God imagine the stench of this grand final

It doesn't help that TastySteve and the other guy are just boring to listen to.
I know it's not humanly possible but they should get Yipes to commentate ALL the big events, he legit knows how to bring the hype. Steve and Logan and Chen and David have gotten extremely boring as years go by.

Have to disagree here, not really from a personal standpoint since Yipes is probably the best commentator in the FGC and seems to be a cool guy but from a general standpoint. Putting Yipes everywhere is like a band-aid solution. You have to give other and especially new casters the spotlight and time to establish themselves. Because otherwise it will be Yipes everywhere to make the games fun to watch and everywhere where he isn't will be dog shit, almost like it is right now.

I think Sajam,Tasty Steve, Sherry, Logan, Vicious and Chen are fine, even good sometimes. But it's clear the scenes desperately needs new blood.

Problem is that new casters grow along side with new players and new tournaments - but the FGC as a whole is dying badly.

You aren't going to find many new casters worth a damn when they can literally be more successful doing literally anything else.

This match was so boring. Ash and atif are amazing players (tierwhores also) but tekken 8 is so badly balanced that everyone needs a pocket Anna like how every one has a pocket Virgil in UMvc3
Nobody has a pocket Vergil in UMvC3, he's part of their main teams.

Not sure if I would agree with the statement that the FGC is dying, stagnating might be the better term. But even then it's not really true. Still getting new games which have the potential to be big (Marvel Tokon, 2XKO), more and more in-person and online events. Though most of the modern success of fighting games centers around SF6, which continues to do pretty well compared to the competition. Sales, record-breaking entries for Evo etc. Japan also has been doing an amazing job at cultivating a community with Streamers, V-Tubers and getting new people into the game. USA and Europe certainly are struggling in that regard. There are of course the odd occurrences of really young and new players from places that traditionally are not really represented blowing up (Blaz, Mickey D).

But that all more or less only applies to SF6, Tekken is still reeling from the S2 patch and has an even worse "old men" problem than Street Fighter (Arslan Ash), MK is just single player slop and even that didn't pan out with the latest entry, GGST is chugging along but also has squandered all potential and momentum it once had. CotW is just about the prize pool.

I think the FGC will really start dying once every single game is doing dogshit.

To be honest, I have no idea how casters are doing financially within the FGC. Would be interesting to have some information on that.

Probably the same or worse ratio than players, For every one making any kind of money there's a gigantic pile not making anything. It's likely a bit worse as people who would normally cast can likely just livestream instead.

That already happened, this is them trying to "fix it" - but the damage is done. But we had years of Tekken 4-6, SF 4 and 5, Soul Calibur 4 and 5, and so on to really thin out the community and damage the concept. They went and dug up the grave of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for mainstage again really shows the state of the genre.

The end result is clear - tournaments and locals are drying up because of a lack of interest and these aren't getting converted into larger tournaments either. If you ask someone to think of "what's a popular online game?" it will almost certainly be a MOBA, or a Shooter, or something other than a Fighting Game.

The FGC will fully die when the nostalgia dies off - because it's almost entirely consisting of older people who have nostalgia for these games. The FGC is not capturing a new audience and seemingly has no plans to do so - with the only relatively new idea being to just do crossovers.

I think mvc2 is terrible for MainStage because it’s boring because it’s always storm, sentinal, cable, mag.
Ironically locals going online is great because it keeps the weirdos at home
