I tried searching these boards for Malatora content, and found none. If this has been posted before, apologies.

The Federated Commonwealth of Malatora are a small group of people who are completely serious in their desire to:

Establish a sovereign nation on a currently-inhabited island off the coast of Africa.
Develop a self-sufficient gift economy.
Transfer their brains into cybernetic dragon bodies.

I think they have been mentioned before, but I think it was on one of the previous incarnations of this board. But yeah, these people are nuts.

Ooh, this is gonna be good! There are so many (intentionally or unintentionally) ridiculous micronation projects we haven't discussed yet. Nothing can top t...

Transfer their brains into cybernetic dragon bodies.

...okay, that came out of nowhere...

I for one welcome our robot dragon overlords. :)
Yeah, who wouldn't want to be a cybernetic dragon? That would be totally awesome.

Of course, if I were to run a project like this, I might first make sure that the technology is actually getting there... within the next few, um, millennia... before concerning myself with relatively simple problems like getting a darn country of my own. I have some concerns about the priorities, is all I'm saying.

I share your concerns. However I can understand the temptation to put off incredibly complicated research projects in favour of picking out velociraptor fur colours...

Reminds me of a band I was in. We spent both of our rehearsal sessions choosing our name and drawing album covers.

I have a similar project - establishing a new nation on a pleasant island with a tropical climate. The most important article of constitution will state that apart from me, only cute girls can become citizens. Also, clothes are banned.
I too had a similar project. It was one where we either become pastel colored horses or fedora wearing neckbeards. Joking aside, they have some kind of subculture group.
Subculture Groups

The Malatoran population sympathizes with the ostracized and rejected groups of the world, and welcomes the vast majority of them with open arms. Subcultures that have found a safe haven and meaningful belonging in our community include elements of the Otherkin and Furry fandom communities, the bisexual and homosexual communities, transgendered individuals, as well as naturist, transhumanist, and environmentalist groups and movements — we do not turn anyone away for anything as petty as their beliefs or who they love: all are welcome.
Would this mean they might welcome people of questionable morals such as pedophiles?

How long until bronies are clamoring for cybernetic pony/unicorn/pegasus/alicorn/whatever bodies to put their brains in?

People who establish micronations can be very interesting characters. There's one guy who established a micronation, Molossia, in Nevada, which has a space program consisting of launching model rockets (from what I heard), and where catfish and incandescent bulbs are illegal (not just restricted from sale like some are in the surrounding USA, but illegal), among other things.

Having a cyborg body like from Ghost In The Shell sounds seriously awesome though.
