Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Final update: It's finally over. Now I can focus my attention on crafting so I can milk people fresh out of MSQ. That, and gear minmaxxing because fuck if I'm settling on overpricing NQ raid shit
The secret to making easy money on crafters is to make Magitek Repair Materials.

Dark matter clusters is relatively easy to collect, and you can assign miner retainers to get 9 at a time on a 40 minute venture (if your retainer is 70+). Grade 6 Dark Matter can be bought from like, a shit load of NPCs for 120 each.

It's a progress-only level 50 craft so you don't even need a plugin to automate it (that said, auto-extract from Artisan for the materia means you might still use one).

They sell for about 2000 each, and are basically always in demand because you're selling consumable items that are mostly used by people who run FC subs, and as someone who runs 36h Fight Club routes, dropping 2 mil on 1000 repair mats isn't that bad if I can make 20+ mil from my sub fleet.

I'd also recommend submarines (seriously, they're great cause you sell to NPCs and get money immediately), but they have three major caveats. They cost tens of millions to set up, take months to level up to the point that they can begin running fight club routes, and optimising requires reading through diagrams and charts by nerds on Discord.

Well worth it when they start paying out though. I've donated about 100 million to my FC's coffers and my personal balance is nearly 65 mil.

There's also one other significant hurdle with subs: you need an FC house, which can be very RNG dependent.

But if you have an FC house, it's absolutely worth the time investment.

mogship.com is also a good resource for planning routes.

I really ought to get onto the sub grift on dynamis, sounds somewhat hands off if timegated to shit and I could deny one plot to a future "venue", grain of sand but it has to count for something, damn it.

I'd need to find the people to sign my damn petition tough, that's the hard part.

My FC is currently working on getting the housing and subs set up. So for now, we're just doing our own thing until that gets off the ground

Just get a friend to create 3 level 1 alts and have them all sign. The only req for founding an FC is with the founder, and signees have to be non-free trial.

Worst case, just offer like 100K/signee or something and shout in Limsa.

E: The sooner you do it, the better, because you have to rank up your FC in order to be able to get land (ditto your GC.) I think its rank 5 or 6. Sooner you do that, sooner you can start bidding on houses.

You need to have 4 players in the FC to be able to bid on a house, and the FC needs to have been in existence for 30 days. Notably, you don't actually need to be level 50 or 2nd lieutenant to bid for a FC house.

Heartbreaking. :( Husband and I were hoping our little FC of two could eventually buy a house.

Once it's all set up, it's basically passive income. You don't even touch the marketboard, you just sell some salvaged accessories to NPCs.

Sooner is better too cause those submarines need to be like, level 85 to start running the routes that make money. And you need to unlock all of the first map.

This video is a good introduction to submarines.

Great Gubal Library might be my new favorite chill dungeon. It's super calming with the relaxing background music and Pepe-looking frog guide leading us past stacks of books, with random readable texts scattered throughout.

I especially like the little background dialogue details of Y'shtola and Alphinaud talking about the different books and whether they think each other would enjoy them or not! Also I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen Alphie use the black carbuncle, which is pretty neat looking. Wish that was available as a pet glam for the player character summons.

4 characters, not 4 accounts. Just make an alt each, invite them to the FC, and have them rot there until you win a plot. Then you can kick them at no penalty.
Ooo! I didn't realize we can do that! Thanks so much!

Alphie use the black carbuncle
Urianger has an Amber Carbuncle as well, he uses it in the level 89 trial if you're a healer.

While in Pagos, I found an extraordinary specimen who tried to tell me that the +2 Elemental chestpiece is better than the Kirin's Osode of Fending for tanking because of reasons.
While stating this, his Physeos Weapon has no substats rolled onto it, and he has both the Cassie Earring and Speedring equipped. (Which both have 0 substats so you can't have a Tenacity-boosting accessory equipped in its place, so they aren't worth it for tanking.)
And then while having "The Legend" as a title, he tries to say that because the +2 armor has higher base stats it's better and that substats are irrelevant.

Well that blows as I've spent every minute in this game pretending other players are NPCs with AI generated lines, so I don't know anyone who could park alts.

Unless I asked one of the 'people' I pay to invite 3 alts of mine, would that work?

I'd volunteer husband and I to help you out, but you'd have to come to our server and I can't recommend it. We picked a low population server in a low population datacenter to get the "New" world bonuses and avoid degenerates. It's nice in some ways but overall not the ideal experience.

the only time it would be a bad experience is at the start of an expansion when data center traveling is not allowed, but its probably one of the best ways to play outside that.

This would work.
Make a role in your FC that does nothing other than allowing someone to invite/accept applications, then hope the person you are paying to be your retainer for around 15 minutes stays in the same spot so that you can get your 3 alts to be invited in. Then pay them around 50k gil for their time.

You do need to have done the first three quests to be able to do this, though.

is not possible, you need to be from the same world as chroma to help them out here (If you made an alt on their world, it would work.)

It's more of a problem if you're a raider.

You can't access FC buffs and retainer inventories on a different datacenter. Which can be a pain in the ass if you keep your stuff on a retainer and means you can't benefit from the FC food buff. Plus due to being on a different server, you can't just do open-world content with friends on your world while you wait for shit to fill.

I'm lucky that Light is EU's raiding DC, cause if not, I'd have to constantly hop back and forth for reclears.

I am in Maduin, Dynamis datacenter which would coincide with a dead DC and deader server, if you're there you could, otherwise thank you for offering; I can toss one of the Limsa wastes of space some gil to invite 3 alts I'll prep in advance.

Another Yoshida interview (aka another episode of Yoshida flailing and completely missing the point of why people hated Dawntrail) just dropped:

Yoshi-P: "This time when we looked at Warrior of Light, he will be a supporter in 7.0 MSQ"

TL DR version :

>The Warrior of Light is indeed still the main hero of FFXIV but is just in a supporter role in Dawntrail

>He asks fans to please not make any personal attacks to Wuk Lamat's voice actress(es) or localization team members; they are just doing their best to deliver a great product

>The slow pacing of Dawntrail is due to having to learn about new environments and cultures, so it was necessary but did indeed make the first half feel very slow

>He believes those who did not warm up to Wuk Lamat probably feel this way because she was introduced in a negative light with a complex compared to her siblings, which he thinks players might have found frustrating

>He understands the negative reaction to Dawntrail's slow pacing and Wuk Lamat's character and says this is something the team will need to improve on moving forward, so they will take all this feedback into account.

Thoughts?
