you can tell he's trying to grow an audience, but man I hope he doesn't cuck out.I feel like when he says "some right-wingers are bad" you can clearly hear the "not sensible well-read outdoorsy types like us, I'm talking about those nazi chud fratboy log cabin cop-loving fatcat wall streeter qanon think tankers" undertone and when he says "some leftists are bad" it sounds more like"okay technically yes they're not literally 100% individually all drugged up violent perverts but the statistics don't lie".
It's not really a criticism, it's just fun watching someone try to rationally toe the "both sides can be bad" line when his instincts tell him otherwise.
He kind of does that a lot but I don't think it is simply vapid overthinking. He takes the interesting question that a piece of media raises and he runs with it.Also he's overthought Fallout 3 to the point hisskulgunheadcanon is now the best game in the series. Gotta respect that.
Yes I have often had thoughts like this about the nature of "non-conscious" intelligence, and it was excellent to find a really good description of it that even kind of clarifies what I thought.I just saw his video on Blindsight, and it's been long enough since I read it that his tangent on modern AI was a real "wow" moment: with his comparison in mind I might recommend this book instead of tedious philosophy to try and explain why I think (present-paradigm) AIs are probably mindless.
A fair criticism of the book but the underlying concepts still remain incredibly descriptive.Nature has plenty of overlapping right angles. Probably enough over a lifetime that you'd get at least one with 30% or more of your visual field.
He is actually really fucking good and he approaches "hot-button" issues extremely fairly. I think Anarchists are very, very stupid but I don't have a lot to say in terms of a critique of this guy.His new video on the original film adaptation of Things to Come is pretty iconic. I can see this guy becoming a big man on YouTube, he hits all the notes pop culture Breadtuber and Tumblr Foreign Affairs Wonk fans love but doesn't feel the need to derail every interesting line of thought with an overwrought apology for intersectional idpol the way they do.
I've watched every single one of his videos probably about 5 times at this point. So I found this guy's channel a week ago and I've been binge-watching ever since. He is the Paul Harrel of history/literature analysis channels.
He is likely naive and doesn't know just how bad things really are. But I also think it is worth the right considering some of the failures demonstrated by reactionary and more right leaning movements. It's not really a criticism, it's just fun watching someone try to rationally toe the "both sides can be bad" line when his instincts tell him otherwise.
He can't keep getting away with it!Nigga just spoiled the entire plot of Gattaca and then recommended everyone go see it.
I don't want to take this thread into New Vegas discussion but not enough people make comparisons of the NCR-Legion relationship to that of the United States-Soviet Union. NCR models itself off pre-war America and the Legion are red authoritarians. Far too much Legion discussions boil down to "The Legion is a cult of personality which'll collapse with the death of Stalin- err Hitler- err Caesar" but the Soviets continued after Stalin, and Nazi Germany would've survived after Hitler, credits to their bureaucracy. It is fair to assume [the Legion] would, with how we don't get a look into the state of internal Legion affairs, but the Legion isn't a unique invention, devoid of inspiration. It wouldn't parallel the NCR well to have the Legion's weak point be "getting a shot at the big guy takes the whole structure down."I don't think he's letting his libertarian leanings get to him on this one. Cesar's Legion will continue simply due to the fact of momentum, and that so many people have been brought up in the system that they now are fully bought into the system.
