It was very mild and all in good fun, it's ridiculous that they would want to remove that while still having characters like Bayonetta and especially since Nintendo publishes other games these days like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or has characters like Tharja, why does Smash Bros have to be squeaky clean?

Blame CERO. Even Sakurai has stated he thinks it's weird because he even points out that it's hypocritical that overseas, guns are a huge issue in games marketed towards children or a general audience. And then there's Bayonetta who nearly raised the rating in Japan from A (Equivalent to PEGI 3 or E for Everyone) to B (PEGI 12/T for Teen)

To tell the truth…Going through the ratings board for each country/region was extremely difficult. In particular, Japan’s rating board was very strict on Bayonetta’s sexy antics, and there were many times where I thought “You’re not even going to let this through?”

You're right the later 3D entries upped the sex factor, especially 9, but it's still just not on the level of something like DOA in my opinion, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

The problem with fighting games is that so few people play them that you have to make it a part of your identity just to find others to play with, especially if you're into more obscure games.

I came to this very same conclusion years ago and just stopped playing the games with others unless I was at an event or convention that had some set up. It was better to just play against someone and never have to see them again.
