What's the issue with the launcher that you're having?

I want to believe, I am trawling through Endwalker and Jesus fucking Christ is it painful. Just nothing makes sense, the scions are annoying and the Xenos on warrior I kid you not lasts easily 10 minutes. I refuse to buy a skip thing to get to Dawntrail but a work colleague said to me "be prepared to see Skip Cutscene a lot". I heard the DT stuff is full of cinematics... YAY. Tried Pictomancer and honestly its dull, it just feels like Red Mage for retards.

I don't understand the appeal of the game if you skip the cutscenes. Especially right now when there's not going to be much in the way of new hardcore endgame stuff to do.

Unrelated to that, the 3rd DT dungeon was okay. Last boss was fun but the camera got a bit wonky due to how big it was.

Pretty much with the real launcher, hit play game, opens new window that immediately closes and doesn't kick back an error. Sounds like a spec requirement, but my device is above the minimum, I'm on DX12, and all that other stuff is good. I used the FF14 Launcher from Github, tells me it just can't load properly and to check my firewall or other things. This is after several other troubleshooting steps to include a fresh install.

I've been wondering about this for a decade now, but why are chocobo porter's in this game? Has any actually used one?
They used to have a use back in 1.X when teleporting wasn't that convenient and actually had a "stamina" bar which you need to refill before you could do so again. They simply ported the system over to ARR when they remade the game, but never really gave them any use case after they made teleporting convenient. I guess you can call them as yet another legacy of the old game which SEnix dutifully carried forward for autistic Jap honour reasons despite not making any sense in modern XIV.

Try the official launcher, see if that works. Dalamud launcher works and doesn't work right now.

Official Launcher doesn't work either, neither of them work.

Edit: Guess I should say I'm not looking for tech support either; I was, shit's just straight not working and I've done everything. Just gonna sit out and wait and maybe try again later. Not the first time an MMO screwed me over with a new patch/expansion.

I see Squeenix is really starting to branch out their writing team towards the roleplay community of this game. I swear to god it feels like I'm reading Archive of our Own fanficition right now. The scions are hollow husks of their former selves with dialogue so generic you could have different characters say them and you wouldn't know the difference. Thancred and Urianger have nothing to do, the twins kind of just watch from a distance as Lyse 2.0 on steroids just shows off and does retarded shit while this other hollow husk of a character, Erenville, just snarkily comments on it. It feels like I'm reading fanfiction. Everyone's way out of fucking character.

I noticed this too in EW just dialogue bloat and even worse localization. The game has always been hazy but in EW sometimes characters make no sense, Elpis and the Moon were dialogue hell and that is when I started skipping cutscenes. No one was saying anything of value, yet when you skip a cutscene you miss something. Early EW is ok the Shany part at the beginning is completely pointless other to meet and not meet the twins father, wooo I guess. I noticed the catering to weird fandoms too because it's definitely not anime catering, anymore. SB and HW felt like they would cater towards Fate Stay fans, or Berserk etc. There was a strict aesthetic and in EW just everything feels it goes out the window. The Estinien and Male twin fanfic writing is just cringe and Elpis my god, I am sorry I thought that zone was so fucking bad story wise.

I have to say Lyse 2.0 sounds terrible from the get go having to deal with that and shitty Scion dialogue/scenes just sounds like hell, I am getting SB flashblacks.

Not seeing the supposed trashfire that is the story (finished dungeon 4), but I might reassess my opinion a week later just in case it's the honeymoon period speaking. I'm fine with the Scions not being vocal or as active - they got shit for yapping last expansion, and with most of them missing at any time now it feels a lot fresher (and when they do show, it's a lot more welcome because we realize how much more capable and experienced they are than most). If people keep reiterating that their time is over, we know their stories, it's all the more understandable why they now play second fiddle to the new protagonists. And with all that said and done... they're not officially the Scions anymore. They probably are meant to come off as caring a lot less about involving themselves in the core of expansion mysteries.

I guess I have the opinion I do because I always liked the Scions, all of them. So when they're not as involved it's a little disappointing but at the same time a relief that they're still there, willing to lend a hand.

4th zone is already my favourite, though the 3rd wasn't awful (except navigating around it). 3rd zone is the first one to actually capture the feeling of a thick forest/jungle area and even if it was a pain to get around sometimes I appreciated how claustrophobic it felt at times.

I think it's just... there, it's not amazing, neither does it have some great moments (so far) amongst a hodgepodge of wasted potential like EW did, it isn't actually offensive to go through like post-EW, so far it's been perfectly mediocre.

I suppose if the team was going for "summer vacation gone wrong episode" with its plot they certainly delivered that, I give it a 3/5, I also agree that the start is really slow, takes all the way to lv 93 until trooncat stops being a candidate for me to turn into a rug.

Dungeons and music get 4/5 pretty good from me, I'm liking them and the trials more than Endwalker's.

Graphic update gets a 3/5, very noticeable on cutscenes (extremely so on mamool ja/reptile skin, go figure) and certain scenarios, otherwise not really all there during normal gameplay (minus points are for some of the new armors still having pixelated shit for textures, come on, that was one of the better things the update has but I'm seeing a lot of shit that resembles the paladin AF armor from EW even in 91+ pieces).

Launch day was very stable but I'm on Dynamis so I'm unsure how the dozens that play there could have crashed the servers anyway.

96+ spoilers Story also gets a minus point from me because OH MY GOD IT'S THE ANCIENTS BUT WITH RGB LIGHTNING aka allag (probably), again.

Just got done with the DT MSQ. Been skipping a good amount of the cutscenes both because I genuinely don't have anything but apathy for the main plot of this game anymore since EW, and that WL to me feels like a rushed main character the game shoves into the spotlight constantly as if she's the main character at times.

Zone design/variety was majorly kind of bland in my eyes but on the optimistic side like I said before, I do enjoy how boss design in this expansion is upped a notch with uncommon mechanic patterns and actually requiring the player to be aware of their surroundings rather than the majority of them being 'Have free uptime while dodging the obvious orange telegraphed aoe's.' (Not a fan of the new red in-your-face message box font to alert you of when a mechanic is about to happen)

But oh my fucking god, why can't one final boss in the main expansion patch in it's trial fight just end on an actual normal note? I legit facepalmed when I saw WL pop in for the typical cutscene transition into ez rushdown/basic enemy mechanic pattern last bit-mode. I actually miss the SB Shinryu days when we actually killed a final boss traditionally without it being an NPC rescue party.

...Did have a lot of fun trolling people confusing WL with Zenos though

Overall meh expansion. Now onto levelling other combat, gathering and craft jobs in preparation for raid gear profit.
