Final Fantasy VI - Cause I am re-playing it and feel like talking about it.

I’m in the process of playing 6 for the first time, have been neglecting it recently but I think I’m nearing the part where Kefka destroys the world. From what I hear most of your party members are OP by this point, so I assume battle formation doesn’t matter for the latter half of the game?

Don’t really have any complaints; the only boss I struggled with was the stupid plane one when you’re free-falling.
A little late for this I know, but you can steal a Debilitator from one of the boss' parts (Edit 1: It's Missile Bay). Same with the Crane (Edit 2: It's the right one) bosses after the Magitech factory. Though that one from what I remember is more luck than anything else; most of the time you get a Bio Blaster Potion IIRC.

It's not too bad an idea to keep casters and characters with poorer armor in the back because...

I wouldn't say OP, as most of the monsters on the Floating Continent are pretty capable of messing you up fast, especially Brainpans (the floating heads). A couple casts of Blowfish/1000 Needles and your party isn't looking too good. They can also paralyze you and cast Lv.3 Muddle and Lv.4 Flare, both of which can lead to a party wipe. Dragons can cast Revenge which hits for the total amount of HP they have missing, and their Tail can hit for a couple thousand. You can steal Genji Gloves from them though so if for whatever reason you don't have one or two now's your chance. Behemoths are just plain nasty and will counter hit every physical attack and they pack a wallop.

Oh, one last thing, if you're going for a 100% bestiary don't forget to head to Triangle Island to fight an Intangir (you remember the spell 'Meteo'? They cast it) and the forest on the west-side of the Veldt. IIRC there's a gray Bomb enemy that only appears there called 'Grenade' that shows up in the old-school circle formation.

This game, chrono trigger and a few others like ignition factor are why I'm glad the snes is the only old console I kept. They just don't play and sound right emulated. I wish I had an old CRT to get the full experience.

I guess I still have my intellevision but honestly that thing has probably rotted away by now.

Anyone know if the pixel remaster is gonna dump the ugly af looks from all of the post-snes/ps1/ds games?
Looks about as crappy as it always has, this is from the pixel remaster overview trailer.

I'll never understand the need to "reorchestrate" chiptune songs.

SE can't even rescore music from 2001 without problems.

I will never understand Squre Enix or their pervasive need to butcher chiptune music from the nineties.

Hell, they can't even rescore music from 2001 without problems.
I suppose I'd be more mad if I ever paid for an FF GBA port, but I can handicap for TOSE shovelware and generally "ehh, fuck it. if they really care they wouldn't be listening to a port"

I remember that FFVI was one of a handful of SNES games that actually managed to move me, which was rare at the time. BOF2 had moments that were legitimately touching
BoF is the most depressing series I've ever played! Cerl is a general in Zog's army who has an emotional crisis. Nina was born with black wings and cast out from Wyndia. (Katt is surprised to learn what happened, and says she likes Nina's wings, even if they are black. :))

And that's just the first two games.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

BoF is the most depressing series I've ever played! Not bad, Capcom; considering your shitty localization.
Really? 3 had a pretty good ending and 4, even with it's loose ends was pretty okay.

This is awesome, because fuck ever trying to play this fucking horrible bullshit:

It's like SE looked at all the Cal-Arts bullshit and went "You know, I bet we can make it look even shittier!".

The shitty translation of the first two BOF games is intentional. It was back during Nintendo's nanny period and Capcom knew one way to slip shit under the radar was to half-ass the translation to a degree. If you ever play the BOF2 Retranslation (and I recommend you do, it's great), why they did this becomes absolutely apparent very early on.

Although that version is complete garbage and does look like ass, the character models are based off of ancient artwork that is pretty much bang on in how they were depicted.

Cyan had an entertaining glitch but other than that... Yeah.

Ff6 is pretty great but certain things bug me. Like end-game gearing (i.e., all of Sabins damaging blitzes save 1 were based on magic, and sabin only gets 1 magic boosting weapon).

You can't top Amano. I don't care what anybody says about his art.

The Persian theme was visually striking, and made FF stand apart in the early days.

I suffered through BOTH this and FFV's eye cancer graphics to 100% them on steam. I had to replay FFV for the treasure chest achieve too lmao.

I kind of want to buy the pixel remasters just to support FF but I don't think I'm ready to burn more money at the moment.

The extra shit in FF6 was ehhhh but I liked the super dungeon in FF5. Necro felt absolutely pointless though unless you want to beat up Exdeath harder, I guess.

The Blue Mage from hell has only three real uses: Beat up Exdeath (like you said), going back into the ??? cave and it's areas to clean up any chests and bosses you may of skipped, and Soul Shrine.

A pity, as I would of liked to see a new game+ mode where you get the extra jobs earlier.
