Finding gamers with a like minded mentality in 202* - No homo

Chatting up randos on Steam but it's still a gamble.
Depends on the game, but I've met weirdos (trannies and people with anger management issues) from accepting random friend requests after matches of Dota. I used to make a lot of friends via meeting strangers in pub lobbies of games that were fun to play with, but it's harder to do that nowadays. At least I still know some people from years ago who game occasionally.

I hate this Discord shit so much, the game has an in-game chat function for a reason and it effects the gameplay when it includes things like local chat specifically. If you use outside chat in a game with local you're even a cheater.
It is cheating. I was playing Halo infinite the other day and was about to assassinate a guy who clearly didn't know I was there until he 180ed and killed me with a shotgun. Could see on the kill cam he had a friend able to see me from across the map and warn him. Was so obvious he was told by the delay in him turning being too long for sound but right for his friend seeing me.

Aren't most steam adds scammers looking to loot your inventory? Maybe I have rare stuff and that's just me.
Why not ask some Kiwis? I'm pretty sure at least some people here would be up for a match of whatever.
Very very bad idea. Never add someone from a trolling website into your personal sphere. You know they're looking for fresh meat to troll, dox or turn into a cow and many trolls are as mentally unstable as the people with threads here. Farm accounts need proper Opsec and adding people to steam from here is asking to be fucked with. You can be as bland as beige and they might still decide to fuck with you for calling them a nigger.

No, I get those too. What I meant was when you have a good game or fun time with a random and they decide to shoot you friend request, or vice versa. Like the good ol' days before Discord.

Other than DOTA what would you even find using steam match making? Death match classic never had a user base ain't what it used to be.

Tranny Team Fortress 2 is cursed in matchmaking now, but I have met one or two likeminded people within the last year when I was on a TF2 kick. Otherwise just adding people from being in different community-ran servers across a few different games. But again, your milage may vary.

I'd be open to that, but at the same time hesistant because I value my privacy. Ironically, I think my heightened value of privacy was brought on because of this site too. Lol.

Id say it depends who you choose. Some here are just regular ass dudes.

Sounds like a you problem.

Play Holdfast: Nations at War
Last time I checked Holdfast was starting to clamp down on fun and engaging conversation. Doesn't help that their official discord was at least 15% dominated by one particularly report-happy furry at one point.

Though it's been a while since I played, maybe they didn't do anything after all.

I bought that game to play with my brother and his friend. It's not really my kind of game, but the social aspect of it was really fun. Just a bunch of dudes shit posting and screaming at each other on the battlefield. I highly appreciated the mic spammers playing appropriate music. Maybe I should pick it up again.

It was my favourite part of the game. And then every now and then you'd get a competent commander who's actually capable of stirring up some esprit d'corps and manages to arrange all the spergs in the team into something resembling an actual formation, and that experience is magical.

There's also clan gameplay, which was fun but I haven't been involved in that for years now.

I miss this sort of gaming comradery. Nowadays I only really experience it when I play Counter Strike with old friends. Matchmaking has killed it for the most part. It's just too easy to queue for a match of a game and not make that connection that you previously would have by just joining a server off of a server list.

Can you tell which is which without risking being fucked with? It only takes one angry tranny to sneak in once and you have a serious problem. There's no way to vet people so you're playing Russian roulette. It's a problem with a lot of communities I'm in. They have targets on their back and you have to keep up opsec.

Isn't that mostly because CS has down time between rounds so you text chat away? A lot of old games have like 3 surviving servers but they're De_dust on loop forever and all the old maps you loved probably aren't De_dust.

Not having autism for one helps with determining who isnt a mong.

Sometimes it's that way with the randoms we are against. But for me and the friends I still hangout with occasionally, we are all like-minded and play with the intention to win, but don't take it entirely seriously. We shoot the shit whenever it's appropriate. Best way I could describe it is good vibes.

It's been awhile since I played on a CS community server. A lot of the active ones are setup for training purposes (retakes, aim training maps, AWP/Deagle only, FFA Deathmatch). From my experience, a lot of times there are tryhards who take it too seriously to really shoot the shit with.

Never dated a crazy chick have you? Easy to act normal until you got them hooked.

Rip Conc maps. You died too young.

I remember the golden days of being a teenager and people actually talking on Red Dead Redemption and Battlefield and other games.
Bruh, RDR and Battlefield? Not the golden days. I remember playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live when it was new and saying the most racist, fucked up shit and never having to worry about getting banned. Insane to think about now. I was in my late teens so it was probably cringe, but I remember a black guy on our team fucking up CTF and we all called him a nigger. No repercussions.

Xbox live was like that until the 2010s. Halo 2 and reach had the same level of moderation. Absolutely fucking none.
