FBI agent does backflip at bar accidentally dropping gun, picks it up and mistakenly shoots someone

An off-duty FBI agent allegedly accidentally shot a man in the leg early Saturday after the agent’s gun fell from his holster on the dance floor of Mile High Spirits, according to a Denver police news release.

“The victim was transported to the hospital with a good prognosis,” the news release read.

The name of the agent wasn’t released because he hasn’t been charged, said Marika Putnam, a Denver police spokeswoman.

The man who was shot remains in the hospital Saturday afternoon.

“He appears to have non-life threatening injuries,” Putnam said.

Video of the incident obtained by Denver7 shows a man alleged to be the FBI agent dancing while surrounded by onlookers and then executing a backflip. During the flip, the gun appears to fly out of the man’s holster. The man in the video jumps to pick up the firearm and appears to fire the gun in the process. The man puts the gun back away in the back of his pants and holds up his hands as onlookers appear shocked and scared.

“When the agent retrieved his handgun, an unintended discharge occurred,” the release read.

The agent was taken to Denver police headquarters and was released to an FBI supervisor. The incident is being investigated by the Denver police homicide unit. Charges will be determined by the Denver district attorney’s office.

What that drunk cop was doing was barely a backflip, it's more a kind of special mating dance for idiots.

The headline implies that the person was shot during the action of picking up the gun.
I don't think there is more to read into it than that.

EDIT:
How about this:
"FBI agent does backflip at bar accidentally dropping gun, picks it up and mistakenly shoots someone"

I'm really missing what you're getting at.
The FBI agent does the backflip
The FBI agent drops the gun mistakenly
The FBI agent picks it up
The FBI agent accidentally shoots someone while picking it up

The only other person is some random guy in a crowd who receives a bullet from said gun.
Headline is fine, Vrakks is confused. Reading is hard.
No, a negligent discharge occurred. Very telling that he wasn't charged, do you think if anyone else not working for the state "accidentally" shot another human being wouldn't be facing charges of firing a firearm within city limits, gross negligence, etc etc?

He was also dancing in a fucking bar, who wants to bet he was drinking?
Charges have not been determined yet. He could very well face charges. Does no one read the article before making “witty” comments? Kys

Alright, we'll see if he faces charges when any other citizen would have been arrested on the spot for negligently shooting another human being. Instead he was "released" to his FBI superiors, and this dipshit is free to get drunk and flip around and drop his gun in public bars some more while awaiting charges.

Do you think he got a breathalyzer when he was brought in? Do you think police would have withheld the name of any other person who negligently shot another person in a public bar because he was doing a backflip?

Did you know in almost every state it's illegal to carry a gun into a bar, unless you're a cop? I guess his job of impressing the sluts there with his drunken backflip was part of his duty as a public servant.

Wait a week and he'll be cleared, 99%.

According to this, it's a felony in Denver. Did he not negligently discharge a firearm? What exactly more do they have to investigate? Was he actually just pretending to shoot that person negligently, he was undercover and needed to take him out discreetly?

Actually, according to another article, thankfully they did blood test him.

He should have been charged with a felony regardless of if he was drunk or not for the sole fact he shot another human being in negligence.

There is a clear preferential treatment of police when it comes to charging other police, and it's abhorrent when it is still the case when someone gets shot because of it. Police being held to lower standards while granted extreme powers over all other citizens is the reason why there's so much government hatred lately.

Here's another case where a human being negligently shot another in Denver and was charged for it without even awaiting a blood test to see if she was drunk. Why do they have to wait for this FBI officer's blood results to come back? It's irrelevant to the biggest offense he committed.
