I've stopped playing, I was huffing some copium hoping that Dawntrail would mix the formula up a bit and make things interesting rather than the same stale shit I've been playing since Stormblood. My sub will run out a couple of weeks after 7.1 drops, so lets see if the content promised in that patch is enough to keep my interest.

Reading these articles where Yoshida is trying to shift the blame on us and not the VA's shitty behavior or their EN localization, Kate, who hates white people for existing. Makes me really glad I didn't renew my subscription last month. I think I might be officially done with this game because I'm sick with Yoshida being delusional and I've been playing since ARR beta

I'm taking somewhat of a break from FF14 too. There's still things for me to do, like leveling WAR and PLD and all my crafters and going through the new maps but a lot of personal things have happened that have kind of forced me to stop playing as much as well as losing the motivation I once had.
My dad recently passed away and funds have had to go towards his funeral services. I'm still in the mourning period so yeah. Sorry for the powerlevel.

I enjoyed how, before the "grand melee" between Ishgard and the rest, when I talked to the random Immortal Flames NPCs they nervously asked my character if the rumors I wasn't fighting on their side were true. Minutes before I bashed their teeth in lmao.
Also seeing Raubahn kick the shit out of everyone before the duel between him and WoL was fun. I'm glad he's back to his old take no shit self after losing his arm. Having him address the character by their rank (does he do this if you're not in the flames?) was a nice touch too.

All the city state leaders do this if you're in their Grand Companies, yeah, throughout the MSQ and side quests. A nice little touch from the writing team back then. Usually those parts are unvoiced too, so it's not as difficult as it would seem.

So I just found out about the Wuk controversy and, from what I've read from Dopey Cunt, I guess that lioness thing having a tranny English VA makes sense, as the 2 have been attention magnets in terms of the universe's praise and discontent.

Yep. He's been a subversive agent for a while now. I wouldn't be surprised if Kate has dirt on him or at least someone at CBU3. I could easily see Yoshi, Koji or Soken caught up in a scandal due to how eager they are for weird parasocial relationships with fans and how sleazy some of the recent additions to the team have been. Susan was classy and kept a healthy distance from drama yet was unfortunately cancelled for far milder takes than what Sena is spewing everywhere.
Susan's replacement, Amanda, is an ex-Only Fans actress who almost certainly slept her way into her position. She's stopped being so obvious at grifting but early on she leaned heavily into the 'crystal mommy' nonsense and had her journalist buddies prop her up with fluff articles of how great she supposedly is. Not to mention having a wishlist and begging people to buy her free stuff.
Then there's Kate and Sena who are absolutely rabid in regards to hating anyone who doesn't subscribe to their specific and nutty ideology. As with many localisers, Kate is also awful at her job and freely alters aspects of the story to her liking.
Add in a compromised moderation team and anyone pointing this stuff out, even politely and with physical evidence, ultimately ends up getting banned. It was pretty sad to see some big names on the official forum get nuked for pushing back against this nonsense but from what I hear it was the straw that broke the camel's back and made them realise the game was well and truly lost.
It's a shame because it did used to have a lot of potential but Square Enix as a whole are heavily infested at this point. The pendulum will inevitably swing against them and arguably already is which is precisely why the terminally online elements of the fandom are so utterly rabid lately.
I really hope they're stupid enough to have Yoshi-P, Sena and/or Kate call out 'bigots' during the next Live Letter to wake even more people up in the process.

It really bums me out that I only just now got into the game during its downslide. Playing through ARR and HW has been a lot of fun, and I wish I'd been able to be involved with the game at a more hopeful point in its history so that I could feel excited for future content.
But after everything I've heard about DT and the staff currently running the show I can't help but think it'll never again live up to its potential. I think that's a shame.

Frankly, he's so good at this job that he's convinced the team that they don't actually have to put any effort into the game, because people will buy it regardless.
I swear to god, steer clear of any Bethesda games. Might not be able to handle the web of intrigue and mystery peddled by the enigmatic "Todd-H."

The other reason Susan was given the boot was because she's a favorite of Nobuo Uematsu, and once he stopped being involved with XIV after Stormblood Soken switched to Amanda
