Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I don't get it.
Using "autism lol" as a smokescreen to hide an exhibitionism fetish, the desire to be caught.
I don't know what a lot of you have been on about with regards to Woke Trooncat though – it still felt like they were trying to keep it front and center instead of sidelining the character, even with DA REAL SPEEN trying to take the spotlight
I think it's the pause in time. Played all at once, Wuk still feels prominent and involved, whereas if you play the patches separately, Wuk's relative absence from the second half feels more substantial - perhaps because the first half also spends so much time on the insufferable buffalo plot.

I think Grave Mind had it right, though, with the personal army vibes.
I don't disagree, but I often find that people who are so repeatedly overt, so repeatedly out themselves, and who do so despite several obvious rebukes get a sortof adrenaline rush from the 'edge' of almost being discovered, amplified even more when the laundry getting aired brings even more attention.

Dawntrail and its consequences have been a disaster for the thread regulars population

I have played them separately though. I still think they kept Woke way too prominent even in the most recent patch. Like, the creature is still right there almost every step of the way.

Shame, dude gave me some information on addons/plugins. I guess the resident retard/autist role is split between me and Dopey now.
Stopped clocks can be right twice a day. I found the admission to automating the majority of the game to be odd, then the hyper aggression quite strange. Especially when paired with very up-to-the-minute gossip about really weird social groups. The kind've shit you'd only know by being part of the groups.

Guess the phonebook on what they're up to proved my suspicions right.

I do feel they are dialing back the usage of Troon Cat. 7.1 was kinda unavoidable given the dev cycle but they were tapering off usage. 7.2 continues the trend. Yes, the lump of shit is still following you around, but they becoming more of a background fixture. The most aggravating aspect of it all, IMO, is that you have the leader of a foreign nation more or less fucking around with the sovereignty of another nation and it's not really addressed beyond a 'maybe this isn't a great idea.'

In prior story arcs there was a LOT of hesitation for any of the nation states to get involved with each other's business. Doesn't matter where or who it was. I miss babby's first statecraft moments and loathe retard's first MSQ writing attempt.

What would be funny is a double fakeout and instead of having Real Sphene get the Aerith treatment, Wuk sacrifices herself in lieu of her, with the expectation from the writers that people will be distraught over her death (but instead are celebrating it.) I don't think it'll happen because it kinda goes against the themes/vibe of what they're trying to clumsily do in Dawntrail, but it'd be funny as fuck.

I disliked most of Dawntrail except for Solution 9 and the Arcadion. The Arcadion is awesome.
They should have just made this MSQ a tournament Arc instead of Wuk lmao's wild ride.

It would take my opinion of Wuk Latroon up from a 0 to a .5 out of 10. She at least will die and never curse us again. Would also let her brother who I find less shit do more things.

They won't do that they'd get too much backlash and its much easier to leave her off on the sidelines instead of being a major player.

My pipe dream is that Wuk Lmao will be the antagonist of 8.0, the story being about how the combination of naivety, blind optimism, and incompetence twists into tyranny. Essentially a prime example of toxic positivity. But, that would require writing abilities beyond that of a grade schooler so it definitely won't happen. Still, a man can dream.

They're slow playing it a bit, but Wuk is almost certainly going to get the Lyse treatment by 7.3/7.4 in favor of the new plot/tie into next expansion. She'll probably just show up rarely like Hien/Lyse/Aymeric does in the MSQ, once every 4 years or so.

Totally off topic, but I see a lot of Wuk defenders claim that reception to Dawntrail has all just been a shot for shot repeat of the fan hate for Lyse and I just can't agree with it. Lyse was objectively less shit than trooncat, and I think the reason why Lyse ultimately didn't piss me off as much as Wuk is twofold;

First, Yda/Lyse was an established character. Yda had been one of our Scion friends all the way back since ARR and while I always DID find her mildly annoying she'd earned her place in the cast by the time of Stormblood. When Lyse made big requests of WOL and our characters just rolled with it, yeah, it still made sense. We had an established relationship and a solid reason to want to take her side and support her goals. Meanwhile Wuk comes out of fucking nowhere and we just drop everything to be her sidekick without any true justification (excepting maybe investigating Krile's family but lol look how that turned out). We don't know if she's the right person to be on the throne. We don't know who she is or if she's trustworthy. Never is this addressed- Both player and character are just expected to give a shit about trooncat from the word go and it's so fucking jarring.

Second, as bad as she was in sections, she still didn't dominate the entire fucking dialogue of the expansion at every moment for the entire runtime. We got a breather from her frequently. There were other characters allowed to shine and the WOL was never sidelined to the point of no longer feeling like the actual fucking protagonist. I still felt like the hero in Stormblood. I got to go party it up in Japan Doma with Hien and the lizard barbarians and be the person who indisputably saved the day. Lyse never made me feel like second fucking fiddle in what is ultimately a power fantasy of a game and for that I can forgive a lot of her many sins.

Stormblood was never my favorite expansion and I'm pretty sure I said as much back when I did my mini review in the thread after clearing it for the first time. But at least it never overtly insulted the player or treated literally the most important fucking person on the fucking planet as a backup dancer for a fucking cat. I no longer have it in my heart to despise Lyse after seeing just how awful an expansion focus character can truly be in the hands of the woke.

