Looking around comment sections and what's left of forums I see a lot of gamers missing the old lobby systems and servers that created friendships rather than single serving opponents. With the big social media problem and discord monopolizing voice chat it's become difficult to find other players if you dip into a genre your friends aren't interested in so what's the solution? How do you meet coop buddies online these days?

The problem is much bigger than you realize.

Normalfags have completely taken over "gaming", so it's not the nerd's club domain that it once used to be. Ontop of that, politics have seeped into gaming and the minds of normalfags as well, so it makes things worse. It's how things like the old guard from the early 2000's wind up getting trolls remorse and decided to drink the kool-aid in current year.

Anyone with a like-minded mind fucked off from the internet a long time ago. The only thing i could suggest are bunker boards that moved away from 4chan/8kun, and MAYBE you might have some luck, but otherwise, even IRL you ain't going to find anyone like that.

Worst than that, there are girls that ASK for money for the privilege to play with them.

Gaming nowadays is too infested with anti-social autists, politispergs, annoying zoomers, and normies. This mixed with the "everything needs to have matchmaking queues and elo" mindset mainstream multiplayer games have, it's pretty impossible to form any real connections with anybody over gaming as a hobby anymore. I'm thankful to have the small handful of pals I do know but if I ever wanted to say, make new gaming friends to eventually form a clan/guild for a particular game, I'm shit out of luck because nobody knows how to fucking talk anymore.
The ones that do speak in-game, well, to them everything has to be sprinkled with irony, sarcasm, needless hostility, or some kind of just typical annoying faggotry. It especially doesn't help people rarely talk in none-mmo/moba/br/heroshooter games to begin with and are usually just closed off in their personal discords. I'm not asking for everybody to be social butterflies but my goodness I promise you it won't hurt to have a bit of goddamn sincerity for once if you do decide to talk in a videogame.

I'm starting to think this is my future. When it stops getting dark before tea time go out into the wilds. Then when the nights close back in play any of the stuff I missed while hugging trees.
 
I don't really like multiplayer and have potato lever hardware. Last online game I think I played was Maple Story. I imagine the community is even worse now. Beta was fun. But once it opened up fully it was just all spammers, beggers and "will you be my only GF".

But it looks like online is mainly randos and trash unless you already have frens playing. I might play some MMO if I knew some people playing and could run it. But I can't stand FPS anything.

I remember the golden days of being a teenager and people actually talking on Red Dead Redemption and Battlefield and other games. At some point everyone became surly and started refusing to talk outside of their Discords/XBox Live Parties. You play a supposed tactical squad-based shooter game, it's the same, no one actually plans anything besides just spamming "ATTACK B" and the like. Sometimes you can't even hardly carry on a text chat conversation. The only people that talk are children and Blacks.

I couldn't live with myself doing that. I don't like people saying N word and I don't like nigga. If you're going to use the word you should spell it properly. Like colour or FUCK KIKES. It's important to preserve language when niggers want to turn Ask into Ax or a series of clicking noises.

No, Xbox live parties and discord ruined that. Also potential lawsuits and law breaking in some countries pushes games away from peer to peer conversation
