People have started posting their dislike about the English dub for Wuk Lamat on the official forum and as you'd expect, they're immediately met with being a "transphobe", followed by disingenuous arguments and a random roe saying they're a gay black man and risking their forum account. Such bravery, why didn't he go help Ukraine out to stop Darth Vader from invading? Also, some of the replies in the thread legit come off as bots posting with how they interact with each other.


But don't worry fellow kiwers! Yoshida claims he tracks people's responses by how many likes a thread gets, so if this makes a big enough stink, perhaps Yoshida might do something but I don't think he will. Maybe he'll see that the English VA has actual hatred towards real women in one of their tweets here and image below:

I think this pretty much sums up that whole thread. It's good to see at least some people are saying something, even if it is just that the VA is bad. There's no way to change it now for Dawntrail. But there may be hope that any post launch content he gets replaced. No surprise that someone has an issue with the voice actor and says "this guy sounds too much like a man" and they all immediately cry. Not their precious tranny! You didn't like the way they sound?! I can't believe how evil you are! And here I thought we were supposed to be supporting women. Leave it to a man to do a woman's job I guess. Sorry ladies but the people have spoken.

Imo, if you're not willing to pay up to get the surgeries to pass, than you don't care about looking like the opposite gender. You just want attention, validation and asspats at that point. Actual transexuals try to stay hidden and do their best to pass enough to where an ordinary person looking at them just assumes they are the opposite gender. Anything else is just a femboy at best.

I will give him credit though for not touting a beard, crossdressing like a clown and having ugly dragqueen make up caked all over his face.

The VA is fucking weird like the trailer voice sounded fine enough. Did they get an actual woman to do the trailer voice?

It's not the worst I've ever heard. It's basic and servicable. It's in that uncanny valley of definitely not good but not actually recorded from a $15 mic. The problem is that it really sounds like a femboy. This guy has to sound feminine, do a latin accent, some kind of weird subtle growly tone to their voice, and being extremely emotive. Wuk Lamat is as spunky and energetic as it gets which is a nightmare for troons. You know that troon voice they all do where they are sort of mumbling what they say because the more they speak clearly the more they sound like their actual gender? It's basically that. His tone is so flat because if he gets too creative with his voice the illusion falls apart. In some parts you can hear him stumble and drop the accent. The guy is supposed to be Puerto Rican but probably is more white american with puerto rican grandparents or something. In my experience the spanish don't put up with this troon shit.

Its not the worst voice this game has had, though that bar is pretty low. If I had to summarize it, I'd say its trying too hard.
 
So i got to the part where they introduce Wuk Lamat and gotta say, at times if you are actually hearing, you can hear the voice crack a little and sounds like a young guy in puberty, its so jarring. That said it aint as bad as i thought it would be, still im eagerly in my digital seat, waiting in anticipation of the dumpster fire this will probably turn into. All that said i feel there should have gotten an actual biological woman to play the role.

True that, we can deal with gay shit to an extent as long as youre not being overbearing or trying to make it the center of everything. Troon shit is where we throw the line and we will ridicule you. Slight aside, but on the subject of voices, I already had a hard time buying the drastic voice change of Gaius' English lines between ARR and Stormblood onwards even with the theory of 'the mask filters the voice heavily' to justify switching Richard Epcar with Michael McElhatton.

This character though... is it really supposed to be female? Because that voice clearly sounds like that of a prepubescent boy. Hearing JP samples, it clearly sounds more natural.
 
Is....is it just me or did they make the new blood a dollar store furry version of Moenbryda?
Her fur is even the same color as her skin and she uses an axe, on top of being this spunky, energetic big girl?

Good:
More Hildibrand/Godbert
Tataru feels
Actual effort for a .5x MSQ patch
Silly little UFO mount
Allied tribe quest was fun and the reward dance is dope.

Bad:
Most of the relics are boring, probably the worst to date.
Terrible tranny acting (even Erenville can't stand it)
Fucking WEAK final island quest. Content wise it's fine but the reward, for what is ostensibly the final interaction with island sanctuary, is shit.

Also has anyone else noticed that we haven't gotten a job action teaser for Dawntrail yet? I'm reasonably sure we used to get them with the full expansion trailer, but I guess they're holding off for the benchmark this time?