Even that is too good for trooncat. They should be ideally lining her up for the Moenbryda treatment by 7.5.

I haven't gotten to sperge about the DT MSQ in this thread yet, so I will take the opportunity to do now.

Not defending Wuk Lamao, but I genuinely think she is not the worst part about DT MSQ. Yes it is an obnoxious shonen character that gets way too much screen time and holy shit I am so sorry for people playing with the otherwise excellent english dub, but with them playing her down in 7.1 and 7.2 I still don't vibe with the MSQ, because the worldbulding is so irredeemably bad, that only leaving the continent/shard can probably fix the story for me.

Tural is a complete snooze fest, there is absolutely no friction there, it is almost a parody of how friendly and peace loving everyone around is. Incredible difference to Eorzea, where the Scions basically had to foster cooperation between the city states and in case of Ishgard doing just a tiny bit of political murder to get things going. Even ignoring that, the different tribes societies are so lame and have barely any grit. The Mamool Ja were probably the closest, but even they folded after we told them to cut it out. They even said they were sorry. There are no cool legends or stories, I know people say the non MSQ quests are better in the regards, but I found those lacking as well, I just don't care. And don't get me started with the absolute boredom that is the Pelu Society quests. Tourism, really? Showing Punities to tourists? Fuck off.

Solution 9 is another can of worms, ignoring the absolute break of aesthetics and doing the unvorgiveable of giving modern glam faggots an excuse to point to: Everyone involved in the MSQ should have been absolutely horrified by everything in S9. They use souls as currency to prolong their own life. EW established that Sad Twitter girl extinguishing souls permanently is absolutely against nature and way, way worse than death. Any soul tempering is. If you did the Baldesion Inn scene with Y'shtola, seeing the WoLs soul mangeled during ShB disturbed her a lot. And here these faggots in S9 use souls as commodety and suck them dry to extend their own life, and use them in their funny little gladiator arena because otherwise they would be bored as fuck. But no one ever called that out, no one bat an eye that they nation attacking us is using vile means of prolonging their life. Replace the hipsters in their jogging suits and headphones with crusty ass mages and they would have been hated to no end. Even ignoring that, despite being a technologically advanced nation that was basically born out of a war that nuked their entire Shard, they jobbed against the Landsguard in Tural fighting with sticks and 12 dragons. They had every single advantage, down to what, 30 years of Zooral'Ja preparing the invasion, and they were beating in less than an hour of showing up. I can not vocalize how incredibly bad every single thing in the latter half of 7.0 has been and continued to be in the patches. And this says nothing about the character assassination of the Scions. The only part I really enjoyed was teaming up with Thancred to rescue Wuk's retarded ass from those bandits. Alisaie was completely out of character, the suggested rivalry with Thancred and Urianger was non existent. Krile is so much of a nothingburger despite being the marketing face of that expansion, PCT doesn't fit her at all as job, and her plot gets dragged along so weirdly and is resolved in 10 minutes before we do the exact same plot again with Erenville right after that in Living memmory. I am actually thankful the Scions I like -Estinien and Y'shtola- were not in the plot at all. It feels they had the vacation experience we wanted: Estinien got to wander around freely and eat cactus meat while Y'shtola took one look at Wuk and excused herself to drink Mochitos at the beach.

I am not upset if people enjoy the MSQ, it just isn't for me. It was bound to happen, I really enjoyed most of 1.0 to 6.5 but 7.0 rubbed me all in the wrong ways. Naturally the only thing that keeps me going is the twins deadass looking into the camera in 7.1 and going "Look WoL, we know you hate it here and everyone sucks, but just a bit longer. After that Y'shtola will take your dimension key and go somewhere else with you.".

I actually like the XIV merch and these would be perfect for my 痛バッグ but once again this company couldn't stop itsself from being extremely Jewish: It is gatcha blind boxes. Imagine buying a set of 9 and getting 8 Tatarus and one Alphinaude. Jesus christ stop making shit producer ego projects like XVI and make games that sell instead of fleecing fans for their cash with gacha shit.

I actually agree. While trooncat is inherently obnoxious and a lightning rod for deserved attention, I feel like it has also masked some of the deeper issues in the writing itself. Call it the Mass Effect 3 syndrome.

For those not in the know, ME3 was also an incredibly decisive bookend to the Mass Effect trilogy, much like DT is now. Often, people will point to Kai Leng or Starchild or even the 3 colour ending as where the story went awry, but frankly, they're simply an easy scapegoat, much like trooncat is here. The deeper things that I feel really sunk the story as a whole are like "why the fuck is Cerberus fielding a whole goddamn army, why is the Crucible a thing and why does Earf specifically get the special Reaper treatment for some reason?" all went conveniently unanswered and not even scrutinized. Which is how you get extremely bad takes like "ME3 was fine until the ending!!!". No, retard, the story has been retarded from the beginning and arguably since Mass Effect 2.

Tangent aside, Solution 9 is such a garish blemish on the aesthetics on the world of Eorzea. Sure, we already had magitek stuff from the Garlean side of things, but those still hew to the fantasy aesthetic of Final Fantasy (even if it shamelessly borrowed from 6). Tural itself is such a mangled, sanitised continent that honestly did the mesoamerican culture they borrowed heavily from a great injustice and one that should have invited criticism from anyone who liked their culture.
