Fighting Game Community (FGC) General - The history of FGC drama, general FGC shenanigans, and directory to more eccentric individuals and subcultures within the community

I like how UltraDavid deputized himself as the Woke Sheriff of the FGC. Truth is, he's a bandwagon beta bitch cuck that's guilty of the same "speech-crimes" he's oh-so-willing to point out.

Yes, I remember this. This was, I believe, the girlfriend of the guy who lost grabbing the guy who beat him in the game. She tried claiming that he grabbed her up until this video came out. If I find the screencaps for this, I'll be certain to post it here. Better context and documentation of these things it the big goal of this thread.

If I do wind up finding the screencaps, I'll also be certain to host a mirror of the video here, as well.
Nichegamer covered it here in an article about trash talking.

NaughtyZeut, another player at the same tournament, ran up to Shinblade and laid her hands on him. Though reports on the incident were all over the place, those in attendance claim that she didn’t appreciate his celebration and that is what led to her assaulting him.

What made this worse was that a couple male attendees, who some say were friends of NaughtyZeut, started screaming out for Shinblade to be disqualified from the tournament and seemed to try to twist the situation in such a way that their female friend would be seen as the victim and the victorious Shinblade as a loud-mouth aggressor who broke the rules.

Excellent, thank you. I'll archive this for posterity's sake.

It's not the most exciting thing but I still have screen caps from when Gllty got kicked out. Gllty is/was an american pro Street Fighter 5 player living in Japan and was part of a team or league. Gllty is also trans and looks like Leafy with long hair.

He was accused of liquoring people up or drugging them before sexually assaulting them. He denies ever drugging anyone.

The state of the FGC.

Gllty's response was to go for a post-pre-emptive admission of wrong doing.

The day before he got cancelled for being a sex pest was a happier time.

I and a few others were working on a fighting game thread a long time ago but it never came to fruition. Glad to see someone's finally brought it together!

Current lolcows who have their own threads who are or were part of the FGC:

DarkSydePhil (DSP)
LowTierGod
SonicFox

A prime source for content tends to be the subreddit /r/Kappa where they post a lot of the drama that happens in the FGC. The current cancellation waves focusing on Filipino Champ and more notably Chris G might be worth looking into for content.

Prime candidates for awful takes, ridiculous tweets and general cuckery go to David "UltraDavid" Graham and James Chen. Their twitters are regularly filled with ludicrous statements.

This guy also had this funny little diddy show up:

He went on to vehemently deny this except for the Steam names because that can't be plausibly denied, but nobody seems to really believe him.

The next level of Mike Z drama also just began with one of his former co-workers called Beezul being angry that Mike Z apparently described him as looking like a thug, and claimed that people aren't concerned if a muscly, bald white man with tattoos runs towards them at night but only when poor latinos like himself do. Yes, literally.

After working overtime to try and jump on the cancel Mike Z train, he seems to have remembered there being a "rumour" about him assaulting women as well as video evidence of him being verbally abusive at the workplace and decided to get out ahead of it by saying it's all #FakeNews as can be seen here.

I have a pretty good handle on FGC history in general since I've been tangentially a part of it for many years so feel free to DM me if you're curious about any person or event in particular and I might be able to help out with the OP.
Hey hey buddy. I was actually going to ask you if you still had the first draft of what we were working on and see if you wanted to give it to OP.

Infiltration got kicked off his esports team due to a domestic abuse case.

Oh man this was some good shit. When I get back home I'll have to show you guys some of the best chimpouts from this drama.

Phil Burnell / DarkSydePhil
Although he now has a limited interaction with it, he got his start in the FGC by claiming to be the "top rank American player" for Street Fighter 2 because he got fourth in a tournament, placing under three Japanese players, when other players were boycotting because it used a broken and obscure port of the game. Despite being now known as a hilariously bad content creator for video game let's plays, his videos playing fighting games are still among his more iconic moments.

Just a reminder that everyone in the FGC was quick to shit on DSP because of his win on the broken SSF2T (Which btw was the PS1 version)...
  • If the opponent blocks Dictator's Fierce Psycho Crusher mid-screen, Dic lands right next to the opponent
  • Ken, Dhalsim, and Sagat can do reversal supers (which they can not in the arcade version)
  • There is a slight delay between "Round 1, Fight!" and when you can actually move (speculation, untested)
  • Chun Li falls extremely slowly after her medium upkicks (Short and RH are correct, though)
  • Guile regains CPS1 chains
  • Only two buttons are required for three-button moves (ex: Zangief can do a lariat by hitting only Jab Strong or Strong Fierce or Jab Fierce)
  • Inputs must be done more quickly (speculation, untested)
  • Comboing into Ryu's super is exceptionally difficult
  • Tapping two buttons one right after the other counts as hitting them simultaneously
  • When a character has zero life left, it takes two blocked specials to kill him/her
  • Characters don't seem to get dizzy as easily (speculation, untested)
... yet at the same time they left his entries for one of the characters in the SRK Wiki. Let that sink in... fighters that want to learn how to be competitive with Blanka are taking advice from DSP.

Oh god Chen is a worm. He’s gone all in on the cancel/tranny shit and then there’s the shit about him maybe cooming on a Cammy miniature.

Any suggestions we can dig up info on?

MUGEN is an 'open source' fighting platform that has people import and modify characters from other games (sprites) to fight against one another. In this way you can have Xmen vs. Samurai Showdown, Bart Simpson vs. Chun-li, Sub-zero vs. Darth Vader, etc. etc. and a host of other oddball characters that all look and play like something you'd see in a professional video game. They are REALLY Well done

The big blow up usually revolves around someone 'stealing' another artists' assets/sprites and making something better, modifying it, or putting their characters in 'packs' making it super stupid easy for new players to download hundreds of characters all at once and play them.

Since allot of the creator's are brazillian (no idea why) they get tremendously butt hurt about someone else "stealing" their stolen artwork. Whole systems and groups have closed off any downloads or updates of their characters because of this behavior. The regular person doesn't know any better, the people who make those packs have to now go out to dozens of other places to gather the same content, and the whole community gets into a tizzy.

Brazil has a nice sizeable base when it comes to fighting games. I know old-skool ones that aren't populated by Americans (Like SF Championship Edition, and SF Alpha 2) are majority Brazilian players on FightCade. Majority of spanish players also like the old-skool VS series games (Like X-Men vs Street Fighter).

Regarding the VS series, their skill levels range from amateur/troll-ish to untouchable. The former will just pick a shoto like ken/akuma that can air fireball and just spam the fuck out of that while the latter picks characters like magneto and just decide to do infinite combos/juggles with nothing but light/medium attacks.

Oh, we're still pretending that smash is an actual fighting game?
It isn't and never was. Even Sakurai himself has said it isn't but those tards won't listen.

Also there's already a CW thread for smashers, so the only thing smash related that should be posted here is smash autism at the combined tournaments.
