This shocks me absolutely zero. Their was a bit during I think a LL awhile ago where iirc Yoshi P explained why they started banning FFXIV porn twitters who at the time were legit posting their ingame names. The reason isn't something like "muh children game" or "lewd bad" like some people thought at first. The biggest example I remember was when Ryne and Gaia were being sexually modded into creating yuri screenshots, and Yoshi I remember specifically saying "Don't do that."

It is because supposedly JPN's age rating board can actually change your rating based on the things that your players do in the game itself EVEN if it is modded outside the developer's control, because Japan is fucking weird. So if you can mod porn and the government knows this, they can actually raise your rating to M or A or whatever it is in JPN. So retards posting their cat girls with 10 inch minimum long shafts can actually bring in government officials to turn this into an M rated game in Japan.

The portraits are even worse because they're solely in the game itself using the game's systems to make these pictures, so SE has to take this shit down.

I think they'll just keep aggressively doling out punishments, perhaps even escalate the severity them with a warning in-game that effectively says "Be horny and die", until people get the message to stop it. SE tends to brute force their moderation and I know Yoshi likes CoD so I think he wants to have this FPS profile-esque system to pair with the pvp he wants to make be not considered a joke, especially given how vanity drives engagement in this game.

I mean the one reddit thread posted here got a pretty harsh punishment for what according to the OP is their first offense, so they seem to be accelerating punishments just to cut this out as fast as they can.

It's reddit, so either mods have to do something to manage the "pitchforks" since people on there are easily upset without knowing full information of a situation.
Or the usual "people are toxic/problematic", we lock the thread kind. Like Halo subreddit temporary lockdown.

It can be good or bad depends on cases or how dumb overall users of that reddit group. For example, not FF14 but in Apex Legends:

A guy made a thread (25.5k upvotes) complained about how a female streamer (Lululively/NRG Lulu) has privilege talking to in game ban admin, and he got banned because of her accusation. Lots of people on reddit dogpiled on the female streamer because of that, but it turned out the guy was actually cheating multiple times and ban evading.

So in Apex, you have the main reddit easily love to dislike streamers or pro players for stupid reasons. And a few streamers are kinda thin skin, they still holding grudge against the main reddit.

I don't think so. They'll be more active in policing Japan like it's always been. The game has had the community finder for a while and no rug was pulled on that.

PvP has had numerous speed hackers and cheaters in North America, and you don't see the developer deploying efforts like in Japan. Same for cases of public harassment. When Yoshida asks players to stop doing nude mods, he's talking about Japanese players.

JP players take this shit very seriously. A guy called Daigo was harassed and hounded by players for months for using "cosmetic" mods (it's fucking nude mods obviously). Despite all the harassment, SE Japan's answer was to ban Daigo.

The rules remain the same wrt lewd shit - if it's publicly viewable by the general player population, it must be SFW. If it's in a private venue, then it's judged according to the standards of the people involved. If everyone involved is of-age and a degenerate then it's a-okay.

The stuff in PF gets a pass because the descriptions themselves are not explicit and they're generally labeled 18+ which means that the degeneracy that happens inside is explicitly not meant for public consumption.

Adventurer plates are, by design, always viewable by the general playerbase unless they're private. This is why everyone that made a suggestive one is a massive retard because there's no way to tell the person who views your plate that it's explicit before they view it.

WoW had a similar thing in its armory and they axed it an expansion later. There is a simple solution to this, just have the adventurer plates as an option with off as default.
