it would be ridiculous. As a society, we don't get up into people's business to that degree for a reason.

This demonstrates one thing that is considered neglect since they don't bathe their pets or clear out their house of their junk which makes for an environment that parasites such as fleas, bedbugs, perhaps even flies (I am sure if you saw the chandler cats suffering from myiasis, you would be livid) .The fact that Bob had to be administered to the hospital due to bedbugs before his death is a pretty severe sign of infestation and a risk that any animal given to the Chandlers takes.

I see the cat has a cast on...any idea if Chris is going to have to keep the wound clean at any point, like when the cast comes off?

My pets aren't normally in conditions where they can get mutilated so I'm unfamiliar with the healing process.

EDIT:
Holy shit I just thought, what if the cats jump on top of the boxes and shit? Oh my god, they could get crushed!
