Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Sorry, I assumed the average person was smart enough to understand the fundamentals of a class by seeing it's core components all laid out before them and go from there. Apparently I'm wrong.
The average person, yes. But the average FFXIV player? Nah.

XIV has gotten a reputation as being a non-MMO MMO, in that the 'toxic' elements of online gaming are ferreted out because of the heckin' wholesome community and it isn't like the big bad and evil WoW.

It's not true, but people sure love to pretend it is.

So you get people who act like whiny entitled cunts who hyperventilate at having to do anything beyond casting Cure 1 or their 1/2/3 combo.

There are little things here and there that are a bit obtuse if you're going full optimization, but if you can't piece together the general structure of how a job works just by leveling it, congratulations, here's your mentor crown.

Why would they even advertise for Balmung? Typically it's congested and people can't even visit.

RMT laundering, essentially.

That doesn't really matter if people literally cannot get onto the world you're advertising RP club at though

People can and do, though. A couple of friends of mine like going there to gawk at the zoo exhibits (ie, mod horror shows.) All congested means is that you can't make a character on that server and (sometimes) travel to it (usually during peak hours around a patch dropping.)

And the more tangled the RMT trail is, the better it is.

I have nothing to add to the discussion but I would like to share my experiences with my fellow Kiwis.

25 minute Cutter's Cry run (yes I'm sure there have been worse). I've been having trouble finding openings for GNB progging savage so I caved and started levelling PLD on my main.
Ended up in an optional ARR dungeon with three other players also clearly levelling jobs so we unintentionally ended up at an ARR-appropriate ilevel, and the healer decided to eat AoEs twice against the final boss. After the first one led to a wipe, I decided to reset the second time only to watch the surviving MCH solo the Chimera for the last ~35%. Apparently you can just kite the damn thing. The more you know.

Crystal and Balmung, despite being heavily congested, are rarely ever so heavily congested that people can't world hop in. That's how roleplayers and gposers frequently organize meet and fucks.

Correct. I've done so myself leveling Bard in the distant past.

I wasn't sure if it was still possible though. Good to know.

Nah, Balmung was congested to the point you couldn't visit quite often. Whenever the marketboard was cheapest there I couldn't get in to buy.

How do your posts invalidate my literal experience of being unable to world hop many times recently, exactly?

I'm not 'invalidating' your lived experience, xir.

You have multiple people explaining to you why people advertise on other DCs.

You have multiple people explaining that this is possible and something people do.

Your response was to go 'Nuh uh.'

Again: All congested means is that you can't make a character on that server and (sometimes) travel to it (usually during peak hours around a patch dropping.)

Yes, there have been instances where folks can't world hop. I've had it happen myself. It doesn't mean I can never world hop or that my singular experience is representative of literally everyone else in the game.

Is this helpful?

Why would you wanna go to Balmung? That's like saying you want someone to give you aids.
Balmung should be avoided at all costs, everyone knows this. Not even worth it to go their for the MB either.

Hey if I can get my crafting mats for pennies on the dollar I'll catch all the bugs :drink:

Out of curiosity, how much better are the deals on Balmung than other worlds for the items you're looking for? Please give at least 1 item as an example.

I second this because every single time I've price checked something across Data Centers on Universalis, things are always stupidly expensive on Balmung because highpop + RP server.
