Either you lack reading comprehension, or my autism is on point today, because I can't tell if you're joking. If women can't carry stuff what's the point of letting them in the army? They'll just distract everyone by smiling at boys and asking them to carry their gun for them or w/e.

I think maybe people are getting the wrong idea about boot camp, or at least USMC boot camp. Too much Full Metal Jacket, I guess
The world is full of people who have strong opinions about the detail of military operations despite never having been within spitting distance of a military base, let alone a war.
At least those are merely annoying. What's worse is Congress is full of such people, who have no concept whatsoever of war and yet are continually hungry to enmesh us in it to enrich the military contractors who bankroll their reelection.
Hahaha what the fuck are you talking about. That's mutiny and you got killed for that up to ww1.I don't necessarily see a problem with someone being removed if their troops don't have confidence in them though. The traditional way that officers were chosen in militia units, all the way up WW1 as far as I know, is that the units elected the officers and they served at the pleasure of the men they lead and could be removed by a vote any time the unit wasn't in combat.
They practically do this still. I don;t know how many fucking absolutely idiotic smug fresh out of college officers I could tell had a silver spoon in their mouths their whole lives. These guys would disrespect 40 year old e-7s as if it was their birthright. It's also worth noting that in the past officers could buy commissions or receive them by virtue of having noble blood.
If there were a list of problems in the military that have long been unaddressed this would l#700. The us military just moves under the determination of it's members in spite of it's terminally fucked culture and celebration of mediocrity in the the higher ranks. The place is well and genuinely fucked I can't even explain it to civilians.I'm hoping the USMC has good reasons for making this change and that it's not simply removing an officer who was actually doing the right thing to prepare their people to succeed. Could be the colonel was over-compensating and holding her people to unreasonable standards which is no more acceptable than a black commander pushing black recruits harder because he feels they have something to prove
That's called an officer. There are lots and lots of people who just find comfortable places to exist and then earn a reputation with the right people by working the shit out of the lower ranks doing unimportant work and annoying busy people with the details of their uniforms and other crap.it easily could turn into a way to collect welfare without doing anything.
so smaller people really will struggle physically to keep up.
At any rate, the point of boot camp isn't to constantly verbally abuse the recruits at every possible moment in the worst possible way while the training is going on, it's not just some stupid stress test to see if you can stand being berated constantly while running obstacle courses and doing push-ups for three months.
I have to disagree I've heard that tear you down and build you up stuff. I think it just gets repeated because it sounds good, the whole military is full of dumb sayings and mottos passed out as fact ..
I like exercise but I was sick and puking the whole time but they made it fun. I don't know that I would live like that normally but by the end of bootcamp I was pretty much used to what was going on and remembered thinking I could live like that for a year if I needed to.Maybe. I wasn't exactly in a good state of mind back then, so I wouldn't be able to say for sure one way or another, but boot camp being fun and games? I get the feeling you might've gone to a different place than I did. Either that or you're just one of those people who enjoys exercise a little too much.
